I tried to get a better side profile shot. It is pretty clear that the cap sticks up higher than the brake light spoiler catching all sorts of air at 70 mph. Also the truck brake spoiler itself dips down in the center by the light which makes the cap leading edge catch even more air981402e2cbd379c65b1d854939a57652.jpg

has anyone put a different brand cap on with better results?
I looked at pictures of ARE and Century and the all seem to follow the same design.

Honestly most people probably would not hear anything at all, but it's one of those things like a rattle that once your hear it, that is ALL you hear.

I have the XR, no noise issues here.  I've been impressed with how quiet it is even with the rear slider open.  With the sunroof cracked,  rear slider open, front cap window slider open, and the side windows open, still quiet.  I'd be curious if the installer removed the bed rail covers and changed the height somehow.  Mine are still on for reference.  Also, in a previous post it was mentioned that the cap back glass sticks out.  This is remedied by adjusting the latches.  Loosen the bolt, swivel the latch a bit and tighten it up - should be good to go.

Thanks. Mind posting a pic of your Transition from the third brake light to the cap?

I already adjusted the back door to make if fit closer to tailgate.

Installer is same guy I have used for the last 5 trucks. All he does is put some closed cell foam tape along front of bed to keep the water out.

Mine looks like it sits up a good inch higher than yours. f1b9b0b42602e4acd5525ed697eda96b.jpg

Any issues with water getting in the bed.  Mine leaks after rain, but not a car wash.  Seems the rear window is funneling water directly to the plastic side rail caps, then runs under and in to the bed.  I have been trying to fix, but this is frustrating at best.

Someone asked for a photo of the transition from the truck roof to the cap...Here's what it looks like on my ARE Z series. The cap is about 1/4 lower than the truck roof line. No wind noise at all.

Has there been any noticeable changes to highway mileage since installing your caps?

Increase or decrease?? Thanks

What is the height of your toppers at the highest point to the ground? I need to stay under 83" to fit in my garage, and the top of the tailgate to the ground is 58.5" on the 2020 LT TB. I appreciate the photo of the squat the topper creates, gives me hope I'll still be able to park in the garage.

I have an old man truck again. Two months without a cap was long enough.b84dfcc6b55c48de606a435e87f2fb4f.jpg

I'm just not a fan of the look.  The crew cab short bed is not attractive to me and adding the cap made it worse.  Just personal preference so please don't hate on me.  I would like to see pics of a cap on a standard bed trail boss.

We almost ordered one for the RST. I wouldn't now, though, until I understand why one sits so high and why they leak. I can have neither the wind noise nor the water.
