I have been a Ford guy for many years and have been pleased with the trucks I have owned. This weekend, I traded my EcBoost Limited 4x4 in on a 2019 Sierra Denali with the 6.2 engine. I was very impressed after checking into the redesigned 2019 GMC trucks. Time will tell, but so far this new GMC checks all of the boxes for this long term (loyal) Ford owner...

I was the same way. Didn’t get Denali, but SLT premium plus. So far I am more then happy about making the switch.

Same here. I was a dyed in the wool Ford Ecoboost guy but the local dealer pissed me off with a ridiculous trade offer and just plain run around BS. I left there and the next morning was driving a 19' Denali. After driving the GMC for nearly a year and 12K miles, I believe I'd go back to Ford. None of my Ecoboosts had turbo lag issues and the overall quality was higher in the Lariats than the Denali. If Ram could get their quality act together, it'd be a no brainer.Nicest interior and ride out there.

Honest question... In what ways for you is the quality better in the Ford? I came from a 2016 F150 to a 2019 Sierra SLT. My F150 was just an XLT, so had different appointments than your Lariat. So far I like the Sierra. I wouldn’t say better or worse than the Ford, just different.

Welcome to GM.  You sure got a nice truck!  After spending some time in my brothers 2018 3.5L Ecoboost, I'm coming to respect them more and more.  I think Ford has finally gotten most of the bugs worked out of them but they are due for a major body change.  However- Like you, I prefer the sound of a V8.

Welcome to GM!

Ya know, I dont have a thing against Ford.  They make great trucks. I just like Chevy / GM better

I feel pretty confident you'll be very happy with that new GM

Both my Lariats paint was superior to my Denali. Body panel alignment was better, the leather interior seemed to be better quality material.. My 2015 was probably the most flawless vehicle I've owned, most definitely not assembled on a Monday or Friday. The Ecoboosts make so much torque at such low rpm that they are a pleasure to drive. I'm taking nothing away from the Denali, it has met or exceeded my expectations. It rides quieter than my wife's E-class Mercedes, tows great, does okay fuel economy and is quite comfortable. The Ford just seemed like they were put together by folks that gave a damn. Not so much the GMC.

I do think the F-150 “gives off” the feel of being better put together and that it has a higher grade interior. I’ve felt that getting into my friend’s King Ranch.

But then, when you really inspect it, it’s just as “economically” made as a GM. I especially feel that way about the Ford interiors when you really stop to look closely at them. Very plastic-y. Lots of ugly buttons, and I can’t stand the “buckle your seat belt” noise in the Ford vs the simple GM ding.

I'm sure I mentioned it here before but I talked to one guy who was not at all impressed with the build quality on his $70k+ Raptor. I can't remember his specific complaints, other than thin paint, but he was appalled at how cheap it felt.

yes I looked at raptor and wasn't impressed for price they want.....they did great job with look of exterior and all,  but for that kind of money I was surprised....but am sure any manufacturer would do same as well

I'll prolly never have an LTZ model or High Country Silverado, but I am tremendously impressed with my $38,750 LT Z71 Crew Cab 4x4.

That LT Z71 Crew may just be the sweet spot for value in the Silverado lineup.

Now, this is not to say that I wouldnt want an LTZ or High Country or even a Duramax. I would LOVE to be able to afford one some fine day.

You may want to rethink that one, most every modification we all do on our trucks is one way or the other caused by wanna look and perform like a Raptor syndrome. I’d buy one in a heart beat if it wasn’t for the fact my current 1500 is the best truck I’ve ever owned, especially with the CST Lift and Suspension, ok the 6.2 has something to do with it too.

One thing is for certain, I’d race a Raptor on the street but not on an OffRoad strip cause no matter what we do to our GM suspension, it’s never going to be equal to a Raptor. Think about it though, if we had Raptors there would be no need for performance suspension and motor upgrades, The End!

I'm honestly glad I dont have Raptor Syndrome.

I reckon I'm just too old. ( 48 )

But, I wouldnt mind a set of some nice 22" tires and wheels in the near future  :)

Ford, with it's lower compression turbo engines... did not seem to get the mpg this 5.3 does.. You will be happy with the V8  and the dealer support GM has... i thought the Ford did well on mpg, but the GM beats it by 2 mpg.. on the highway... the other way around if you drive in town a lot. That is my experience...

Be glad you don’t, but my point would be that buying a 60k GM truck and then doing lots of suspension upgrades, may as well buy a Raptor cause you’ll be spending about the same amount in the end but with the Raptor, you’ll have full factory warranty, unlike the GM with the high dollar upgrades that may and will void a warranty, it’s just a matter of luck and or time.

    • Well that book won't sell many copies. Taking ones right foot off the loud pedal never gets applause. Funny really, It isn't that people don't know what to do...they just don't want to do it. But they will complain about it. About bad craftsmanship, about the cost of fuel, about the cost of part and repairs and mainly they complain that the solution while still possible isn't one they are willing to do.    I observe this daily. 'Gas cost to much!", they wail, while they mat it passing at 80+ mpg and scoot down the road like gas cost a dime a gallon. Then complain about the few that will lift and save both fuel and iron like they are owed and own the road.    Good thing they haven't an ounce of influence on my equipment. The rest I just laugh at. Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?
    • Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.
    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.
