Hello,

I have a 2020 sierra Elevation with standard tailgate. I was wondering if I can replace it with a multi pro tailgate, if it'll just be a plug and play with my stock harness or what can i do to make it work. I have a local seller here selling it for $500 came from his denali. Thank you in advance

Even if it doesn't work on your truck, purchase it and you can turn around and sell it for double easily.

I do believe someone talked about this once and the tailgate is a different width? IIRC

I really need a center section of the multipro tailgate. Preferably in satin steel metalic. Tailgate mysteriously went down while hauling a car trailer and when turning, tailgate got into the  tongue jack. Still works just makes my 2021 at4 look "not new"

You can't just add it. My dealer looked into it when they were trying to find a Trail Boss Custom with the MultiFlex tailgate. The box wiring harness is totally different for the tailgate and in order to add it would run about $3K.

That's likely with the cost of the tailgate at OEM prices.  I'd personally take Gangly's advice if it's the same color.

So I picked up a 2021 AT4 Multipro Tailgate in my trucks color for $600, bought the camera/buttons assembly and the non surroundview harness. He kept the camera/buttons assembly and harness to keep the surroundview working. I assembled and installed and the midgate does not function. Hearing that this might BCM programming issue. Anyone have any advice on a programmer that can turn the feature on?

I just did a multi-pro swap for my 22 Silverado and it was relatively easy.  Luckily all of the wiring and relays were there for the minor gate.  For starters I cut the ground wire to the mid gate switch.  I needed to get 12V to this.  (I know I am talking ground and 12V, but stay with me here...)  At the Chassis side of the tailgate harness there is 12V Battery at Pin 1.  this was ran for trucks with the power up option.  My truck had the fuse and ckt already.  So I cut the lead out of the connector and ran a new wire up through the tailgate following the factor harness and connected it to the ground side of the pin on the minor gate switch.  The other end of the switch is the yellow lead that goes back to the BCM to signal the button was pressed.  Again I happen to have the minor gate relays and wiring on my standard gate LTZ, so I don't know what other trims it was also there. I needed to use this new 12V ckt I made to go direct to the two relays top drop the minor gate.  At the BCM I cut the Yellow switch wire (Pin X6-15) and connected it to relay outputs White/Gray (Pin X6-7) and Gray/Blue (Pin X7-7).  From the BCM this relay output was power to ground.  So by starting my switch at the 12V+ I just created a new ckt though the switch to the relays and down to GND.  I did pull the 30A endgate fuse while I was doing all this.  It all works!  The only downside is when the vehicle is locked, this ckt is still powered and will open upon press. I have the factory up fitter switches too, so I think I will use one of them as a disable possibly.  Should be really easy as the BCM is right below the upfitter switches.  The multipro I got was the same color truck but a GMC.  I still need to swap the emblems.  Waiting on a good sunny warm day to make that chore a little easier.

I KNEW IT.  I had a GM guy telling me at the Auto show that the GMC tailgates wouldn't physically fit on the Silverado, and that neither the GMC or Silverado adjustable tailgate would fit on a truck that didn't come from the factory with it.  I called BS and he couldn't tell me why.  Thanks for doing us all a service Sharpie.

The place there is a fit issue is 2500/3500 vs 1500.

The heights are different.

Yea I meant to mention that too.   All Chevy/GMCs for 2500/3500 are the same and all 1500's are the same, but NOT interchangeable.   Thanks Redwngr.  I'll also mention the only Bowtie that seemed to be for a HD Chevy w/ muli-flex was the black bowtie.  I ended up buying a 1500 gold bowtie and I'll stick that on.

So is yours you did the swap on a 1500 or a 2500/3500?

My Silverado is a 22 3500 Dually LTZ Trim. I guess I need to add that to my profile.
