I have never had it happen on any other vehicle I have owned, so your guess is as good as mine. I drove less this spring because I ended up working from home - that might have had something to do with it... Seems to me like a problem that should not exist.

Interesting. They can usually be cleaned out through the drain hole. Would have to be something misassembled or misaligned with it being so new. Dash tear downs usually leave you with squeaks and ratt

Any way to prevent this from happening? Anyone have a pic of where to snake from if it does clog?

I had the same problem yesterday with my 2020 Silverado 5k miles on it. I was able to use a 2' long air gun to blow into the outlet hole from the passenger side wheel well after removing it. the tip has a 90 degree elbow so I was able to get it behind the engine. One quick blast cleaned out the drain and about a gallon of water came out. Took me about 20 minutes and most of that was looking for my air gun I never use.

I had the same in my Yukon Denali. I could hear water sloshing around behind the dash when I turned and the passenger side floor was wet.

I got a can of aerosol AC/evaporator cleaner that comes with a flexible hose and nozzle. Most auto parts stores have it for around $15-20. I removed the front wheel liner and and squirted the contents into the drain line. It not only clears the drain line but also cleans the evaporator. Worked very well and not that hard to do.

PLease someone take a picture of where this drain is.  I have a 2020 silverado and the mold/musty smell with onlye 8000 miles on it.  I sprayed some Laysol and a mild bleach solution in the air intake and it so far has cleared it up. but i want to make sure the drain is not plugged.  no water in cab but i honestly have never seen the typical puddle under the truck when I park it ?

Best accessed through the right wheel well.  Its a rubber round plug with a short little flapper valve on it.  Just above the right side of the transmission.  Either turn or remove the wheel for best access.

Mine started to smell musty within a couple months of when I I bought my truck.   The dealership sprayed something in it when I first mentioned it, but it only lasted a few weeks.   I tried the various A/C cleaning foams and sprays but just the same, they are just temporary.  

I now just take out the cabin air filter when it starts stinking and spray Lysol in there while the A/C fan is on, then shut it off a while and let it soak in.  This has been my regular spring, summer and fall routine for the last 5 years !

Nothing in this post even remotely resembles anything on my 2021 5.3 4WD Sierra.

 

Just spent the last hour trying to find the AC drain "Hose" or "Nipple" or whatever you want to call it and cant find it. The location descriptions don't make any sense in relation to my truck,. Nothing on the right side of the trans from front to back of it. The picture thats posted doesn't resemble anything on my truck related to AC hoses or any hoses. There are nipples that are similar but those are attached to wiring harnesses that go thru the firewall.

I did trim up the sound deadening material that was indeed soaked with water at the bottom corner of the front fender so at least I accomplished something.

Our techs usually pull the RF wheel and wheel liner out and go from the side.

I had the same problem. i ended using ozium for the mold and pushing some air though the exit hole (multiple times).

I'm thinking this isn't for 2019 or newer models.

      The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.

      Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.

      I can't believe that could possibly be the case. It should be 36mo/100k miles from installation. Then again, it also seems like since a dealership installed it, it'd all be in the system and you wouldn't need to worry about registering, either. Shows you what I know. 😄 Hope this one outlives the warranty!

      I haven't seen inventory recovery from COVID.    In the few random times I 'build my own' truck or SUV, no one has the exact one I want.   GM has been working to lower incentives too for a long time.    A $500 incentive isn't getting me off the couch to go truck shopping.
