WeGone Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Been watching this , Happy to see someone found the fix as mine has been crooked from day one, just hate to have a dealer work on it. Good help is hard to find.
odarevliS Posted February 7, 2022 Author Posted February 7, 2022 Transient, I shared the info you provided on the camera bezel being the root cause of the distorted camera angle with the service rep. Just to prove it to myself, I compressed the bezel at the center to close the gap between the bezel and tailgate. It worked to align the camera to the center. I shared that with him also. They have a bezel on order. I’ll post a follow up when it’s installed. Thanks again for all your help.

Denali_Joe Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Man this drives me nuts I have a 21 and they wouldn’t do anything because all of them on the lot were like this. I took it apart and couldn’t find anything that looked out of place. Crooked steering wheel and camera haha.
odarevliS Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 A tech told my service rep in November 2020 that that’s the way their supposed to be. I didn’t believe it. You should look at Transient’s posts on this and share what resolved the issue with your service department. If all of the trucks on the dealers lot had the same issue, that doesn’t make it right. That just means they all have the same defect.
Transient Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 Bad news everybody. The problem has returned, but not as bad as before. It is the bezel. Instead of taking it to the dealer (because I'm mad at GM for the loss of my factory navigation) I decided to take a look at it myself. The issue can be fixed via a little elbow grease by sanding down the passenger edge of the bezel, but it looks like the square bracket holding the camera into the bezel is a bad design. The camera has room to move, and the edges do not surround the camera the full 360 degrees. You might be able to shim the camera angle in the bracket, but there isn't much room to work with. That's why I went after the bezel. It's more forgiving to modify.
odarevliS Posted February 11, 2022 Author Posted February 11, 2022 Thanks Transient. My service advisor told me they had ordered a new bezel for my truck. Another trick you might try is to reshape the bezel. I believe you can compress the bezel in the center enough to realign the camera straight, then use a high powered hair dryer and gently heat the bezel to conform it to the compressed shape. I compressed mine with an adjustable clamp to align it after you told me about the bezel. If a new bezel doesn’t fix it, that’s what I will do. 1
Old marine Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 My 2021 Silverado backup camera is angled too low. Can’t really see much behind me. Also went by 2 dealerships. They didn’t even look at it. Just said it’s not adjustable. Hmmmm. Surely this can be fixed somehow. Does anyone know a fix. Thanks

Anna Carridine Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 Any update on the backup camera being angled down issue? Thanks!!
speedfreak233 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 I am taking the worst time with the backup camera on my 20 silverado Ltz. It is showing way too far down. It worked fine for years and all of the sudden it just changed position. There was no accident no damage and nothing had been changed. Since then I have shimmer the camera itself which will bring it up a little but nowhere near where it should be. I replaced the camera, first it projected beautifully....but it was inverted. Once that squared itself away it went right it back to downward angle. I taped the camera outside of the housing in a vertical position and still downward. It has to be something with software or a damaged coax(unlikely). Anyone else have this happen and able to fix?
avalanched Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 This happened to me today on my 22LTD LT TB. It is now pointing down to the bow tie. Does anyone know if the bezel has been updated since these problems began in 2021?
