Took it off last night. Noticed zero difference in MPG on my 2011 and I can’t imagine this will be different. 15 7mm bolts I think. The front was too low with the air dam.

Did you swap LEDs in your DRLs or is it just the picture? Mine are whitish/blue. These look yellow to me.

Did you trim off the bottom portion or completely remove it?  Hard to tell from pictures.

I just unbolted the lower part. The rest is still there.

They’re factory. It was sunset time and I think the color saturation of the pic is just warm overall.

I think I’m going to remove the lower portion of mine. I’ve hooked into a couple of snow banks this winter with it.. it’s just too low.. it looks good without it.

Thanks to rkj I found this in another thread and have decided I’m gonna completely remove the air dam and add this skid plate. I will probably pay the extra and have mine powder coated black since I have the midnight edition.

Just did mine yesterday (lower portion only), but forgot to snap a pic. Will try to get one this afternoon. Clearly looks better to me.

Removed mine on my 2012 so I could get under it to do oil changes.

The running boards prevent access on the sides.

If you’re wanting more clearance and want to make your truck look taller, why not just lift your truck to avoid having clearance issues and will definitely look taller. IMHO, looks like more energy is wasted on trying to get a look when there’s already a simple solution......

It costs $0, and less than half an hour to remove an air dam.  It yields improved clearance, and improved appearance (subjective).

A proper lift is far more expensive, and far more labour intensive to install. It also makes it more challenging to step into the bed, or load and unload cargo.

Guess it’s a 50/50 plus and negative to lifting your truck versus keeping it stock and having the illusion of a taller truck but I get it, you can add a 2” plus spacers or struts up front along with the removal of the air dam for more clearance on the front.
