  1. 2017 Camaro ZL1 Convertible - Best Modern Camaro?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    3/24/2016
Can the 2017 Camaro ZL1 Convertible be topped? Not from this fan's viewpoint. Just prior to our media group and our favorite test track deciding that 600 hp convertibles with journalists inside driving top-down without helmets might be a bad thing, my companion and I had the pleasure of wringing out the last-gen ZL1 in exactly that fashion. Any track day in any car is amazing, but top down, wind in your hair flooring one of the most powerful convertibles ever built? That is pretty much as good as it gets.

  3. 2017 Buick Encore Gets New Look and New Tech

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    3/22/2016
The Buick Encore is the brand's best-selling vehicle. A brand that made its name selling large premium cars is now in the business of selling crossovers with the company's two crossovers accounting for 60% of sales in the U.S. It seems like just yesterday that the 2013 Encore was launched almost as an apology by Buick. However, buyers love the small crossover and GM has tried hard to replicate the vehicle's popularity at Chevy. When the all-new Envision arrives Buick could become a primarily crossover company and interestingly, the majority of those vehicles will not be made in the USA. To keep the Encore fresh, GM is restyling the outside, adding a more-premium interior, and updating the infotainment.

  4. GMC's Latest Award Ranks It Next To Mercedes-Benz

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham

    3/22/2016
Kelly Blue Book's latest press release push has it ranking the U.S. brands in various categories. The two overall winners are Subaru and Lexus, but General Motors' brands picked up two very interesting wins. First, the GMC line was paired with Mercedes-Benz for most refined brands. Had I not tested three GMC vehicles in the past year I would not have understood this win. However, like the testers at KBB, what becomes obvious to those that give a GMC Denali product a try is that GM can match the best in the world when it chooses to.

  5. GMC Terrain Nightfall - Compact Crossover With Attitude

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    3/21/2016
GMC leaked the above image and details of its new 2017 Terrain Nightfall Edition ahead of the New York Auto Show today. The blacked-out theme of the Nightfall is a popular one with GM Truck lovers. Most compact crossovers on the market are kept pretty plain and simple. Base model nobody buys, mid-trim level most do, and a high-end trim that is overly expensive with a rough-ride on super-low profile wheels. No automaker currently offers a special edition compact crossover with any personality of its own. Until now.

Let's be a little bit selfish for a moment. Imagine that you and your family are stopped a red light on a 45 MPH road in your new Chevy Colorado. You are chatting with your spouse while your 8-year old is on her i-Phone, and your newborn is in his rear-facing child seat. Only he notices the Ford F-150 that does not seem to be slowing down behind you. Being just a rugrat, he does not understand the implications, but his eyes get that wide look little ones do when they see something they know is new and scary. You decide which scenario you prefer this story to have as an ending:

  10. Colorado Shoreline May Be GM's Smartest Truck Trim In Years

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    3/15/2016
When General Motors introduced the all-new Chevy Colorado, an interesting trend was quickly noticed by GM bean counters. Although the Colorado, like pretty much every truck from every manufacturer, was always shown in rural areas in advertisements, the Colorado's largest sales market - by far, was not a rural area. It was Los Angeles California. Back in early 2015, GM’s Tony Johnson, marketing manager for the Colorado, explained it, saying, “L.A. was a big target for the Colorado, where people can use the utility of a pickup, but don’t necessarily have the space for a full-sized truck. The in-roads we’ve made there are proof that it is the right fit for that market.” Currently, the city of LA is not just the largest mid-size pickup market in the U.S., it is as large as the next two biggest markets combined.

  11. Want To Go Driverless? GM Buys Automation Company

General Motors is taking steps to ensure it is not left out of the coming driverless car and truck world. This week, GM has paid a cool $billion for Cruise Automation. Cruise Automation is a software and rapid development company. The new acquisition will work as an independent unit within GM. “Fully autonomous vehicles can bring our customers enormous benefits in terms of greater convenience, lower cost and improved safety for their daily mobility needs,” said GM President Dan Ammann.

  12. New Stop-Sale Recall For Colorado and Canyon

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    3/10/2016
The motor press is reporting that some 2016 model year Colorado and Canyon trucks have a defect in the airbag that must be repaired. Reuters quoted a GM spokesperson who said "Some of these vehicles have a condition in which the second stage of the driver frontal airbag may not deploy properly in certain high-speed crashes. If the vehicle is involved in a high-speed crash that triggers the second stage deployment of the driver frontal air bag, the second stage of the inflator may not fill the air bag as completely and as quickly as designed, which could lead to an increased risk of injury to the driver."

