Alert!!!! your truck has no security..

Ive been saying this for a while. Onstar is easy to disable. Lots of trucks are stolen and stripped easy due to this branded feature. If you have onstar you need an aftermarket alarm.

Article is from 2015.  If you really want security, wire in a kill switch for the fuel pump.

Bringing up a 5 year old article with a rant? Show us on the doll where Onstar hurt you...

I know some people have the tin foil hat mentality about "big brother" but your phone already does far more if it is from the past decade. Onstar may on occasion have a weak point that is identified and fixed like your video situation (along with all the other brands that offer the same thing), but that is minor compared to what benefits it brings. Onstar does more harm than good by far, overall what it is capable of and the other brands with a similar function can easily outweigh the bad. Not sure why the hate on it, you aren't getting away from it. I will laugh if any of the home smart devices are at your house.

Also I thought one of the big benefits of OnStar is if your vehicle does get stolen they can disable it and notify the police where it is. If somebody wants to steal something they’re going to find a way to do it I thought one of the big things was being able to shut it down and find it while they have it.

It can be disarmed in less then a min. Onstar response would need to be snappy as the moment dudes in the truck its off. I know a guy who lost his 17 in a split second. All they found was the tags in a chop shop.

I keep nothing of value in my truck, just jumper cables, tow strap, ice scraper, small tool set and some clothes. If someone wants to steal my truck, it wouldn't hurt me that bad. I may not have a ride home but I'll get that sweet insurance check and move on to something else lol.

If it gets stolen, I don’t want it back. They can have it.

So what is it that we’re supposed to do to keep our vehicle safe?

Train him well and you're set.

And if you want your dog to lick a thief to death, then go this route.
