Very cool. GM Needs these asap. They will cost less to build, plus if the interiors are similar (which they should be) to the SUVs, everyone will be amazed. I've sat in all three of the new 07 SUVs (Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade), and the quality of the materials is outstanding. The Tahoe was above current Escalade quality!

Awesome. Looks like sometime in 07 I will be looking at trucks again.

So I could have a little nest egg going in the "New Truck Fund". Actually I would if I wasn't coming up with more to do around the house before I even get the last little improvement done.

The problem is this though. Just like when the Silverado was first introduced in '99, they won't be able to build them fast enough. Dealer allocation will prevail and unless you want to go to a large dealership and pay full MSRP while taking a complete bath on what you currently drive, you won't get one. Smaller towns may get one half ton truck, but it will be months if you order one. In the end, the current generation will take an even bigger hit because of it now being an old model on top of all the employee and red tag pricing that is going on now.

*sigh*

Same here. I havent really bought anything truckwise in a long time. I have been thinking about a new exhaust (magnaflow). Probably wait until spring. The house and tools are sucking up my $$$. I am banking on my GF graduating college in 2008 then I am home free haha.

I wont buy the 1st model yr. Probably wait until the 3rd as long as my current truck holds up and gas doesnt hit to high.

Let's see by 07 I will have two more years till I retire, that gives me just enough time to save up and get one as I retire and not needing a new truck for a long time. Now to figure out when to start saving. Like so many, the house is pulling all my funds, this year it was replacement windows. Last year it was a new garage. What's next????? Can't wait to see the new truck though. :D

New GM truck comin' out soon is good. I'm a poor college student, so GMT-900s out mean I'm about ready to get me an 800 hah.

Actually I got an 05 Malibu for a rental car this year. Not the kind of car I would buy, but I have to admit it was a very nice car for the price. The ecotec had more torque then you would think and the steering has a great feel (not to heavy like most GM stuff). To bad no one is test driving this car. Plus it's a very plain Jane kind of car, most people who are not car people and just want a car to go A to B are going to look at a Civic and never think about the Malibu.

Sum for those not wanting to clik:

GM will begin production of the new pickups in Oct 06 - moved up from 1st QTR of 07.  The trucks will now be labeled as 2007's (not 2008's).   Good news all around, I think.

Actually they were suppose to start building them in the middle of '06 at first,Us dealers never heard 1st qtr. of '07.They were going to be '07's all along, not '08's.

Now the HD's are suppose to start production the 1st qtr. of '07,But that could change and they could move production up on them also.

My dad is a Die maker at GM. He is workin 10-12 hour days 6 days a week to get the finishing touches on the hood die and some other body panels. They even have been asking him to work Sundays for awhile now. He says fall of '06 is what they are shooting for. That's if everything goes right with the dies because often times they have to re tool the original build to fix flaws. I don't think the drivetrain will be a time issue not much is changing from what i understand.

Thats what us dealers are being told,A fall of '06 release for the light-dutys and early '07 for the HD's.

I'm glad your dads working good,The GM steel stamping plant here in Pittsburgh is scheduled to close in the near future taking 600 jobs away.

    • Thanks; I looked there a few minutes, and I think I can find something. I really never looked there, as I thought it was stuff like PTO/aftermarket bodies/accessories like snow plows.
    • This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.
    • 2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.
    • Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
