Anyone else have their tailgate handle (guess there actually isn't a handle anymore) pop out when loading an atv or sled? Mine pops out every time. I am not sure if the tailgate flexes that much or what is going on. It is not loose as it takes some good force to snap it back in. I do not have the multi-pro

Happened when I loaded a bunch of lumber, freaked me out a little as the truck was about 2 weeks old.  Glad to see I wasn't the only one, but it is a little worrisome that the tailgate flexes so much.

Next time it happens i will. Theres 2 barbed type clips up top similar to the older style ones. These ones pop out and it gangs out 1/2-3/4". The bottom stays in

I wonder if the plastic tail gate cover has anything to do with the flexing?

Why would it? Lots of trucks have them.

The plastic member is more flexible than a steel member of proportional dimensions.  By default that would allow an engineered unit, utilizing a flexible piece, to flex more than if the member was a more rigidly structured component.  Hell, I hear the plastic creaking and feel it giving when I step on it.  If a single wall of a box is flexible, the remaining 3 walls (assuming an open ended box and not a 6 wall cube) by default flex additionally.

That plastic is not just a protector anymore, it is hollow underneath it

Any update on this? Top of my handle pops out almost every time I put a load on tailgate. I have yet to do any recalls on my truck so I'll see if thats on the list.

Yup, unloading 80lb bags on concrete and had the "handle" fall out enough for me to see it. might grab some glue and place some on the clips on the inside of the tailgate to keep it from falling out so easily.
