  1. Guess What GM Vehicle Has the Best Lease Deal In The U.S.?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/17/2016
According to Kelly Blue Book (KBB), the 2016 Buick Enclave is the single best lease deal in America for February. KBB compiles all of the lease deals in the U.S. it can find from manufacturers and other national sources. It then ranks them according to value. The Enclave is of course not the single cheapest lease (the Corolla has a $149 lease for example). Rather, it is the best bargain.

Ram Trucks and Cabela's have team up in a new partnership that has made Ram Trucks the official truck of Cabela’s. The two companies will work together on special events, give-aways and other types of co-marketing projects. Commenting on the new pairing, Bob Hegbloom, Head of Ram Trucks – FCA North America, said, “More than 80 percent of Ram owners list hunting, fishing or camping among their most cherished hobbies. Ram truck owners tell us they’re passionate about hunting and the outdoors, and our Ram team is no less enthusiastic. As the official truck of Cabela’s, Ram is able to reinforce its support of this industry, and this partnership provides the opportunity to be involved with the outdoor enthusiasts that make up Cabela’s customer base.” Look for information on the new partnership at Cabela's stores or website in the coming days.

  3. 2017 Ram Power Wagon Beauty Shots and Overview 1 2

    Teaser Paragraph:

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/12/2016
Ram launched the 2017 Power Wagon at the Chicago Auto show this week. The 410 hp 6.4-liter Hemi gasoline V8 is just one aspect of the truck that makes it tough. Ram clearly thinks this truck is the most off-road capable truck in the market. Toyota's TRD Pro may be more capable, but it is not a full-size truck. The Ram sure is. Here are some images and the spec rundown on the truck the Ram says, "... is an off-road, all-access pass, removing the limitations, instilling confidence and allowing owners to reach areas of recreation and lifestyle not attainable with any other pickup. The 2017 Ram Power Wagon delivers to those who travel into extreme terrain, while providing the towing and payload capability required in a heavy-duty truck.”

    2/11/2016
Earlier this afternoon Toyota unveiled the 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro. Fans of the Pro-series have been clambering for the Pro to return and were not disappointed. The new truck trim does not have any engine upgrades as standard equipment, but the exhaust and 4WD system is slightly different than the Tacoma TRD Off-Road. The main theme is style enhancements and serious suspension upgrades over an already extremely capable off-road truck.

  5. 2017 Trax Gets Important Updates

    Teaser Paragraph:

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/10/2016
Did you know that the Chevy Trax was the second best-selling small crossover in America last year? Yup, and the Buick Encore, which shares its mechanical bits was the best-selling premium small crossover. The Trax is a very important part of Chevy's entry-level vehicle portfolio and for 2017 Chevy leaves the excellent small turbo engine alone, but gives the Trax a fresh look, a new infotainment setup, and key active safety equipment.

  6. '17 Camaro V6 1LE or V8 1LE - Which Would You Choose? 1 2

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/10/2016
Having had the opportunity to drive the ZL1, Z/28, SS, and 1LE versions of the prior generation of Camaro on the track and on the road, my overall favorite remains the ZL1. However, when price is factored in, the 1LE would be my choice for a track-day Camaro. During one track session, I had the chance to have a Chevy engineer in my passenger seat offering driving tips. His personal vehicle was a 1LE he bought new for less than $34K off a dealer lot. Not everyone got that deal, but they were out there.

Due to their popularity, Chevy is expanding the Midnight Edition treatment. The new 2016 Silverado 1500 Z71 and 2016 Colorado Z71 Midnight Edition will join the 1500 and Silverado 2500 HD Z71. Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet truck marketing director commented on the new additions, saying, “We introduced several special-edition trucks in 2015 – each combining equipment and appearance packages designed for specific enthusiasts in mind. They clearly resonated with buyers, as the special editions sold in one-third the time, and to younger, more affluent buyers than the industry average.

