Mini heart attack this morning. I remote started it from my kitchen. And watched it shut off after about 30 seconds. Hopped in and started it up. CEL again.

Got my scanner and read the code. P0496 - EVAP purge system code. Hmm….

So I popped the hood and poked around. The EVAP purge solenoid wasn’t seated all the way in my intake (I have a Cold Air Inductions intake). I think I popped it loose when I was working on the cat replacement. So the intake was sucking unmetered air...no bueno. Good thing I only drove it a few miles before I figured it out.

So I decided to take it off and put the factory intake back on. Cleaned the MAF, MAP, and EVAP Purge sensors while I was at it.

Cleared the code cranked her up. Purring like a kitten.

Here is the Catalytic converter replacement procedure video, as promised. Hopefully this helps someone in the same situation.

Your video isn’t sad it’s great.  It’s sad this thing was using so much oil on regular synthetic oils and they killed it. I honestly think mine burning E15 and running top flight synthetics or no phos or zinc group II made a difference.

Thanks a lot. The RLI oil seems to have cut down on consumption. Currently at ~3000 miles on the oil change and the level is still midway to 3/4 up the stick (top at fresh oil change). I haven't added any oil on this interval either.

I try to run 89 E15 or Ethanol free gas at ever all possible. Not sure if that makes any difference.

E15 leaves less deposits.
RLI is low cost and effective. If it gets to exhaust system it burns clean!

PS it’s cheaper than every other synthetic out there! Until the overstock is gone.

Well I no longer have the 2022 Silverado LTD 2.7L. My company needed a new work truck, so we shuffled the fleet a bit. We have a guy who was driving a 2015 with 275k on it, kept having repairs and issues with it. So we found a low mileage 2024 Silverado 2500HD Duramax to replace that with. Having seniority, I gladly gave up my 2022 to go to the other guy driving the 2015. And I graciously took over the "new" 2024 Duramax. Thing is beast. I've put about 1000 miles on it since picking it up. It has just over 28,000 miles on it. Mileage is great, unloaded I am seeing 20-21 mpg on the highway. It's an LT trim, so not quite bare bones, but not quite tip top fancy. Good enough for a work truck for sure.

I will miss the 2.7L. It was a good little motor. And my coworker promised he will take care of it. But now I got this Duramax to mess with. Giddy up.

Here's a pic of the HD the night I drove it home.

It’s now covered by warranty. Getting my $107.89 for the evap emissions purge pump part I installed myself before coverage.
2022 LTD TRAIL BOSS L3B

If you paid for installation you get that back too. image.thumb.jpg.f9bb3bae88e6c5442433a14d068b6637.jpg

I've had my 2024 silverado LT for about 7 months now and am super happy with it. Coming from 10 years 2 other trucks with the 5.3 as much as I hate to say it i think I actually like this 2.7 better. Definitely seems like I don't have to press the gas pedal nearly as much to go up the same hills as my I did on my 5.3. Definitely alot more responsive.  I would definitely recommend it to any on the fence about it.
