If someone is coming to a Chevy truck site for answers to the pandemic, shame on them,it's all talk, isn't it,?those who disagree still post,if you don't like what you read,go get a feel good readers digest

Some of my favorite people are dems. Most are good intention and dissolution. There’s some pretty smart people on here. Marty for one. I think he’s a Democrat. He wouldn’t say. I’m one of those that put myself out there. You can disagree respectfully. I didn’t see anywhere only low IQ people apply. If wanted to lower mine I would watch CNN exclusively or Fox News. I read everything. I’d lean towards Fox News but not exclusively. Don’t tell my wife I voted for Jimmy Carter even after I paid 13.5 percent for my first house in interest. I just liked him. I’m really surprised this thread has stayed calm. Glad it has. Lots on the line. I’ve been in business most of my life. You see things different. You’re aware of what the government can do. Our most prosperous times have been, Reagan, Clinton, Trump. Al most lost it all with Obama. Still looking for those shovel ready jobs.

What does"I didn't see anywhere only low iq people apply"mean?

You said this a bad place to get your information. This as good as any. I will add. Most of the people in the country that are dying and getting sick were blind sided. Wrong place wrong time. Now with the exception of the hero’s Doctors etc. it’s on them. You know what to do. Be cautious around the elderly. Wash your hands, cover your sneeze and wear gloves. Simple. Let’s get back to work.

And the USA takes the lead!

82,404 US

Italy was originally predicted to get 400K deaths, UK 2 million. The models were way out of wack. They suspect the transmission rate is wrong. Just saw this from the doctors on the presser.

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/26/coronavirus-may-be-deadlier-than-1918-flu-heres-how-it-stacks-up-to-other-pandemics.html

Something I found interesting in the above was the difference in world population.

1918 1.8 Billion

2020 7.8 Billion

4-1/3 times as many people now as then. That flu had an R naught just under that of Covid-19 (currently) and the Spanish Flu mortality rate was 2.5%. Just under twice the WORLD mortality rate for this strain. Yes, US current mortality rate as of a minute ago was about 1.5%. Euro zone is over 5% as was China. Italy 10%!! If this thing infects the same percentage of the world population and mortality is only .57% it will kill the same number as 1918. 30 to 50 million world wide. IF the said and done is only 1% mortality world wide 1918 looks like a day in the park.

You can not compare mortality rates without also considering the population. :wtf:

It’s amazing to me what it takes to frighten people into their homes. I wonder what the mortality rate was to go west during the expansion? We were willing to fight to save our way of life during WW2. I get staying home two weeks so we can adjust to this new enemy. To save our way of life we need to get back to work soon.

I just read Texas Road house CEO is giving up his salary to pay employees. If I was going to eat at a chain restaurant that moved up the list a bit. Funny though, anyone who’s owned a small business knows that’s part of life during hard times. Especially in a restaurant.

CNN seams to want to push headlines like. Trump wants to kill old people. Or Trump hates New York or the governor. Trump doesn’t care about NY York hospitals. I have a question. How much of your salary or savings do you want to give up to have more hospitals on stand by? Or extra equipment? Pay higher taxes? How much? Cher, If you don’t remember was a famous singer. Being famous makes you smarter they think. Says Trump wants to kill her and her mother if people go back to work. Well no. If you’re at risk stay home. Probably hard for her in her opulent estate. And only 25 million sq ft. I know maybe a slightly exaggerated. 100000 sq ft.

The numbers are out on the daily bug briefings. Millions are watching, millions streaming. The left is screaming. Calling it his new rally. Just a short time ago they were complaining there wasn’t enough. These people are sick.

I just want to start seeing the media post case that people came out ok after the virus but they wont due to it being good news. But I think the people that got it 98% are ok and the other already had problems to begin with just like the flu does. Iam getting tired of all this bullshit screw all you people that think the world is coming to an end and open the country up and lets get back to work.

I think a lot of this is political and with Trump hating the media there never going to report good news in his favor. Its going to come to a time when people in the US are going to get fed up with all this and start doing what they use to do.

    • Length/amount of data capture will be important to consider, sifting through 5 minutes of a data log can be enormous when it is stored in milliseconds. Being able to find the 'event' let alone decipher it.   Presumably the driver would notice something and hit a button to capture the 'window' of data. That window has to be large enough for the operator to recognize the event and react accordingly.    The data has to be able to be retrieved easily.   The data has to be able to be understood. Which is the biggest challenge, dealer techs won't even know what most of it is and would likely not even look at it if an owner brought it to them. Meaning the owner, the least educated/qualified, trying to understand it.    How will the data be presented? Could specific PIDs be selected and a timelapse graph be watched? How will a specific value be noted as abnormal? Additionally, a good data logger would be able to 'learn' normal values for a specific vehicle and flag abnormalities automatically. It could in theory watch parameters degrade over time and suggest maintenance as needed. (If the MAF reading begins tapering off for a given set of other readings - MAP, throttle position, Ambient, etc.. a flag to check air filter.) With the amount of data available, a device (really the vehicle rather than an additional accessory) should be able to do more than issue a DTC. It should be able to run the full diagnostic suite automatically and present a solution rather than a code. (It's not the 90's anymore). The technology is available for the vehicle to not just say "P0087", it should know low fuel pressure, check other PIDs to narrow down the problem itself, and determine if it is a lift pump, high pressure pump, regulator, leak in the fuel line, clogged filter, etc. Even if it can't narrow it down, it should be able to guide the user to the likely problems.   This would be a major problem for dealer service departments, which are the manufacturers customers it is in their collective best interest to NOT have this available to the consumer.   Further, if the owner is going to be the primary consumer of the data, it's got to be at a consumer price point vs. dealer only specialty tool price.   This group is more 'involved' in their vehicle than general public/consumer and will have knowledge, experience, needs and desires that are quite different from the market at large.
    • I put the prof up. If you read what I posted. You can see that housing, cars and income are in line with the era we were talking about. It’s harder in some places easier in others. Let’s agree to disagree and put this back on track, OK? We both are pretty stubborn and hard headed. But I bring receipts. If you wish I will not respond to you in the future.
    • Lets see if I can sum up two pages of nothing useful.    You want to refute your own governments data of the "Purchasing Power" Index FOR THE ENTIRE USA and its territories replacing it with the experience of a single family and its business and label that reality?  Then pound on that for a week hoping it will find traction?    Stan, I've told you several times. I don't do irrational. There are more people in the USA than your family.    I'm pretty sure this tread is so blown up. I'll give you a few days or months if need be to post yourself silent then I'll see if I can find enough parts of the train to reassemble it.
    • Facebook groups hate VSE, poor customer service; their responses to criticisms are pretty poor for a reputable company. I'm not a customer, haven't bought anything from them, but how they handle themselves on social media is a definite "No" for me.
    • $10,000 for a transmission?   Pretty sure I could buy all the parts, tools, and education to rebuild it myself for a quarter of that amount.   or swap it out with a new one...
