I switched mine over to the 0W40, my reasoning is since the 6.2 engine in the Camaros and Corvettes are using the 40 weight, and the truck engines use the same bearings. Also GM is using the 40 weight for this recall. Mobil 1 makes a 0W30 Dexos approved oil that a guy could use, as well the 5W30 is used in Europe in these engines so I don't think you can really go wrong with any oil you use, I just don't feel comfortable with the 20 weight.

Just wondering about all the 6.2s in this recall range that failed after the original warranty and the owners had to pay out of pocket to repair them. Do you think GM will help them in any way?

Yes, if the individuals file for it like I did with my 2.7 emissions pump issue.

It says so right in the recall, so if you read it, it tells you how.

I have not yet received my letter in the mail and am the original purchaser, so I'd expect that to be arriving soon. However has anyone had their local dealership cold call them to schedule a service appointment regarding the recall? Just received such a call about an hour ago, but wasn't able to answer so they left a detailed VM and extension to call back.

Mine called me then texted me days later. I finally called on Monday and scheduled it for Friday. Figured even though I changed my oil about 1500 miles ago I might as well get this out of the way. I needed a couple of warranty items looked at anyway.

Recall letter wasn't going to be mailed out until June 9th per info previously in this thread. It is also a staged roll out so not everyone will receive it at the same time so as not to overwhelm the dealers.

Please let us know what your result is after Friday. I'm interested in knowing if ANYONE, who has not had an otherwise obvious engine issue, is really found to need their engine replaced based on the Picoscope test.

A member on the F150 Forums did that with the axle bolt failures for over a year. Lots of work.

My friends 2024 Yukon 6.2 with 12,000 miles went out 2 weeks ago. She wasn't even aware of the recall. It was making a terrible rattling. Called the dealership from the side of the road asking for a tow. Dealership asked is it drivable? Said technically yes, but it's not going to be pretty! As instructed she limped it to the dealership, who confirmed 2 days later that motor needs to be replaced.

Dealership placed them in a brand new Acadia for a loaner, but this family has been buying trimmed out cars from this particular dealership every 2-3 years for a long time... So they likely get special treatment. Dealership says expect 2 months on waitlist..

Our 2021 Yukon 6.2L continues to run just fine, about to hit 70,000 miles. Recall says remedy not available, so we haven't gotten our pico test yet.. 2020 Sierra 6.2L (not under recall) at 80,000 and no issues (knock on wood with crossed fingers)..

Thanks for posting this. I'm concerned that if mine needs a motor that I end up in a loaner that won't be able to tow my bass boat, which is the whole reason I got this truck to begin with.

your future is my ecodiesel if you get the 0w-40 oil. 138,000 miles just roasted the rear main most likely based on noise next to the bell housing. caught it immediately with the "new diesel knock" which isn't that easy to catch being a diesel. drove it 60 extra miles to get the forbidden glitter on new oil and filter, jackpot bingo card on the glitter, she's dunzo. as a matter of history, stellantis did a recall on the ecodiesel to reprogram the transmission shift points to removing low rpm lugging on the crankshaft and main bearings. they also changed the oil weight to 0-40. i didn't do oil analysis on it but i caught it immediately. there was no extended warranty offered by stellantis and no engine replacement unless you were already under warranty. i had 120,000 mile warranty and she gave up at 138,000. 2018 quad cab ecodiesel for sale, needs a bottom end rebuild. few shops line hone them and put in oversized and wider bearings, coat the pistons, and use superior bearings from germany than the ****** ventormotori used, trash bi-metal. top end, cam, all likely fine. no rust.... and nobody will want it.
