I have a 2019 with 3,700 miles. Two trips to dealership already, leaky back window and transmission issue. Rear window was fixed and the transmission still has the annoying thud which I'm used to. I bought it in April 2019, but I don't use it at the ranch anymore due to tricky rear shocks that gets it fishtailing out of control on certain ripples. I had two Ford F-150's before that, both were trouble-free and both were driven at least 30,000 miles. I usually hit 45 to 55 mph on that road with the 2016 F-150 and co-worker's 2019 RAM, cannot drive above 30 with the Silverado. I thought about replacing shocks but I decided to replace the whole thing instead.

Yeah the suspension on these things is utter trash, however I would change the suspension on any stock 4x4 I bought so I didn't really care about the trash suspension.

You can easily put in some nice aftermarket Fox or King rear shocks for 200-300 bucks and a +1 deaver leaf for another 300 to really firm it up and give it a more planted feel. Feel as though the thud and 1-2 gear shift is a farce and I would be at the dealership with fire and brimstone if mine did that. Get a lawyer and try to get them to enact the lemon law. That is total BS and I feel for anyone who spends 50k on a vehicle that can't shift into drive and 1st to 2nd without being jarring.

From what I can tell is outside of the tranny issue these things are very well made vehicles. I could be wrong and some of the gimmick things like the HUD will probably crap out eventually as it is very new technology for GM, but overall this generation of trucks is pretty utilitarian and should last 200,000 with proper fluid changes. Or maybe I'm very naive...

They already looked at it, I don't want to bother with a lawyer especially when there are better options. I would rather dump the problem on somebody else than deal with it myself. I'm aware of the aftermarket shocks, but I bought an RST thinking it'd do better on tricky terrain.

What kind of problems? Curious.
Brake communication errors

Safety equipment malfunctions including complete failures (unable to turn on at all) and random failures (sensors, blind spot monitors randomly shutting off)

Oil leaks

Front camera randomly flickering or failing to work at all

Digital screen in gauge cluster flickering or being blank

Numerous infotainment issues, including blank screens, volume stuck and unable to be adjusted, radio playing two sources simultaneously and not allowing anything to be changed, bluetooth not connecting to phone even if I have system "forget" my phone and tey to re attach it and random volume changes when I start vehicle.

Service ESC notification that stayed on for a few minutes then shut off

When I 4wd auto have strange whirring/whining sound anytime I accelerate, most noticeable between 50 and 70 mph

Occasionally get a clunk when slowing down or stopping vehicle.

Sometimes when plugging usb cable into slot on dash it will tell me my nav sd card has been removed and shut off navigation system.

Issue with my seats where, aside from just being really firm and uncomfortable, have a spot where if you have your weight there, you can feel a corner to one of the mechanisms inside the seat.

Total of 12 recalls and TSBs done, vehicle left at dealership 7 times for work done and have stopped in for issues with infotainment a couple times that resolved themselves after restarting the vehicle. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. I have had it since the end of November 2019.

23K (miles) zero actual issues.

RXP catch can installed (what a great investment)

Over 6K (miles) of towing.

There's probably someone out there that can beat me.

Man none of these vehicles from a stock 4runner to a wrangler to a Trailboss/AT4 is going to be a formidable off-road vehicle. Quality suspensions are pricey and even vehicles like TRD Pro 4runners, Rubicons, and something like a Raptor is going to be vastly inferior to a vehicle where you buy a stock vehicle and put a comparable amount of money into an aftermarket suspension.

If you like the truck I'd spend 5k on tires, UCA's front struts/springs, rear shocks, deaver springs and you'd have a bad@$$ off-road vehicle. Hell, I'd rather have that truck with 5k worth of aftermarket suspension/tires than a Raptor all day every day.

But I hear you on the clunk/shifting problem. That is utter trash that GM won't take care of that. It's been a problem for years but if GM acknowledges it it would be massive financial loss for them. Not sure they can sustain that to they act like it doesn't exist. Sucks dude.

Yeah a lot of the infotainment issues can be ironed out with updates and I have had times where it had a black screen off the rip but cleared up moments later. Not worried about that cause they can just patch it.

You have oil leaks on a new truck? Bad gasket? Plug? That's nuts.

You shouldn't be in 4wd over 55mph FWIW.

The clunk has been documented on certain 5.3's. Again, like I told the guy above that sucks and I'd be at the GM dealership demanding something be done or looking into a lawyer and the lemon law. GM won't be able to skate on that if enough people litigate it.

