Can you reproduce the sound parked and revving the engine? Or only in drive and at speed?

Ah good question!  It does not make the sound in park while revving.

I’ll do a shot in the dark. Small exhaust leak that seals quick. You don’t hear it at idle because it needs a little load? Seals quick do to heat expansion. I’ve seen weirder things.

You hear it at low RPM no matter what, or only when the engine is under load (accelerating hard at low RPM without dropping down a gear, aka lugging the engine)? If you are putting the engine under load at low RPM's you can hear a little engine noise even with the stock intake as the motor sucks in air, with a CAI the sound is much louder and more profound. The intake looks like a giant cooler lid with random baffles and a closed air box, this is to minimize intake noise. I personally like to run a CAI because I love the throaty growl they make as they suck air in through an open box and right into the intake without having to navigate that stupid looking piece attached to the throttle body. I prefer to do intakes over mufflers because it is only loud under load, when you want it to be where as the wrong muffler makes noise or drone all the time any you can never have a peaceful drive when you want one.

I went with a Borla muffler, left the resonator and flapper on, and I love the sound.  You can only hear it inside the truck on a cold start.  Otherwise, it sounds stock unless you're standing outside.  I put an AEM dry filter in and I just ordered the Airaid M.I.T.  I'm thinking that paired with my muffler should sound pretty good, and I'm hoping the M.I.T gets rid of this stupid sound.  It's definitely a "baffled drone" type sound.  That's why I think it's coming from the intake (the big ugly @ss cooler lid you described).

If it doesn't make the noise, except when moving, I would bet it is either torque converter, transfer case/diff, or hubs. An exhaust leak, I assume, would leak as much in park at 2k RPM as in drive at 2k RPM. Same for an air intake problem source. Good luck with narrowing it down.

No...it's really hard to explain.  It has nothing to do with a mechanical malfunction.  It's just the natural sound of the engine, and as I've said, I'm probably only noticing it because I'm coming from a RAM.  You guys are probably immune to this engine sound because you've always driven Chevy's.

That’s the sound of American V8 glory. Revel in it and enjoy.

After a ton of research I've gathered that its the sound of "natural aspiration". Which my RAM did not have.  So that explains why it stands out to me and not other Chevy loyalists.  But still, wouldnt trade this truck for a RAM any day.  That truck was a POS and in and out of the shop from the day I bought it.  In truth, I'm a Tundra loyalist, but I wont go back to Toyota until they do something about their gas mileage.  I'm sure I'll catch alot of flack for that comment, but I have a video of my Tundra half ton tied up to a Chevy 2500 and pulling it 100 ft.  Tundras are tough @ss trucks!!!

Is your noise most noticeable on the driver side of your truck. I have a noise that sounds like gurgling or an exhaust leak that only happens under light load. The range device didn't fix it, it's not the flapper valve or bad gas. I think its either the vacuum pump or the steering shaft boot from some of the threads on this forum. I've brought it to the dealer 3 times and they can't figure it out. I will be bringing it back one more time to mention those two things and see it I can get it resolved.

So I finally got to the dealership about this noise and it is finally fixed. They replaced the vacuum pump and the steering shaft boot and the noise is gone. I am sooo happy, I will be keeping my truck for awhile now.

    • Whoever greenlighted the work truck matte black front bumpers on every trim but the AT4X should be fired!  I was hoping that was an AI mistake, but just realized they were on every model of the 2027 Silverado too.     Some parts of the interior do look premium, but the Denali Ultimate dashboard looks like an afterthought.  At least they appear to have lost the microfiber the high end Silverado models showed, but the '27 High Country dash looks better than the Denali.
    • New member here. I am researching a read-first event-recorder concept for late-model GM V8 trucks. This is not a sales post. There is no product link, price, preorder, or mailing list. I am trying to determine whether the underlying problem is real before building anything.   Has your truck ever had a brief problem such as: - rough running or a momentary misfire - an oil-pressure warning or unusual pressure event - reduced power or a brief stall - a U-code or lost-communication problem - a symptom that disappeared before the dealer or independent shop could reproduce it   If so, I would appreciate the following details: - year, model, engine, and mileage - what happened and under what conditions - whether a DTC and useful freeze-frame data were stored - whether the shop was able to reproduce it - what the eventual confirmed repair was, if known - what additional information would have helped the diagnosis   The concept being evaluated is a removable leave-in recorder that continuously retains a rolling window from before and after an event. It would not tune, reflash, clear codes, or change the vehicle calibration.   I am also not claiming that it could predict lifter failure or see every internal ECM variable.   The real question is whether continuous event history would add enough useful evidence beyond freeze frame, GDS2, and existing scan tools — or whether it would simply be another unnecessary gadget.   For owners and technicians, which problem would make something like this genuinely useful: 1. intermittent misfire or AFM/DFM-related behavior 2. oil-pressure events 3. lost communication or electrical faults 4. none of the above Please be blunt. Negative feedback is just as useful as positive feedback.
    • No tears over the SLE and SLT trim levels disappearing but I kind of loathe the "Elevation" name. It's a truck--skip the elegance.   The slab-dashboard design is decidedly different. Almost has a Hummer flavor to it. "Professional Grade" seems to be leaning very white-collar, tech-driven these days moreso than blue-collar, functional design.   The Silverado would be my choice between the two new trucks. Pleased with the engine lineup in both. The GMC is a little "too much" for a truck, IMO, and the Denali borders on ridiculous - but I do know there are buyers for luxury trucks out there. It's just not my speed.

    • - I like the outside but not as much as the Chevrolet.  They ICE'd the EV styling and it works, but I think exterior goes to Chevy on this one.     - SLE and SLT dead = Not.  Surprising.  Fits into the rest of the GMC lineup like this which (aside from Pro) matches the rest of the family.  Elevation, AT4, Denali.     - Interior.  Sophisticated Malaise era.  Why do I say Malaise?  Drawn with a ruler.  Rectangles everywhere.  Looks very premium though.