GM vehicles took home the top spot in four of the most important categories.

  15. What is as fast a BMW M4, but $30K less?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    3/3/2016
Quick! What is just as fast a BMW M4, but costs about thirty grand less? Right, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS. Motor Trend has a cool way of performance testing cars head to head. It does the usual instrument testing, 0-60 MPH and quarter mile and all that jazz, but then it takes the cars to the track at Willow Springs and let's their pro driver, Randy Pobst, do some familiarization laps and then do a timed hot lap. You can read the Motor Trend article for yourself, but the upshot is that the Camaro 2SS is its match.

  17. Silverado/Sierra Recall From the "Give me a break" File

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/29/2016
General Motors is recalling a tiny handful of Silverado and Sierra models. Apparently, the radio does not work and thus, a crash may happen. Here's how NHTSA puts it:
"The radio may intermittently fail to provide an audio warning when the key has been left in the ignition and the door is opened or when the driver does not fasten their seat belt. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection", and/or 208, "Occupant Crash Protection." Less than 112 trucks are covered by this recall.

Here at GM-Trucks.com we want to provide you with news of interest on General Motors and specifically trucks. We'd like to know if you care that a stock ratings company downgraded GM from "Buy" to "Hold." The reason it did so was the company thinks the international auto market is about to start a plateau or decline and that this will change the value of GM stocks.

  19. GM To Offer Hybrid Trucks Again - Do You Want One? 1 2 3

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/25/2016
Back in 2012 GM dropped hybrid trucks. The General had given it a go and sales and margins were just not where the GM folks wanted them to be. Those drivetrains were mild hybrids, and these new ones will also be. Today, both GMC and Chevy announced eAssist trucks. The expected 13% gain in MPG City is not a huge jump, but let's be honest, trucks make sense as hybrids in many situations (not all). One situation they might be well suited for are work trucks that make most of their runs at low speeds in cities and towns. I worked out of a pickup every day for four years in exactly that situation, and our company used full-sized, rear-wheel GMC and Chevy drive trucks with 6-cylinder engines. We even towed trailers with that setup and they worked perfectly. For some, this truck could be a money-maker.

GMC also did well, finishing 5th overall. GM also had the most durable vehicle in the Large SUV category with the GMC Yukon and the top heavy duty truck was the Chevy Silverado HD. Over at Consumer Reports, Buick was ranked seventh overall among the 30 U.S. vehicle brands.

  21. New Colorado and Canyon Recall Covers Power Steering

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/22/2016
The recall stories seem to becoming way to frequently lately for the GM trucks. Last week it was full size trucks and this week it is the mid-size trucks that have a new recall. The Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon are being recalled because "A poor electrical connection within the steering gear connector may cause a loss of power steering assist." This could cause a crash due to loss of steering control when the power cuts out leaving drivers with steering that is not boosted. Back in January we reported on a recall for the 2016 Canyon and Colorado related to the interior console.

  23. Is the Chevy Colorado ZR2 In Testing?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    2/19/2016
Pictures of a truck looking pretty much exactly like the ZR2 concept truck shown here are being widely circulated today. The truck has the front end and hood of the ZR2 concept that Chevy showed off a year ago and that we reported on in March 2015 and November 2014 when it was first shown at the LA Auto Show. If Chevy is going to produce a ZR2 it sure is taking its time.

  24. Buy a New Chevy - Get To Try Out the Track At Daytona

    2/18/2016
The best part of being an auto writer is not the eight-figure income or the hordes of beautiful women that throw themselves at you daily. Nope. It is the chance to get on racetracks once in a while in Chevys. Now anyone that buys a Chevy can have that experience. We are not going to kid you, we are a little skeptical about this whole announcement by Chevy having seen some relatively experienced journalists hit walls and spin into the run off areas at track days, but here is what Chevy says you will get (for an added cost of course):

GMC recently took the wraps off the completely new, 700-lbs lighter, and more fuel efficient midsize Acadia. Now we can add "cheaper" to the list as well. The brand announced today that when it goes on sale next spring, the Acadia will cost nearly two-thousand dollars less than the 2016 model.
