Oh I see. This is the charge air intake pipe. Well last time I checked, mine looked clean. I'll check again though.

I just looked at both tubes. The one going into the intercooler from the turbo. And the one coming out of the intercooler going to the throttle body.

Both were oil free on the outside.

However, I recall seeing some oil on the inside of the tube going to the throttle body a while back when I did a throttle body cleaning. It wasn’t too terribly much tho.

thats good news and maybe bad, i know where my oil is going and now have to find the cause. i have oil coming out of the cooler at both ends. i replaced the pcv fine oil separator and it stopped for awhile , but it is doing it again. i guess i will change the pcv valve next. i used about a quart and a half in 4500 miles

In the same amount of mileage I’ve used 27 ounces. No visible drips. Just burned right out tail pipe.

How many of you guys do the fuel induction cleaning at the dealership? They said I should get it done ever 15000 miles. I had a 2015 sierra with a 5.3 and they said I should have it done on that. 9 years and 129,000 miles never did it and never one problem.  Just wondering what you guys thought with the 4 cylinder turbo engine. That's what my new 2024 has in it.

Never. I use Amsoil PI to clean every 3000-4000 miles and it makes a noticeable difference but doesn’t last long.

The issue seems to be PCV works fine on 4 cylinders but this engine driving at cruise in D will deactivate the two center which I’m afraid pulls oil out of dead cylinders.

From my perspective I’ve begun running in manual mode and never above 7 th.

Let you know if for sure that slows oil usage.

On long trips at 75 mph or above I cycle back and forth.

What's amsoil PI? Something you put in gas tank?

AMSOIL's P.i. is their fuel system cleaner.  It has strong detergents in it and is only recommended to be used once every 4k miles.

Here this is from AMSOIL's web site:

"AMSOIL P.i. is a potent gasoline performance improver with concentrated detergent that aggressively cleans stubborn, power-robbing deposits from injectors, valves and the combustion chamber. Effective in port and direct injection systems. Bottle compatible with capless fuel systems. Cleans entire fuel system in one tank of gasoline. For use with cars and trucks. Treats up to 30 gallons. Add entire bottle to tank at fill-up. For best results, clean your fuel system with P.i. every 4,000 miles (6,400 km). Do not use with diesel, E85 or 2-stroke mixed fuel."

I have customers that state they notice a difference in idle and some even said they have gotten an increase in mpg.  I use it every 4k miles.  More information here.

Is it normal for these new trucks to make all kinds of clicking noise when you turn them off in side cabin?

Yes it’s the anti skid ( anti lock) brake plumbing purging and recirculating. Manual mentions it.

Yea. Mine does it.

Unrelated....

Just finished a long week of travel. I had to let the oil change go to ~6400 miles. OLM is at 14%. I had to add about 1.5 quarts over this interval. One morning I checked it and it was only about 1/8 showing on the dipstick. Gotta keep an eye on that oil level when the interval gets over 3000 miles, that's when mine starts consuming oil. Still managed to get 20mpg running 75-80 on the highway tho.

I will be doing an oil change this weekend, and starting with the RLI 5W30 oil. I am going to stick with my 5000 mile intervals (as best I can) or ~30% on the OLM.
