  1. Considering a used GM vehicle? GM can help you directly now

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/16/2016
As a writer who earns a substantial part of his income writing for websites that sell pre-owned vehicles, I can assure you that shoppers looking for used and certified, pre-owned vehicles use the internet extensively in their search. General Motors is in a unique position to capitalize on this, and it has just made a move to do so.

  2. Why was this Cadillac ELR so lonely at the Boston Car Show?

    Teaser Paragraph:

Despite having one of the best looks of any GM product, the newish Cadillac ELR was never in danger of being over-run by journalists at this week's Boston Auto Show Press Day. Sadly, neither was the all-new Volt, which by the way looks exactly like a Chevy Cruze. The ELR has a great spot in the Cadillac area too, very close to the Lexus display.

During the 2016 North American International Auto Show (which we all still call the Detroit Auto Show), GMC's GMC Duncan Aldred was given the actual Pickup Truck of the Year Award by editors from Truck Trend. The award is a piston mounted on a golden gear.

  4. Nissan tips hat to Chevy, Ford, Dodge in new 90-second spot 1 2

    Teaser Paragraph:

Nissan is going full force promoting the all new Titan pickup. Yesterday the company released a 90-second video spot on YouTube that lets the world know it respects the pickup brands that have come before. In a weird way, it's almost as if Nissan is acknowledging the previous generation Titan was a sub-par effort and is pretending it never existed.

  5. GMC’s All-New 2017 Acadia Goes Smaller, Lighter, Better

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/12/2016
GMC has announced an all-new 2017 Acadia that is about seven inches shorter in length, three inches narrower, and four inches lower in height. The new Acadia is an amazing 700 pounds lighter than the outgoing model. Downsizing a vehicle at GM is an extremely rare occurrence. GM is also introducing a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and revised, more efficient and more powerful 3.6-liter V6 for the Acadia. The goal here is obviously to make the Acadia more fuel efficient. However, the vehicle also has new safety technology and a new All-Terrain option, meaning this is a crossover that will continue to be a serious contender in its segment.

  6. Buick Avista or Lexus LC 500 - Your Choice?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/11/2016
The two coolest cars form the Detroit Auto Show may well be the Buick Avista Concept and the 2017 Lexus LC 500. If the Avista becomes a production car, it will go head to head with the new Lexus luxury performance coupe. We'd like to know which would be your choice and why.

  7. Use GM's WiFi? Will You Tell Us What You Pay?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/11/2016
General Motors recently created a very detailed press release highlighting its dominance regarding on-board Wifi. The one thing GM leaves out of its promotional posts about its 4GLTE connectivity is what its vehicle owners pay for it. If you have it, and if you use it, would you be willing to share what you have been paying and give us a short note on how you use it? For example, do you use it yourself to connect to the internet and do searches or to use maps? Or, do your kids use it for entertainment like Youtube and games? If you have it, but opt not to use it that would also be of interest.

  8. Close, but No Cigar For Colorado Duramax as 4X4 of the Year

    Teaser Paragraph:

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/11/2016
Petersen's 4x4 and Off-Roader of the year is the 2016 Toyota Tacoma. In 33 years of conducting this testing and granting the award, a Toyota product has only won Petersen's four times. Last year the Toyota 4Runner won. However, we looked at Petersen's excellent overview of the voting process and realized that this one came as close to a tie as practical.

  9. Chevy's 2017 Cruze Hatch Opens Up Possibilities

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/8/2016
Americans are not huge fans of hatch-back sedans. However, pretty much every one on the big blue marble is. So it is no surprise that Chevy just dropped a new 2017 Cruze hatch-back sedan. The Cruze is Chevy's most successful car in the total world marketplace and the Cruze is Chevy's second leading seller to 25 and younger buyers in the U.S. The hatch will help keep that true.

  10. Chevy Beats Tesla To the Punch With Affordable 200 Mile EV

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/6/2016
At today's Consumer Electronics show, Mary Barra, GM's CEO, and now also Chairman, announced “The Bolt EV is capable of using the latest mobile app technology to enable car sharing, advanced GPS routing and gamification, all designed to enhance the ownership experience now and into the future.” Nobody cares a hoot about any of that though. What is important is that Chevy has a viable product that it says is ready to go as of the end of this year and can offer buyers 200 miles of EV range in a price range that most American families can afford. Tesla, who has been crowing about an affordable battery electric vehicle insufferably, does not have a new car to show off this year.