Seems like a bulk of your problems are with the syncing of the infotainment system. I'm not saying you are wrong for voicing your displeasure but even the most expensive aftermarket navigation head units have many of the same issues/delays. The sensors on these vehicles are actually pretty durable and will sustain extensive off-road use. However if you are bumping into $hit with your bumpers the sensors aren't going to function properly. Not sure how you use your vehicle but for 99% of on-road use you aren't going to run into these problems. And if you do while you are under warranty, it should be as easy as replacing the sensor/camera.

And if you are having true brake/communication errors you are a future millionaire because that is a lawyers dream.

Appreciate your response and not trying to knock anyone but a lot of people on here complaining have expectations that are a little unrealistic. At the end of the day it is a machine and any machine is going to need servicing and an operator making sure it is running at it's most optimal level. I have a 5.3 and can't feel the clunk from 1st to 2nd unless I really really try to feel it lol. So I don't lol. My infotainment system sometimes delays but like I said they all do. These are mechanically the best vehicles GM has ever made, and by a long shot. Again it is important that people voice their displeasures as that is how we all win and GM is forced to do recalls and update the infotainment system, but some of the people on here need to realize that at the end of the day it is a truck. I couldn't be happier with the utilitarian value of my 5.3 4wd SLT. When you compare these to Ram's and Fords these things appear to be bulletproof although I will concede it is still early in the life cycle...

The thing was I wasn't looking for an off-roading vehicle, I just wanted better handling since we do drive between 45 and 55 mph on the dirt roads at the ranch, all are well-maintained, straight, and very long. I do not turn my 4x4 on at all and even 2WD trucks can go 55 mph on it. Cars usually hit 45 to 55 on it too. The first time I encountered the fishtailing issue was on a city road that was caked in dried mud from the recent storms. It fishtailed so badly, I was at 45 degree angle when I slammed my brakes. Before that, I wasn't even accelerating or turning or braking. It was enough to really piss me off, no car, let alone a 4x4 truck, handle like that!

I'd look at the tread pattern on the tires. Also, the bed on trucks is a lot lighter than the cab so they do tend to fishtail. Anytime you are going 45+ on non-paved roads you are risking fishtailing in just about any vehicle. I think you'd be fine if you put it in 4wd, slowed it down to 40-45 (yes 5-10 miles an hour will make a drastic difference) and/or bought tome mud tires.

It had only 500 miles when it first did that, it was brand new. None of the other vehicles have fishtailed. No reason for it to fishtail especially when brakes aren't being applied and it's not accelerating. No gravel on that dirt road. In fact, the first time it fishtailed on the street, there wasn't gravel on it either, just caked dried mud with ripples. The back end shuddered so violently it fishtailed. The front end didn't lose traction, just the back end and that was far more dangerous. None of the other vehicles have done that. The Silverado is the only one that can't go above 30 mph on that road. We've had the ranch for over 60, I drove the 1986 Caprice on it many times as a teenager.

So for the 4wd I've only gone over 55 with it in auto setting in bad weather because it kept fish tailing. I've had other 4wd and awd vehicles and never had this type of sound.

As for sensors you mentioned me bumping into stuff and that I wouldn't have these problems if all my driving was on road. So far outside of a couple dirt roads it's been all on roads. I have not run into anything, have not been hit by anything and wash the vehicle frequently so there is nothing that is blocking or damaging the sensors, they just go out randomly and work fine when I turn on the vehicle the next time.

Some of the safety tech was fixed with a recall, but the sensors, LKA and BLIS go out sometimes for no reason.

Regarding the infotainment, I've had numerous new vehicles with new infotainment systems and have experienced minor bugs with them, but never consistent issues that occur almost every day and again, seemingly at random.

They probably could be fixed with updates, but it's been over a year since the vehicle came out and the problems are still there, I'm not feeling confident GM is working on or will come up with a solution.

Regardless, I expect some bugs in a new model year vehicle, but not this many and not so frequent and consistently. I think spending as much as these cost, expecting it to work right isnt unreasonable.

Just turned 28k on my '19 LT. No real issues to speak of. Some weird "once in a while" things, like clunking downshifts and popping noises from the roof in hot sun with AC on. But nothing that is outright broken.

Going through Carfax reports and found a 19 Denali with 104,000 verified miles. Crazy they still want $47,000 for it with those miles. Just shows you how the used car market is with Covid.

Visually, looks like she held up pretty well over all those miles. Kind of telling that he/she traded it for a Ford though lol.

That was my first thought as well. Might have just wanted something different. I traded out of a 2013 F-150 with 10,000 miles for my 2014 K2. I didn't have any problems with the Ford, just wanted the GM when I saw it.
