Smoke smell?

Recommended Posts

So last weekend I was at a bar with some buddies celebrating. My buddy drives my truck because I drank way too much, and I stupidly decide to smoke a cigar with the windows down. 9 days later, truck still stinks.

Anybody know how long it takes for that smell to go away when somebody smokes in it one time? I’m sure somebody has had that situation happen to them at one point.

I smoked for 20 years, quit 20 years ago. I don’t how my wife stood it. I know if you smoke in a non smoking hotel room they’ll charge the h$ll out of you. So it can’t be easy.

Get some upholstery cleaner.

Take out all your floor mats.

Clean all fabric surfaces of your interior with it. Use the supplied brush to work it in there.

Wait a few minutes, and shop vac over all the upholstery.

Wipe down your dash and door panels with leather cleaner.

If it still stinks, use a gel Febreze clip-on air freshener that clips on an air vent.

Does it have leather seats?

This stuff is the best I've ever used. Lasts a long time.

Get you a can of this. They got it at Wally World.

Shake can, spray in cab front and back 30 seconds each (don’t necessarily want to spray the fabric areas you want it airborne when you close the doors), leave windows up over night, repeat once a week till smell disappears.

When mom was still around I had to use this every time after she would ride in my truck. She smoked for 50 years everything she owned had “that smell”. This sh!t is the best thing I ever found to get rid of it. I even got her to start using it in her SUV and it helped.

Professional auto detailers do the ozone treatments. Had it done on her 8 year old SUV when I ended up with it. They had to keep it overnight on the machine. Seemed to work when I sold it nobody who test drove it noticed any smell. They charged me 60 bucks on top of what the detail was so would be cheaper than buying your own machine.

There is different scents of this spray. I always use the “original” as IMO it doesn’t really have a smell to it and I don’t like girly fragrant smelly things anyway. Mom used the “orange” I believe and it definitely left the SUV smelling like a grove. Also more isn’t better with this stuff you can definitely use to much I made that mistake once.

I've had weird little tablets given to me by a used car dealer that smelled like chlorine. you let them dissolve in a little bit of water with the windows up. It worked to get the dog smell out of a used truck I had. Package never had writing on it.

Those are the best things at getting odor out, period. We bough a Subaru that had a weird perfume smell in it, dealer gave us a couple in case one didn't work. One did the trick and we deodorized my truck for the heal of it.