  11. New GM Truck/SUV Recalls Coincide With Union Votes, Holidays

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/6/2016
General Motors is recalling 2,633 Acadia, Traverse, Enclave 2016 models all made at the Lansing Michigan plant. The affected vehicles could have a defective weld in the third-row seat assembly that is a safety concern according to NHTSA. The welds were applied during November from the 6th to the 12th of the month. A few days before that the Union that represents the line workers held a vote on the new contract. It narrowly passed. 43% of the workers at the plant voted against it. The period also coincided with a holiday (Veterans Day) and a weekend. This is almost certainly a coincidence. Recalls happen so often now, and often to so few vehicles it is hard to know what we should highlight.

  12. Why Did the Tacoma Outsell the Colorado and Canyon in 2015?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/5/2016
The numbers are in, and the Toyota Tacoma (179,561) outsold the Colorado (84,430) and Canyon (30,077) combined this year. In fact, even if you throw in the Nissan Frontier (30,076) the Tacoma still outsold the combined field of its rivals for 2015. The reason this is so is not because the 2016 Toyota Tacoma is better than the Colorado or Canyon. That is a matter of taste. We're sure it wasn't the 2016 model because even if we subtract out all the 2016 trucks the Tacoma was still the leader with its old 2015 model sales. No, the main reason the Tacoma won the sales race is that Toyota bet more boldly on the growth of mid-size trucks and built more capacity than did GM.

  13. GM Invests $ Half Billion In Vehicles You Won't Drive

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/4/2016
General Motors announced a huge investment in Lyft today. Lyft is basically a service like Uber. However, Lyft has already started to plan for an autonomous vehicle to come get you rather than a person in their own vehicle. That is where GM's technology comes in. GM is getting a chunk of Lyft and a seat on its board of directors and Lyft gets 2,000 large gym bags stuffed with Benjamins. In addition, GM will be the rental car of choice for those who work at Lyft using a rental car. Apparently, drivers who work at these ride-share services now rent a car in some cases instead of using their own.

  14. Duramax Diesel Colorados and Canyons On the Way!

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    1/4/2016
OK, stop us if you've heard this one before - GM says the Duramax Diesel Canyon and Colorado trucks are on their way to dealerships. GM-Trucks.com has been following the saga since October. That month, we were told in an e-mail from GM that the trucks were all set and headed out for sale. Then they were delayed as we now know. We were told a couple more times that the trucks were ready, but as of December, no trucks had appeared in the wild. We noticed, as did many other outlets.

  15. '16 Colorado and Canyon Recalled For Console Issue

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    12/29/2015
General Motors is recalling about 9,000 2016 Chevy Colorados and GMC Canyons. The problem is that the center armrest console latch may not stay secured in a crash. During the crash the handgun, bowling ball, and pet rock you have inside your console may exit and fly about the cabin causing you or others harm. At least that is the scenario that NHTSA imagines could happen.

  16. Trax Midnight Edition Gets The Black-Out Treatment

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    12/28/2015
The Chevy Trax is mechanically similar to the Buick Encore that became part of the GM-Trucks.com extended family this past year. These subcompact crossovers are all the rage and many manufacturers are still rolling out their first efforts (Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3 etc.) Betsy Flegg, senior marketing manager, Chevrolet Crossovers explained, saying, “The small SUV segment is the fastest growing in the industry and models such as the new Trax Midnight Edition provides customers an expressive option.” GM is way ahead in this new popular segment with robust sales. Fans of the GM truck line know the drill by now, but let's run down what makes this little truck-et special.

  17. 2016 GMC SIerra Denali 1500 Named Pickup Truck of The Year

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    12/22/2015
The good people at Truck Trend just announced that the 2016 Sierra Denali is their choice as Truck of the Year. Truck Trend chose the Sierra Denali over the Tacoma TRD and other new offerings. Although the group liked the infotainment system, it was the drivetrain that put the Sierra over the top. Truck Trend said "Turning the key and hearing the small-block V-8 rumble to life was a near-religious experience that caused every driver to sit up straighter and pay more attention, lest we miss one measure of that engine’s baritone exhaust note. The engine made the Sierra Denali one of the fastest vehicles Truck Trend has ever tested, with a blazing 15-second quarter-mile time at the truck’s top speed of 98 mph. Even with all that power, the Sierra got a respectable 19 mpg on its best tank."

