Does anyone use regular gas in their truck, if so what effect does it have?

Best case... Slight loss of power and decrease in fuel economy.  Worst case misfire.  Never tried it in my 20.... My 07 with a 6.2 hated anything but premium.

I've started blending. I usually fill up around a half tank all the time so now I will alternate between 93 and 87. If for some reason I run to a quarter tank or even below I'll fiil with 93.

93 or bust.  6.2 does not like anything less.

The engine is tuned/set up the to run on 91 octane. 93 is fine but not required..or spec'd in the manual.

This is because 93 octane is not readily available out west.  Most stations around me have 87/89/93 octane at the pump.  A couple have 87/89/91/93.  The 91 is usually less than $.10 difference, so I just use the 93.

Colorado 85/87/91 oct. 30+ cents a gallon for 87, 55-60 cents plus for premium.

With the exception of my current ride I tuned my trucks to run on premium for more performance. Paying extra for the 6.2 then putting regular gas in doesn’t compute in my little brain. I’ve heard on some car related programs that running regular gas in premium tuned engines causes no harm. They’ll just detune.

It'll pull timing so it doesn't knock (or at least to try and reduce the knock) --  which makes it unable to make the power you paid all the extra money to get.

Tried 87 and 93 octane, not hauling heavy loads. I get the same gas mileage with 87 or 91 octane.

Octane rating has nothing to do with the amount of 'energy per gallon'.

Only with how it burns .
