weather has nothing to do with it, this has been overblown nonsense from the beginning.  Certain folks are being exposed. Locking down LA until July is a purely political move aimed at the election and other states are doing the same. It seems like everyone is coming around to what I said a month and a half ago....They were lying about the death toll. Just now they are taking deaths away from the count lol. I and others were told mentioning that was purely Fox new conspiracy. And now here we are and that's exactly what happened. Over 82% of deaths in my state are in nursing homes, those should have been the best protected places since the initial outbreak in Washington. Do you think weather played a role on those deaths? I do residential construction, business never stopped and I can't tell you of a single solitary person who got this virus because they continued on working and living life as normally as possible. And its a good thing they kept working when they could because there will be another mortgage crisis to follow that is going to be devastating to this industry. I hope many of you have learned a valuable lesson about the intentions of the US mainstream media. They and some other corrupt party attempted to destroy the economy solely because they don't like the orange guy. But hey, do you know what would really help the country now? How about we send free money to illegal aliens, have a mass release of prisons, maybe give large amounts of money to Cannabis stores, more money to planned parenthood, or even mail in voting. That all is directly connected to the virus crisis right? What a bunch of frauds, biggest scam in American history.

What state are you in that allowed residential construction during the stay at home stay safe weeks?

I think Florida did.

You don't vote here and are not affected by this country's policies. I don't care what's happening where you live.

I think this statement requires some more research.  These two countries are significantly impacted  by each other.  The physical proximity alone is cause for mutual considerations. On a personal level, I have immediate family as citizens in both countries and we take a keen interest in and care about the politics of both countries.  This thread is about the Coronovirus which has very little respect for borders! ?

1)  What data do you have supporting this?

2)  So if you don't see it firsthand it must not exist?  Hmmmm.

3)  You should do some research as to what caused the first mortgage crisis.

I think what people are forgetting is that the Great Depression didn't destroy us.  In fact, we came out stronger afterwards.  The mortgage crisis didn't destroy us either.  Stop acting like we can't rebound from this like we have everything else.

I thought the Great Depression only ended because of WWII. If we are heading into a depression, I certainly hope that won't be the solution this time.

1. Yes, countries with summer seasons and mild weather also are dealing with this virus.

2. With no one being honest or correct with anything that has gone on with the debacle I only believe what I see yes.

3. I lived through the past mortgage crisis ans a GC so I'm well aware of what caused it. The factors are not the same, not arguing that. But we didn't have 30 million people out of work completely for 3-6 months. And not all of those industries will be allowed to come back at full steam. Many people will lose their business permanently and a strong possibility that they will have no job to return to. A great part of the country was not affected by the previous crash, this time it directly hits everybody. No industries were completely shut down for anywhere near this length of time. In time we will bounce back, but not really at the same time...where do you think all these bailout dollars come from. You seem to be the one who should research how finance and the economy work bud.

Actually, considering that a type of predatory lending aimed at the lower and middle class caused the last crisis, there were more people affected than you lead on. This time it still affects the lower and middle class more than anything.

Oh, and seeing as how you previously stated that you don't care what happens in other countries, you might wanna look up isolationism and see how well that works......Bud.

There's debates about what truly ended it. Some give credit to Truman's administration policies after the war. WWII actually sent out national debt through the roof. Not to say the wartime production didn't help, but it wasn't the sole factor in ending the depression.

I can't see what point you're trying to make here, I can only conclude that you are completely detached from reality

So during this whole thing we are being told to trust the science.  Why don't we listen to the science when it clearly says that men can't be women and vice versa? Obviously there is no science that says anything to the contrary. We live in an age where we apply science when it fits our need or a narrative, but not when it doesn't fit a political or social agenda....Hmmmmm

Right, science politicized is not science at all.  The left does not believe in science, they believe in tyranny and will lie about anything and everything to relentlessly advance that cause.

Minnesota, it was tough to get certain remodel inspections for a couple weeks, but most cities allowed facetime or the like for those. New construction has started to slow but was never forced to shut down. We do everything from new homes to smaller quick jobs  like siding, roofing and windows. I expect the new home market to come to halt by fall. Many new subdivisions have been put on hold around here, lots of uncertainty.

No, it doesn't require research. Canada and the US are not the same country no matter their proximity. They do not share a political system or elected officials. You are commenting on a political comment which I have nicely pointed out doesn't involve you.

In Michigan they shut construction right down March 24th completely if it wasn't critical infrastructure work. I'm a flatwork contractor and we were shut down due to no redi-mix plants delivering. Our Governor let Landscapers go back to work 2 weeks before construction. She let construction open May 7th, I said screw it and went back a week earlier. Not sure how new construction is going to fare but I'm busy with private work. Seems as though people are wanting to spend money on upgrades for their homes. I'm booked at least into August right now.

Over the weekend I saw what happens when the government over reaches in in places like New York and New Jersey. People throw caution to the wind and basically go nuts. They have to get out, damn the torpedos. Where In places like Texas and apparently Georgia and Florida. People stick to guidelines when opening. Because people are trustworthy and don’t feel oppressed. In the 4 times I ate out people were behaving like instructed, following guidelines. Things are looking good so far.

I just saw on CNN just minutes ago a notable uptick in Texas new cases. One of the 17 states showing an up trend. Up from 7 states week prior. Some lower 48 state map being trotted out.

Question for the group. IF your going to toss the CDC under a buss and not trust them then whom do you think has the technical expertise to do what they do? Whose the replacement?

