I want to force the dealer to update mine because it's getting worse and worse. I no longer have parking lines on my cameras for some reason... But I don't want to make things even worse.

Have you tried a hard reboot? Press and hold the hangup button until the system power cycles.

Thanks, I already have to do that a few times a week just to keep things partially functional.

I went this morning for the update.  I was there for a little less than two hours.  According to my paperwork I received the update ending in -05.  As mentioned here this apparently does not include the radio update as I still have Android 10 and versions that are over two years old.

Got mine back today.

Was gonna post pics, but the info is exactly the same as these two pictures that White LTZ posted.

Work Order says N242435631  -- but does not indicate a dash with a revision number

Description for it says Serial Gateway Module and Radio.

There is also a wcc number listed --- I don't know what a wcc number is...

Also had recall repair -- N242447990  Failed Brake Fluid Leak Detection

(who new there was a brake fluid leak detector??)

This is Brake System Control Module Reprogramming with SPS  ...and it gives a different wcc number...

This truck also needed a new battery, which was also installed.

So far everything still seems to be working correctly.

All settings seem to have been retained.

Seems to be working as before.

I could care less about the Android version number, it works (on the rare times I activate it) so that's all that matters.

I wish we never needed the extra layer.

So far, haven't discovered any downside to the update.

The "Android version number" is the base operating system for the Infotainment system and is part of Android Automotive (which is NOT the same thing as Android Auto). Every time you start the truck, that software loads and shows you things like radio info, the clock, and anything else on the display but it also operates the radio, HVAC, parking sensors, stop/start, and a bunch of other stuff. It's actually fairly important to keep this up to date for general operation of all kinds of things as well as ensuring that the latest security patches are installed.

So now I'm curious. What version should it being showing for "Android version number"?

Am I looking at the correct thing, but calling it by the incorrect name?

Truck currently says there are no outstanding updates .... which is what I would expect after the dealer updates just completed.

Mine is showing Build Number full_gminfo37_gb-user 12

My kernel version is 4.19.255

And my security patch level is Feb 5, 2024

None of these are the most current ones and are ALL slightly older than ones posted by others in this thread. However, like you, my truck shows no updates available and I suspect that the specific builds that are newer that some other folks have is likely related to specific trim levels or features that they have that I do not. In other words, I don't like how GM handles their software and updates (they are HORRIBLE at this), but there's nothing I can do to force a newer build onto my truck so I'm good with it.

Any chance the factory recall for software update N242435631 "serial data gateway module" will fix the erratic windshield wiper issue? This update is for the radio and serial communication firmware. Doesn't sound like this software update has been going very smooth by looking at the posted information on this recall. It is potentially causing more problems than it solves. I'm taking my time getting the update in hopes more bugs get worked out by the software engineers.

I'm not aware of any changes to the SOFTWARE that they are installing. The only thing that I know that has changed has been whether or not they do any software updates (i.e. radio) beyond the module. They updated the Infotainment system in my truck and it did fix a couple of issues, but I now have new problems that were actually supposed to have been fixed by this update. SMH

And totally as an aside - what the hell is the point of offering a wireless charger in these trucks if it doesn't work? We took an hour's drive last night, using Waze / Android Auto, and my phone refused to stay in a charging state for most of the drive no matter what I did. Every so-called "fix" that has been offered is not an actual fix for whatever is wrong with this thing - it's clearly something related to how it interoperates with phones and there's no rhyme or reason to why the charging mode stops and there is no additional information available for the purposes of understanding the problem.

What is the erratic wiper issue?

Do you have the rain-sensing wipers?

I know what he means,my 2024 LT 1500 has this issue.  Glad to see it just not me. Just out of the blue you use the turn signal and wipers cycle.  Sometimes once or 3 times.  Seems if I turn on signal down towards steering column it don't do it.

I had this recall done in late August shortly after it came out because the gauges don't always come on in my truck when I start it and was hoping maybe this would fix that as well.  Only the speedo and RPM gauges don't come on.  I have to flip to display settings and change the gauge layout and then back to the one I use and then they come on.

Anyway, my infotainment is on Android 12 and the version I have is Y172.6.1.  I only have one annoying issue since I had it done to mine.  My infotainment system always now does a super slow startup (regardless what the startup setting is set to) and I hear the Android screen unlock sound every time I start my truck before the screen loads.  It sometimes takes close to a minute to fully boot up.  I disconnected my negative battery terminal a few times and that seems to fix it for a day or 2 and then it goes back to the same issue. I even factory reset my system and set it all up from scratch last night and went out this morning with the same slow startup issue.   I haven't noticed any other negative effects.

I have the same speedo and RPM non appearing issue. I have found that if I wait till the infotainment center is longer into it's boot up sequence that it does not happen. But if I get in the truck and hit the start button just as the radio screen is booting up, I can get the issue to happen every time. But I also noticed it does not happen if truck was started up recently. It seems to happen when truck sits over nite and on the first cold start up the next day. And I fix it the same way you do. I got the recall done 11/19/24 and my build number did not change from what it was before and I'm, still at Android 10.  I'm on the fence about pushing for the android 12 update because of all the problems I see on this forum with it. Now that I know if I just wait another 2 seconds before starting my truck up, the speedo and rpm gage will work.  Question, since your at level 12 and build number at 172.6.1, have you had the speedo and rpm issue anymore?

That's caused by changing the intermittent wiper setting. I had this same issue and discovered it's because you're slightly rotating the intermittent settings enough that it registers a change. The wipers wipe once if you change it one notch - try it manually and you'll see. The switch doesn't even have to be moved to a new position fully, it will register a change with a slight movement that leaves it in the same position.

It's just a really bad physical placement of that control on the turn signal stalk, and a strange implementation of auto-wipers where you need that intermittent setting enabled in order to turn on auto wipers vs. a dedicated button.
