I use the OBDLink MX and the OBDLink SX for analysis and active monitoring.  The MX is bluetooth and allows for unlimited vehicle make and models with free updates.  By far the best OBD Scanner and diagnostics aide I have ever used.  Also includes diagnostics for manufacture and vehicle specific systems.

Gangly, sorry for bumping an old thread, do you use the obdlink app or something else?

I use the manufacturers app.  I have not tried to use any other app, but I would be willing to try if I thought it would work.  The OBDLink software still has some limited communication issues with 2020+ GM trucks.

Dumb question - can any of these scan tools allow you access to the TCM to do the transmission relearn?

The TopDon I purchased does offer a TCM relearn function. I didn't mess with it because I like how my truck is shifting currently!

I want to rebuild the valve body in my 8 speed but I have to do a TCM rebuild after. Threw a wrench in my plans that I am going to have to pay for.

I second this. The OBDLINK MX+ allowed for OEM functions. If you have a diesel you can even monitor and force regens.

Question if anyone knows. Will it work with the 2022 model GMC? I have looked at many and right now they stop at 2021 most of them. And the ones I am reading on here, such as the MX+, do not state, they just say 1998 and up. I want to make sure since all the other models seem to stop at 2021, will this do 2022? And if it makes any difference it is a half year model.

I have a 2022 GMC Sierra AT4 6.2L

The half year makes ALL the difference. They changed the computer system from Global A to Global B with the refresh in 22.5.

I highly recommend this one because I and my friends have been using it without any problems.

Really?  You and your friends all use Caterpillar trucks to drive around in?

I reported it as spam last night when I got the notification.

On the actual topic, I ordered a Mucar 892BT scanner and waiting for it to get here. It and the Thinkcar that's the essentially the same model, both made by the same company have gotten great reviews. Got a good deal off ebay plus there was an ebay motors coupon off so getting it for $482.35 shipped. It has lifetime updates so no subscription crap like the TOPDON bluetooth dongle I had purchased. It can still be used as a scanner but to do any actual diagnostics I have to purchase a new one year subscription.

i just got the topdon topscan master, it won't do half of the things they claim on my 2020 silverado. i contacted them and they said it should and to reload the software, still a fail. they claim my truck has a connection problem. funny i can hool up my autel and it works fine.

Why'd you buy another scanner if you already have one?
