Brake Pad Wear sensors? Obviously, this is for those who are not mechanically inclined.

Considering vehicles go through a mandatory safety inspection every 1-2 years.

4-5 if new. For the most part, factory pads and rotors now last for tens of thousands of miles.

What next? Dirty Paint /Wash Soon indicators?      :loser:

The struggle is real, bro!

My dealer did multiple updates at my oil change.  They did ECM, TCM, BCM and another brake related one to address the rapid decline with the brake wear indicator.  Also got a radio update while there too plus first oil change.  All at no cost to me!  My brake wear indicator now shows 100% front and rears.  Hopefully this issue is fixed for me.

Oh Please, when it comes to issues with these trucks I can beat most of you.

GM bought back my 2017 with 18K because I had so many issues with the truck I hated driving it..

As for the brake sensor, the dealer just updated the software in the truck, there is a patch out to fix that and a few other things.

You mind sharing what update? My dealer said they didn't know of one to address the issue when I was in there today.

I believe he's referring to state motor vehicle inspections which are required to renew your plates.

As of today there is no software update for the brake wear showing on the display.  The dealers can only reset it (back to 100%).  The software monitors your driving habits and estimates the wear on the pads (useless in my opinion).  We still have the old fashion squeal wear indicators on the brakes that work.  I am not happy that they have not issued a patch if nothing else to let the owner reset the brake wear similar to resetting the air cleaner percentage.  I like everything to work properly.

There is a software update PIT5695A

This, I had it done as well, only issue is that my dealer forgot to reset the meter.

Got my truck back after the first oil change and showed them the break life % . at 5k the front pad life is at 17%. They said they hadn't seen that, now I don't believe them.

When they said it was ready I went back to pick it up around 6:30 after work. The service dept was closed and I picked it up and just drove off. They went into the display and just turned it off, not fix it. I'll be calling tomorrow.

I’d be pissed too. Unacceptable.

So has anyone actually read bulletin PIT5695A to say what they are supposed to do? Usually if it has a PIT or PIP number it is still preliminary and not fixed yet. Perhaps it just tells them to turn it off and there was no software update yet

I had mine in yesterday for an oil change and told them about the brake wear indicator.   They said they had to do a software update to re-program the brake system control module correct brake pad.
