Buy a Toyota if this is GM's new way to sell a truck.🤔

Let the lot know what you are doing, then bring back the Tundra and show them your new truck.

I am one of the most loyal GM people you will find, but if they do not want to deal, or take my money, no problem at all going to brand X

Go ahead and buy that Toyota. That is if you can live with 15-16 MPG Highway!!

Ok All.. I am in the Market Now and no one has posted on this topic as of late... Please take a moment and tell us what kind of deals you are finding... I have been using all the search engines and looking NATIONWIDE and not finding what I am looking for under MSRP... I am looking for a RST Rally Edition or a LTZ with 22" wheels... Getting sick of the Bait and Switch tactics these Search Engines are using to get you to click on Certain Trucks.. They give you an EPrice that Includes all of the Potential Rebates where no one would qualify for all...

Thanks for reading,

Dan

Local dealer here has 7 GMC's with 6/2L coming, 3 Denali's, 2 AT4 and 2 SLT and they are below MSRP but not by much.  Long ways from you though.

Only 2 RST but none are Rally Edition, 1 is All Star no 22-inch wheels.  1 of the Denali's does.

Most dealers are doing MSRP - rebates. Right now the only rebate on Silverados is $750 if you own a Ford, Ram, Toyota pickup. Sierras have $250 for financing with GMF, $550 rebate, and $500 if you own or lease a Buck/GMC. Both trucks have 0% for 4 years.

We have a couple of dealers trying to charge a market adjustment, but most aren't.

I finally stumbled across two leftover 2021 Silver Ice Rally Sport Identical trucks.. One 120 miles away has a Promising Eprice of 4614 below MSRP which includes $1250 in Incentives.. I am having them Give me a Quote on my Current Truck as a Trade in... I also Have an appointment today with CarMax to give me a Quote on my Truck... I plan on taking all this info to the other dealer that's 20 miles away and seeing if they can beat (or at least match) the offers..

Stay Tuned..

No deals.

No inventory near me. N.W. of Minneapolis.

Yesterday I paid sticker plus $3000 on a 2022 LTD LTZ. Sticker was a tick under $60,000.

Crappy deal but got $4500 less than I paid on my 2018 new (69,000 miles) for trade so it's a wash. Sad.

BTW I probably wouldn't have bought a new truck right now but was forced into it due to a dealer service dept. F up.

Most dealers here in So. Cal. are charging 4-5k over too. Then one day saw an add for 3k off MSRP at a dealer out of area. Called them to ask, what's the catch? Sales rep said the price you're seeing is good. Drove to dealer and left a few hours later with my new 2021 LT. That was a total of 7K off from my local dealer 3 miles away.

This was back late last Nov.

Also, they had only about 7 trucks on the lot.

This dealer has 18 new 2022 Silverado's and 9 Sierra's and they are NOT marked up, $500-$1000 below MSRP.   I bought my last truck there and they are nearby.....

Ok.. I have an update… My plan to get the (2) dealers to fight it our didn’t pan out because the Closer Dealer Sold the Truck.. Plus they didn’t seam the Negotiating type after their long speech of how they “Are sticking to MSRP even though a lot of other dealers are Marking Up”.. As if they are doing a good thing.

Here is the beginning offer from the further dealer for a 2021 Silverado 1500 4X4 Silver ICE with Rally Edition Package and Leather. Their web page showed the following “EPRICE” in this order:

MSRP: 58075

Sale Price: 54,961

Customer Cash: -750

Competitive Cash: -750

EPRICE: 53461

SAVINGS: 4614

Very nice right.. So I was hooked and gave them a call to see what’s really up.. Meanwhile I had already gotten Trade in Pricing for my 2014 Silverado LTZ 4X4 with 22’s and 45k miles.. Very Good Condition. Prices from Auto Trader, We Buy any Car, KBB, Edmunds, TruCar Ranged from 28250 to 29500.

SO the First thing I found out right away was the 54961 Sale Price Included a 2,000 Trade in Assistance. They offered me 27,500 for my Truck after sending them Pics and Filling out an Appraisal Form.

Then they Started Explaining the Pricing to me In a Backwards way telling me the EPRICE didn’t include Freight (Destination) Charge of 1,695, Wheel Locks of 99 and Documentation Fee of 500. The gave me a number of 52,211 (No Idea Where that came from) + 1695 + 99 + 500 = 54,505.. So at the time I am like That’s More than the EPRICE so I tried to get them down and they wouldn’t budge…

So that night I decided to Take the Truck to CARMAX to get their price… The offered me 31,000 and that was good until tomorrow 02-18-22… SO I Texted them the PIC of CARMAX’s Offer and they Still Wouldn’t budge… 2 days Go Buy and I was Exhausting Myself Searching the Country for a Below MSRP deal.. I found a few but didn’t have the 22” Wheels or was to far and costly to Ship or Didn’t have Leather, Etc. SO I called them Tuesday 02-15-22 I said Come down 500 more I will buy it right now and they said NO..