  8. Is the EPA After Your Hot Rod?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/9/2016
SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market Association, has sounded the alarm that the EPA is intending to restrict the modification of vehicle emissions systems for passenger cars converted to racecars. This could have grave implications for drag racing and other motorsports that use sports cars with modified engines. The EPA already feels that it has the right to restrict the conversion of on-road cars to race cars based on the Clean Air Act. Today, SEMA issued a press release warning that the EPA has recently added a comment to a proposal that clarifies that the group has that control.

  9. Great News For GM's Workers

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/5/2016
Those of us that grew up in a union household know that overtime pay, shut-down overtime pay and annual profit sharing bonuses mean a lot to a family. For about 50,000 families in the U.S., GM's huge $6.3 billion in profits last year means that workers that worked their full-time shifts will receive $11,000 in profit sharing. This is the largest profit sharing check the UAW workers will have received in a long time.

  10. New Details Change Colorado / Canyon Sales Picture

    2/4/2016
Earlier this week General Motors reported its sales numbers and put such a positive spin on the Colorado and Canyon sales we were faked out. We saw through the hype and reported the decline in sales of the Colorado and the Canyon's very slight increase accurately, but there is more to the story.

  11. Toyota Gives Up On Scion - Thoughts?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/3/2016
On lieu of any big GM truck news today, I thought I would write an unconventional eulogy for Scion from the "first person perspective." Toyota pulled the plug on Scion very secretly last night. Although I wrote a story predicting this at an outlet I covered news about Scion for (that ruffled some feathers), even Toyota's PR network didn't know until they woke up this morning that the company was giving up on Scion as an individual brand. Even pretty mundane stuff is usually shared with the PR network in advance, and we writers often get "embargoed" stories shortly ahead of the news release so stories can be prepared for morning publication. Not this time.

  12. Colorado Sales Down in First Month of Duramax Diesel Sales

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/2/2016
In the first month of sales since the new Duramax diesel Chevy Colorados were available GM sold less Colorados. And not by a little. Sales were down 7.3% for the month. Notably, at 5,508 units, it seems as if Chevy sold much less than its total production output capability. Prior months had reached almost 8,000 units (December was 7,900) The Canyon was essentially flat with January sales of 2,270 versus 2,205 in 2015. The Canyon had sold as many as 3,000 units in prior months.

  13. Chevy Sales Down In January: GM Proudly Boasts "Increase"

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/2/2016
Chevy's sales in January 2016 were down 3.6% compared to January 2015. Yet, GM's sales communications headline is "Chevrolet Continues as the Industry’s Fastest Growing Brand, Leading GM Retail Sales Increase." Apparently sales new can never be bad at GM. GM's overall sales for the month were up 0.5%.

  14. Costco GM Sales Event Has Interesting Twist

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/1/2016
Back in October GM-Trucks.com alerted our readers to a special GM sales event from Costco. The big-box store provides deep discounts to customers that order their GM truck or car from them. Our contact at Costco let us know today that the sales promotion was a big success. 58,000 new GM owners took part in the program and received a great deal on a Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac. The program connected 34% more buyers with GM vehicles this year compared to last. However, it was the cool customer conquest chart Costco provided we found most interesting.

  16. Forward crash prevention with auto braking works - Proof

Systems that can see a forward crash coming and automatically apply the brakes for a driver work. I know this first hand. Last year I was on the highway when a flock of turkeys ran across all the lanes in front of me and drivers ahead of me stopped. The Auto-braking kicked in before I could react, and likely saved me from rear ending a pickup truck in a tiny Acura at high speed.

General Motors and Chevrolet are auctioning off the very first COPO Camaro drag car at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, AZ auction Friday January 29th. Serial number 2016COPO001 will be sold to the highest bidder and all proceeds will go to The United Way. Originally a fleet ordering system, Chevy dealers adopted the system to configure special, unique, performance cars back in the day.

  19. Important GM Ignition Switch Trial Tossed- Guess Who Lied

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/22/2016
General Motors is involved in trials all over the country related to the faulty ignitions switch issue. These are on top off the settlements GM has made. To try to bring some closure, the courts are looking for bellwether cases that can be used as a guide for settlements between GM and the many plaintiffs. One early case brought by attorneys for Robert Scheuer of Oklahoma, was tossed out on its first day of proceedings today. This after GM's lawyers presented some evidence the judge determined that Mr. Scheur and his wife had lied about the case.

