Think I totaled my ‘15 - what to replace it with?

Looks like we lost another one.

Seems to be a common theme.  While GM sales are still good, Ford is outselling GM and Ram is gaining ground really, really quick.  And I will admit, if I could do it all over again, Ford would be at the top of my list this time.

Good luck to the OP, the Raptor is one cool truck.

Congrats on the new truck! It’s amazing how many of these I see out on the road so apparently Ford is doing something right. They are the best looking “stock” trucks out there IMO.

If you find a good Ford forum like this one let us know I need to replace the rusty 3/4 ton this year and since there ain’t a regular cab to be had anymore and I ain’t going to be a Guinea pig for the fugly 2020 HDs it’s probably Super Duty time..

Just have to look through this forum and the Toyota ones to see how many guys get fed up with Ford and switch back to something more reliable.

My understanding is that they take the actual full value and subtract salvage value to come up withe the threshold for totalling it or not.  These trucks have a pretty high salvage value, so it could be even less than 75%.

So I pay a premium. Hit a deer and the insurance company makes money by giving me the lesser of the two values; the depreciated mileage adjusted wholesale auction price or the salvage price, which ever is less,  and they keep the difference? And if I kept the truck long enough before the incident I've already paid for the truck including gap loss. So...insurance is a contract where I promise to give the company BOTH my truck and my money to satisfy a law they lobbied for, forcing me into that contract to protect THIER interest. A contract only they benefit from purely from vehicle damages. Liability losses paid out of the premium alone make insurance a nice, never get your hands dirty 100% profit salvage side business. In the case they actually settle for repair they limit their liability and violate your half of the 'good faith' expectation to be made whole by squeezing the shop for hours and force use of substandard part, materials and results.

Am I getting that right? :lurk:

Really, the deer caused irreparable damage? I see. :shakehead:

Not sure what you’re getting at? I’m haggling w/ the ins. Co. Over the net payout - I know for a fact they valued it @ $30-32k min anyhow, i have sent a bunch of receipts for recent work done & accessories etc. to bolster my case for top dollar, the truck was in great shape & well maintained.

For the haters- I’ve owned THREE K2 trucks, they all had issues, this ‘15 left me stranded w/ a failed starter 8 hrs from my home on a family vaca w/ only 33k on the clock. Dropped lifters, failed fuel rail, leaky brake light, tranny issues, failed bearing, exhaust leak, rancho shocks junk @ 10k miles, touchscreen/nav stopped working correctly about 20k miles ago & was essentially useless, sunroof malfunction, tranny clunk, all on the same truck within 61k miles. One time it wouldn’t come outta 4WD. Oh yeah- and it shook, but seems like that’s just par for the GM course. Go ahead & search for yourself- most of these issues I documented on the forum as they occurred.

Any more questions/comments? Guys try & recreate a raptor w/ a Mexican built 1/2 ton pile of crap from GM all you wind up w/ is a heavily modded trouble ridden piece of junk- with no warranty. Im perfectly fine taking my “chances” on this Raptor given my experience w/ GM 1/2 tons.

Lastly- ummmm, yeah it’s friggin totaled/irrepairable, or @ least a waste of time/money/effor to repair- see pics, thing even bent the tow hook.

I bet more Ford guys that have problems buy GM trucks than vice versa. According to what I read on here.

The only reason Ford sells more is they are cheaper. Dodge is also cheaper. Apples to apples.

They both also have more recalls too.

In my opinion you get what you pay for.

I don’t know about the cheaper part. I’ve had more GMs lately, why? They were cheaper. I don’t drink the kool-aid, they all have issues. The Raptor must be pretty good I’m see lots of them lately.

The Raptor is a nice truck. Only option I would have forgone though is the panoramic sunroof. Not a matter of if but rather when you run into problems with that thing. Check out f150forum.

Congrats on the new truck. The Raptors are badass no doubt.

I do find it odd that up until now you’ve owned all these GM trucks and as soon as you buy a new Ford your opinion of GM turns to them being shit.

No hater here, glad you found what you wanted. I’ll suggest that if you weren’t on the Pro-catch can side before, you may want to look at one now. I’m not pimping any brand, just know they are even more effective with the turbo crowd. Best of luck to ya down the road. ???

Banging on the insurance industry. Take a breath.

My brother hit a deer with his Olds 88 dead on at 60 mph. Insurance company replaced everything from the windshield forward plus both air bags.  I hit a down but not done one ( on his knees) at about 50 mph with my Civic. Split him in two. It is still being driven. Mom use to have a saying, "I've had bigger scratch's than that on my eyeball".

Fords for cheaper? Huh, must be a regional thing. This summer, before getting my Sierra I went Ford shopping and an XLT with a few good options was the same MSRP as my SLT with WAY more options. The salesman even acknowledged that Fords are generally more expensive.

No Rams, we all know they're cheaper for a reason ...

I don’t think you read the whole thread- I’ve been had nothing but problems w/ them. I had a 2014 before this one put 45k mikes on it also lost in an accident that shook like CRAZY- 7x to dealer no fix. Litany of issues w/ the 2015 which I put 61k on it. I had an early 2014 before that, but was only couple thousand miles. My dad had a new ‘07 Silverado LTZ 5.3 4x4 that was a great trouble free truck I drove from 40-55k & my buddy from 55k-150k & traded it.

The 14-18 trucks are junk. Was hoping the ‘18s May be the best of the bunch, they probably are, but they’re so dated compared to the competition- some of the “old school” truck stuff I do appreciate, but GM has done me no favors & I don’t owe em a thing.

the fact that my ‘modified 03 Z06 is 100x more reliable than my ‘15 new Sierra tells you everything you need to know. Sierra left me stranded 2x

had some good memories w/ it, truck was def not entirely all bad, but you’re flat out lying to yourselves if you think GM is keeping pace w/ the competition right now.

Talk about sour grapes.

Let us know how that waiting room is at the Ford dealer.

Or better yet why don't you just move along now.

Just because you had a POS don't mean they are all junk . Get real pal .

Aren't you the same guy that was thinking about getting a 2018  SLT Premium plus with a Magnuson supercharger a few days ago?

And worried about the MPG?

Yeah they're all junk.???