  18. Hold the Presses - New Top Crate Engine From Chevy

    Teaser Paragraph:

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    12/21/2015
As if there are presses anymore! Anyway, the story we did just two months ago about Chevy's top crate engine, is now obsolete. The ZZ6 will take a back-seat to the Corvette's 650 hp LT4, which you can now buy to power your sleigh.

  19. GM to merge myChevrolet and OnStar RemoteLink

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    12/18/2015
Do you use one of GM's Apps to connect with your truck? If so, you should know that at the upcoming 2016 Consumer Electronics Show GM will announce a new App that will merge myChevrolet and OnStar RemoteLink. The idea is that the new app will be more customizable by users. GM says the new system will offer "mobile access to roadside assistance, parking reminders, owner’s manual content, vehicle diagnostics, Wi-Fi® hotspot management and key fob commands such as remote start and door unlock." Paul Edwards, vice president, Chevrolet marketing expanded on that, saying, “The myChevrolet app will be the most comprehensive vehicle app available – and will support the ownership experience over the life of the vehicle. By integrating OnStar RemoteLink features into the myChevrolet app, we’re creating a one-stop-app for owners to manage their vehicle with one user profile and unified log-in.”

  20. Duramax Colorado & Canyon- On Sale Or Not?

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    12/17/2015
Has any reader of this post actually taken delivery of a Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon with a Duramax 2.8-liter diesel engine? The reason we ask is that according to one of our respected peers on the internet there are no diesels for sale yet. Meaning a truck a customer can take home. This is not what GM led us to believe. Rather than ask the company for a third time when the trucks will reside in buyers' driveways we thought we'd check in with you, the biggest fans of all.

  21. Google: Chevy Malibu and Silverado Top Searches 2015

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham

    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    12/17/2015
OK Ted II fans, we all know what the number one most searched term really was. That out of the away, Chevrolet is proud to announce that the Chevy Malibu and Silverado topped the vehicle searches for 2015. This is no surprise for the folks in our industry. We know what people want to read, and we try to deliver on those topics. Suffice it to say that a story about a new Silverado color will do waaay better than a story about an EV getting two more miles of range.

  22. GM Trucks Just Closed the Resale Value Gap - The Numbers

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    12/16/2015
The Toyota Tacoma is still the top-rated vehicle of all in resale value according to KBB. The truck deserves praise for that and it gets it in spades from the auto media. However, look closely at this year's KBB Top Ten vehicles list and what jumps out is that the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon are now within 2% of the Tacoma. The Taco has a three-year retained value of 72.9%. The GMC Canyon is at 70.7% and the Chevy Colorado is rated at 70%. There is more to it than just that.

  23. GM Takes 2 Wards' Top 10 Engine Awards - Nope, Not Duramax

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    12/15/2015
General Motors has scored two "Top Ten Engines" awards from WardsAuto. The first is a favorite of this writer, the 3.6-liter V6 found in the all-new Chevrolet Camaro. The 3.6-liter, normally aspirated engine has been around a while, but it has improved like a fine wine. Drew Winter, director, Content at WardsAuto said of the engine, “The 3.6 delivers the kind of power (335 hp) and lusty exhaust note you associate with a V-8 for the price of a V-6. Plus, it’s loaded with advanced technology, including fuel-saving cylinder deactivation.” Personally, I like it because it offers great power, torque and fuel economy and does not have a turbocharger. Even better, the specs you see, and the fuel economy numbers posted by EPA, all use regular unleaded as the fuel.

  24. Report - Ford Testing U.S.-Market Ranger Alongside Colorado

    Teaser Paragraph:

    John Goreham
    Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com
    12/15/2015
Let's all agree to be honest about a few things. First, as we say here in New England "Nothing on the level." That is a quote made popular by Howie Carr, a famous Boston corruption reporter. So when we read that international media were invited to a Ford Australia meeting during which Ford accidentally showed the press a new Ranger testing alongside the Tacoma (a North-American product, Hilux is the international model) and the Colorado, we are not as surprised as we might be. It could be an accident, a misunderstanding, or Ford might have staged it. Who cares, really? A new Ranger would be cool. I have friends nursing their current Ranger and saying a prayer each night that it will come back to market before theirs dies completely.