  20. GM's Maven Purchase Part of Trend To Diversify, Create Market

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/21/2016
General Motors is either the most savvy mobility shopper, or maybe the worst. We reported earlier this month that GM had bought into Lyft, which is basically Uber, but less popular. This week, GM is rolling a wheelbarrow of Benjamins toward Maven, which is basically Zipcar, but less popular. GM also bought Sidecar recently which had closed for business after getting its butt-kicked by Uber. Is GM seeing that the market will be large enough for multiple players in the segments that these companies serve or is the company burning up cash to avoid using its tax exemptions?

  21. Buick Adds All-new 2017 Envision Crossover (from China)

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/20/2016
Cars have jumped the shark, and no automaker could be more happy about that than General Motors. GM's car sales have been slowing while its truck, SUV and crossover sales have been going straight up. To date, GM's crossovers, in general, have been true to the old GM formula - sold by weight. GM's offerings in every class are bigger and heavier than the competition. For example, the biggest sales category now is compact crossovers the size of the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. Yet, Chevy enters this mix with the Equinox, which is larger and heavier by far, and which does not come close to matching the fuel economy of these two segment leaders. In the premium compact segment, the leaders are the Audi Q5 and Lexus NX 200t. General Motors has had nothing to sell against these high-volume premium vehicles. Until now. Welcome, the 2017 Buick Envision.

  22. Will Chevy Traverse and Buick Enclave Stay Big in 2017?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/20/2016
The recently revealed 2017 GMC Acadia gets smaller, lighter and more fuel efficient for 2017. With such close model alignment between GMC, Buick, and Chevy one would assume that the 2017 models of the Traverse and Enclave would follow suit. However, Automotive News (AN), a publication we hold in very high regard, is reporting that it thinks otherwise. This is based partly on a short comment by GM's Mark Reuss (who our own Zane Merva interviewed recently and who was kind enough to spend some time with this writer chatting off the record). In the context of whether the Chevy and Buick large crossovers would follow this smaller design of the GMC, Reuss is quoted as saying “The brand separation in size and mission and the positioning of these vehicles has never been more differentiated.” This makes Automotive News think GM will not keep the three amigos aligned. AN further speculates that GM will create a new crossover to slot in between the Equinox/Enclave. The problem with that logic is that Buick has just launched the new Envision, which is smaller than the Equinox by a little bit.

  23. Chevy's Realtree Silverado Is Now a Real 2016 Truck 1 2

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com

The concept Realtree Silverado is a go for production. The 2016 Silverado Realtree Edition. The result of a decades long relationship between General Motors and Realtree, the makers of camouflage, the truck starts as a Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 crew cab model with the Z71 off-road package featuring Rancho monotube shocks, Hill Decent Control, an underbody shield and the G80 auto locking rear differential.. Cammo graphics from Realtree and a Realtree logo on the headrests are the main additions, but Chevy is also adding special blackout trim, black bow ties, off-road assist steps and black 20” wheels with all-terrain tires.

  24. GM and Honda Partnering On What?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/19/2016
Fuel cells. Yes, GM and Honda are going to work together building fuel cells that will power electric cars according to Bidnessetc.com and a Japanese publication. Fuel cells are used in fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs). Like EVs' they are considered zero-emission vehicles. The emissions are hidden away at the place where the hydrogen is separated from whatever else it was part of, methane or water. FCEVs use a battery just like an EV, but the battery is charged on-board from hydrogen that is stored in special tanks (image of Toyota's Mirai tanks below).

  25. Chevy Tying To Move 2015 Silverados With Big Discounts 1 2

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/18/2016
We have reported on heavy discounts before on Silverado and other model trucks. Apparently GM is trying hard to get rid of the remaining 2015 Silverados and is offering up to $7,250 off the price of a 1500 Crew Cab All-Star 4WD. That is before you begin to negotiate. And without your trade. The discount is no secret. You can view it at the Silverado site.