Wednesday Morning I Searched around for New Listings and decided to Pop Back into This Dealers Web Page, Looked at the Truck AND…. IT WAS LISTED 631 LESS THAN THE DAY BEFORE!!!! Man, I got that feeling (You know what I am Talking About) and was like LETS GOOOOOOOO! I called them As soon as the OPENED and mentioned it… The Sales Manager said it was some kind of Internet Issue BUT they will honor the price.  The plan now it to Take the Almost 3 hour Drive Saturday and finish the deal..

Today Thursday I will get all this in Writing (My Salesman was not in the office Yesterday) before I make the trip out...

My Price Should be 53,874 (7.2% or 4201 Below MSRP)..

It turned out because I live in NJ and the Sales TaX is the Price of the NEW Vehicle Minus the Trade IN,  that Selling to CARMAX for 31,000 and LOSING my 2000 trade In Assistance and the Tax Incentive it would have Costed me ~500 more.. And my 27500 Trade In Price is Actually worth 27500 X 1.06625 (NJ Sale Tax is 6.625%) = 29321..

We will see what Happens Saturday and will follow up..

In 2014 I paid 27k for a Texas Edition GMC that was discounted 15K  it wasn’t a 4WD. Your getting that this many years later. So your making up the difference on the inflated price on the new one. In reality pre Covid your trade in would probably been around 18K at the outside. Not a bad deal. I’m surprised they’re wasting time on you.

I listen to a podcast every Saturday called carpro on IHeartRadio. There’s also a website he runs called carpro USA. He’s an ex dealership owner. You can join for free and get the latest discounts on new and use vehicles. He has preferred dealer networks of all brands. It may be worth a look.

    • I was around and remember that era very well, so I'm calling b/s on that statement. If they were that bad no police department or taxi company would've bought a single one ... but they were used in both services (and fire) for DECADES. They were bulletproof and proven. Even the early 21st century ones weren't too bad! The early models were legendary.   Mine is proof, but people like atlas are blinded by agenda and refuse to believe facts right before their very eyes.   Even decades after they were built, a new generation started driving them, posting all their builds and shenanigans on Grandmarq.net and Crownvic.net. The failures would show up then, since they all were deep past 100k-150k miles by that point, and younger drivers tend to be a little aggressive, especially with vehicles than can lay a one-tire fire for as long as you hold your foot in it. They've more than proven themselves over the decades.   The only thing that'll really take them out is road salt. The bodies and sheet metal were garbage. A victim of the cheapout FoMoCo and GM have been partaking in before then, and since.   Today it's the stuff that counts - the undercarriage that rots away first!    GMs Caprice was no slouch either. Reliable as a stone ax - the opposite of what they build now.
    • Let me know how your vehicles do in 10 years. You don't know ******, kid. 😂    There's a reason that Panther platform was used as police, fire, and taxi service for DECADES ... long before you were born, apparently.
    • If your connector also has a big lever to get the connector on and off, you don't want to force the lever either way, as it becomes a bigger problem if you bust the lever or the mechanism it works.
    • It's just useful to disconnect the battery to prevent odd shorting out when unplugging/plugging stuff together.  I also  touch the two cable ends together (after disonnecting) to drain the small amount of stored battery energy in various modules.   I believe the main system where you need to be more concerned with, so you need to do the above and then wait some time, iss when you are working on the air bag system, to prevent inadvertent firing of the air bags.   The in-cab switches are just that, plain switches, it's generally not a problem to swap them in/out.  For my '12, I'll get an error message on the dash if I power up the truck w them unplugged, but that's it (power up= turn the ignition on).   The ITBC located above the spare tire is a computer that manages the trailer brake system.  That is probably more important to have the battery disconnected.  It does have to be programmed to the truck, either before or after it's installed, for it to work.  For my '12, I had a very hard time reinstalling the main connector to it (IDK if yours is the same or not), it turned out the silicon seal was jamming up, preventing it from going on all the way.  I finally got it fully installed by lubing the seal with a bit of dielectric grease, then it slid on and latched in place easily.
    • JR ! I just got the truck back from the Dealership today . The technician did a cold remote start on the truck this morning and it made the noise . It was determined that it was a starter issue and replaced it under warranty . Of course   it did not make the sound after a new starter was put in because the truck was not cold . We will we see what happens tomorrow morning when I start the truck cold  . Keep tuned !   Oh I found a video on YouTube of a cold start and it did the same thing your truck and mine do , I will see if I can find it and post it up
