Today while towing my travel trailer with my 2022 chevy 1500 lt duramax, I got this message display on the dashboard (dic). Warning vehicle/trailer weight may exceed combined gross vehicle weight rating. Any idea what cause this warning message to display? I know the weight of the truck and trailer are way below the gcwr, same for the tongue weight. Thanks for your input.

I get the same message on my dash information center. I went to the scale and noticed I still had 2500 lbs before I hit the 15,000 GCWR. I also have a 2022 Silverado LT Crew Cab with he 5.3 engine. I have pictures of my weight at the scale with trailer and my information plate from the door of the truck. In case you have issues I will list my weights below:

Steer Axle: 3200 LB

Drive Axle: 3240 LB

Trailer Axle: 6060 LB

Gross Weight: 12500

My information plate states:

GAWR FRT 3800 LBS

GAWR RR 3800 LBS

GCWR 15000 LBS

Any answers on why this is happening? I will also email you the information.

Do you guys have a leveling suspension out back by chance?  The computer knows it should squat so much at such weight and may be the case.  TFL Truck saw this message but I do not remember if it was for GM pickups.  We're still running leaf springs and regular shocks right?

I wonder if it sensed being ''close'' to the limit in GM's mind to cover their butts, so it set the warning. Lots of folks towing over their head so it may default to an early warning for the ''average'' owner, not experienced folks who actually scaled their rig.

I'm wondering how system figures this out. Calculates throttle input, road speed, what gear it's in and factors all of that together?

I got the same message with my 2023 Silverado 1500 with the 6.2 and my GVWR is 15000 and the total weight of what I'm towing plus the truck cargo and passengers is 13200.

I also received this message on my 2022.5 GMC 1500 with the 2.7.  I know for certain my trailer is not over gross with the weight of the truck. I didn’t receive this type of message until a recent technical update was done. I’m assuming when I last took my truck in for a recall fix. At that point they did an update to the trailer brake that previously was not working. I typically get the code when accelerating, such as from a stop sign at an incline or when the wind is dragging, or when on the interstate even at lower speeds.
I am very concerned this is to void a future warranty claim. The very reason I purchase new vehicles.

I certainly follow the manufacturer guidelines such as higher octane gasoline but I’m definitely concerned that GM is looking for an excuse.

Traded for a '23 which has this feature, so thought I'd look up what the manual says about it.

(I haven't towed yet...)

Gross Combined Weight (GCW) Alert

If equipped, the GCW Alert can display a message in the Driver Information Center (DIC), indicating that the estimated
combined weight of the vehicle and trailer may exceed the vehicle’s GCWR, under certain circumstances. See “Gross Combined Weight Rating” above.

The vehicle does not actually measure the loaded weight of your vehicle or trailer.

It uses vehicle data to estimate these weights after you begin a trip.

The alert will not activate unless:
. The feature is turned on in the trailering application. See Trailering App pg 321.
. The vehicle-trailer combination have been used enough together for the software to estimate the combined vehicle and trailer weight.
. The estimated weight could exceed the vehicle’s maximum GCWR.

and from the Trailering App section (app info starts on page 321, this is from pg 327)

I Just bought a ‘22 Silverado Refresh 1500. Before installing air springs I towed the same trailer with the same weight (well under GCVW and conventional trailer weight) and had no alerts. Installed air springs and now I get the warning (conditions unchanged except air springs). I am assuming that they have something to do with the calculations the computer is making. 🤷‍♂️

WTI futures <> current 4-7% inflation and national average gas price over $4.00/gallon.   The spot price, at delivery, is currently $87-$95/barrel which is why gas prices remain high.   Edit: oH mY gOd mEnTaL BrEaKdoWn In tHE pOsT aBOve mInE. • He does, actually. In another unrelated video he mentions the president called him in the middle of the night to relay some information on a cause (religious based) that he's invested in. Glenn expressed concern that another leftist administration could wield too much power with some procedure the Pentagon was using, classifying certain religions a certain way. Being that he is LDS (Latter Day Saints), he gets hate all the time from ALL over the political spectrum, so he's invested in this. Trump called him back at 5AM to tell him he had made some changes to that classification.   So, yes, they are and have been in contact regularly since the start of the administration. Glenn, of course, always asks his permission before discussing anything on the air.   I already spent an hour or more just searching for these videos. I may have my numbers wrong - I'm not a numbers guy. It may have been a MILLION barrels, not 1.5. The point is, our President, by his actions, gives a crap about America, and US - this is completely OPPOSITE the actions of the prior administration who projected hatred for anyone who wasn't following the left's edicts in lock-step.   Remember, they called January 6th an "Insurrection", when there were ZERO weapons among the crowd, undercover FBI agents agitating the crowd, along with paid leftists acting as aggressors, egging the crowd on in an attempt to whip everyone into a frenzy. It's all been proven.  Pelosi refused Trumps request for more National Guard troops. This smells 100% like an inside job for those with critical thinking skills. Only a handful of guys in the crowd got wrapped up in that, thankfully, but EVERYONE was searched out based on cell phone data, and charges were brought against many. And 6 or so people were locked up and left in solitary confinement for YEARS with ZERO due process!! If you give the slightest crap about our Nation, REGARDLESS of your political leanings, this should frighten you to your core. This is what men suffered, bled, fought, and died against 250 years ago!   This has gone FAR BEYOND left vs. right. This is a  threat to America, and our way of life. This is PRECISELY why Trump, a BILLIONAIRE who could have chosen to take Melania and sit on some tropical island that he could afford to buy himself and RELAX, instead chose to run for office, get hate from literally every corner of the media, get ATTEMPTS on his LIFE constantly, and begin to repair some of the severe damage that's been done to this Great Nation.   I don't know why I bother wasting my precious time here. Everyone has their minds made up. They won't realize we all were correct until it's too late ... after they elect another tyrant that hates America to office (Obama), or another puppet whose administration is secretly running the show behind the scenes (Biden).
    • Hello, Im in a bit of a bind maybe someone could help me out.  We towed our trailer, up a pretty steep incline (395 north of Bishop) done it before no issues. I got to our campground turn truck off, i restarted the truck about an hour later  and check engine light turns on. Found DTC P2C48,  unable to reset.  This morning i removed the plug, there's 12.12v at the plug. Reservoir near firewall is full of coolant, checked for leaks nothing. I dont hear or feel the pump turning on. My dilemma, is nearest dealer  is 4hrs away that has the pump instock. Is it safe to drive? By me checking the available voltage at the connector and not hearing/feeling pump turn on, is it a bad pump? Please help...