    • www.enginelabs.com/news/what-i-learned-today-bearing-clearances-vs-oil-viscosities/     www.enginelabs.com/news/oil-viscosity-can-the-numbers-be-misleading/ The Big Lie… Coming full circle to the reason Lake discusses the Porsche engines in particular. Based on the 2000 samples in the SPEEDiagnostix database, increasing the oil viscosity in these engines, even those run on the track, showed no significant difference in results.   The smoking gun was in the oil chemistry. That is where the data shows higher instances of more wear. Molybdenum was the key; the higher the amount, the less the wear. Speed postulates that higher viscosity oils have more thickeners to artificially inflate their viscosity numbers. These thickeners lose viscosity under shear, and the result is that not all oils of the same viscosity have the same shear stability.   Having enough viscosity is the most important characteristic, but according to Speed, once that required viscosity level is reached, additive chemistry matters more than additional viscosity. Speed also states, oil pressure problems on the racetrack aren’t a viscosity problem; it’s an oiling system problem. Running a thicker oil is just a band-aid for an underlying oiling system problem.
    • Can it still be Assembled II?   Viscosity on the decline by various means. Heat on the rise making that worse. Engine RPM in the tank. Smaller motors with more boost trying to emulate an electric motor. Full torque, zero rpm. Then we will triple the OCI. Argh.    But wait....there is more. LSPI has pushed a shift from Ca to Mg and as that cost more PLUS the run to lower sulfur compounds the TBN is moving in the wrong direction for the increased OCI's demanded.    That not being enough to placate a demand for a parameter they can't measure the other sulfur bearing compounds are also under attack. That would be zinc and phosphorus sulfonate compounds. To some degree those are being replaced with boron esters and others, i.e. titanium ect. All of which have shorter service lives. And there there is the "Secrete Sauce" marketing for AW adds that 'Can't be detected by UOA's" but trust me because I (the blenders) never ever lie.    Spoiler alert; ALL additives are sacrificial! Smaller amounts of the old blended with less robust versions of the new do not equal longer service lives. So what are the blenders recommending? Wait for it.......   MOVING THE GOAL POSTS! OMG      Let's declare the long standing TAN/TBN crossover irrelevant and tell people that soot is a great 'graphite' based lubricant which can aid tribo films. Wait, what? Let's declare that the standards used for oxidation and nitration were to conservative and can be expanded. Let's tell them that because GDI fuel dilution, although being a VISCOSITY KILLER and an acid generator is actually okay because we have better base oils that limit viscosity failure limits. (Said knowing this is measured in fractions of a centipoise and in bases not commonly used in shelf oils)   Lying from the heart is not just the new normal but we have a public, a very young public, that is so ignorant of the facts and so sure of their "RESEARCH" into AI driven models base in regurgitated  instead of scientific research based unvarnished, peer reviewed FACTS that the incoming guard is loosing their grip on reality and the OEM's are tickled pink while the blends bend the knee.    You have an ever limited set of tools to work with. And sooner or later those will be taken from you as the API and the EPA strangle the last remaining fluids from the system. What you have left is your wits. If you care to use them.    At some point in the very near future it will not longer be possible to do "What is best for the machine", and be replaced with "The best you have access too". You WILL be rewarded with half the life and twice the cost. That isn't that hard to predict.
    • I trust you saw the other comment where he knew what he was talking about !. Yes, these darned newer vehicles with all their so smart they are stupid technology, goes and drains the battery down. As you might see my other comment, I installed a Noco 5 battery tender under the hood and at this point still have the cord routed so I have to lift the hood and then plug it in but am typically parked in a garage or a shed so its not risking the engine hood in the wind. That way I am assured or hopefully so of not finding I have a battery drawn down and can't even start the truck and that also damages the battery to draw it down too far.
    • I guess no surprise my guesses were wrong !, at least now I know if I ever happen to see it grayed out in my own truck as to what is going on.    I never happened to catch my truck with it grayed out, it seemed every time I would test to see if there was an update it never found anything and yet more than once I would check to see if there was an update and there was nothing, then a day later or even that same morning I would drive to town and after more than one engine shut down in town as I did my errands it would pop up that there is an update now ready to install and the only place I have a connection to the internet is at home by wifi so its not as if it grabbed the download while driving. I don't trust these new vehicles due to all the crap they can decide to do while sitting for some days not running and run the battery down so most of the time if I know the truck will sit for a few days I plug in the battery tender I have mounted under the hood and so the only time the truck must have downloaded software was when it was sitting in the garage where the signal is awful but I have that tender plugged in and somehow it managed to download it. I honestly detest all this crap, way to easy to leave a person stranded.    Since I don't trust any of it I don't do the install of the already downloaded software until I get home and sometimes have even sat in the truck to watch what its doing as its going through the process to its conclusion as its not like it is set up that it will tell you the next time you fire up the engine that the update that was initialed actually installed or installed properly. Yes I can go into the updates and see the list. After I go through the install where I feel its safe to do so in case it breaks down as a result, I will plug in the battery tender after the fact to recharge as I don't know how much power its taking just to do the install and that can take a while for it to install.
    • Thanks for the reply. All settings were correct and the engine was off, as it was supposed to be. It turned out to be something simple. I took a drive for about an hour. I must have had a low battery without knowing it. The voltage gauge on the display looked ok. At the end of my drive, I shut off the engine and the update prompt came up and it updated normally. It’s ironic because one of the features of the update is a reduction of battery drain.
