I have been driving a Duramax Diesel for the last 15 years, 1st a 6.6 on a 2500HD and the last 3 years a Colorado with the 2.8L. Outside putting Diesel and DEF fluid, there is no difference from a gasoline truck. I have never worried about regeneration and stopping. The truck does what it does when it needs to. On all these years, I drove a combined 370,000 miles, only repairs so far, injectors (recall under warranty) a fuel pump, a water pump on the silverado and now the Colorado is asking for a DEF pump (under emission warranty). outside this, oil every 10k miles and that is it. Now I am looking at the 1500 with the 3.0, I love my Colorado, but it is getting small on me with the family. Hoping this thread goes back to its original track.2 points

Not the best pic and have since added my tool box. Drove about 200 miles today up to the inlaws through some pretty bad weather and crazy wind. On the 40 miles of interstate at 80 mph was getting 23. Not much wind at that time. Later in trip driving 60-65 was getting 29.1. was getting mid 20s during the bad part of the storm driving around 60. Still only have about 200 miles on it. Will keep you up to date. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk2 points

Quick, inexpensive upgrade for anyone, including ones with the wireless charger already. I’ve loved having my phone sit on the console since 2007, so I’ve done this on consoles since that body. First, open the console lid, use a plastic pry bar to pop off the cover. You’ll need to use a die grinder or some other grinder to take down the ribs in the plastic and make it smooth. I tried 4 chargers and this is the only one that would work thru the layers of plastic and my otter box case. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DBX67NC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I used a 2 part epoxy used in bodywork to hold the charger to the lid. You can use any kind of 2 part epoxy to hold it on. For wiring you have a couple options. One is plug it into the USB port inside the console. The other is, pull up on the rubber cup holder insert, you’ll fix a torx. Remove the torx and pull up on that cup holder trim piece. It will expose another torx that hold the rear panel on. Remove that torx and pull the rear panel off for access to the 12v wiring. I used this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y4PD3N3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I tapped into the 12v plug wiring And plugged the charger into that. All done. Enjoy. Not bad for about $20.1 point

Ordered some new wheels for my new truck. Already have the tires and wheels should arrive by next week. Also ordered the AMP Research Power Steps and they should arrive within the next week or two as well. That being said, anyone interested in the wheels and upgraded sport steps off my truck? Truck has 300 miles on it. Located in Ontario Canada $1600 CDN for wheels $1000 CDN for boards1 point

The JL box, while undoubtedly far superior, is 3 times the cost just for the box. Then you add an amp, and the wiring and your probably at 4 times the cost. In addition to the cost you have to consider the rest of the system. Ince you add 2 12's with decent power what do you do about the highs? Your either going to have to turn the JL way down or start replacing door/dash speakers and adding amps to power them.1 point

What did I do to my K2 today? Bounced it off of a rock... I really need to get a little more ground clearance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I had a 2016 Ram 1500 5.7 Laramie 4wd. Great truck - A bit light (in weight). BUT, . ...the "recalls" were getting to be a "pita". The truck was spent more time at the dealership than on the road. (No joke!) Also - Fiat owns Ram - back in the 70's to 90's Fiat were absolutely pants at building anything good. Ram's ride compared to the 1500 Silverado doesn't even compare, sorry. Anyway I'm now driving a used 2017 Silverado 1500 High Country 2wd 8spd tranny with 24k on it, yes I noticed the occasional transmission jolt's, but they're not all the time. There'll be a fix somewhere for it, I just gotta find it1 point

I think it could. I have not looked at the factory add on camera for the K2 to check out the wiring, but it’s just a coax going from the mirror to the camera. The other wiring to the mirror I could provide a pinout - there’s nothing special there. To the person above - dealerships don’t like doing retrofits. If they put their hands on it, they have to warranty it and be liable. I’ve been doing retro’s since the GMT800’s and also providing them to people. Most of their technicians do not take the time to see what matches what, they only look at their current situation at that time. So they never figure out what’s REALLY possible in between products and brands.1 point

don't bother with the kicker bullshit..JL audio makes a stealth box...custom built for the truck, I would recommend this over all options available..keep in mind you have to run power and ground to an external amp and spend more dead presidents lol1 point

I am in the same boat as you, I actually came from a 2007 Tundra Crewmax 1st year of new generation (work horse). My car is currently at the dealer for the 4th time! My GPS and compass do not work, I have had my antenna replaced, and infotainment 2 times already. GM is currently working on a buy back offer, so lets see where that goes. If I cant make headway then I will most likely get an attorney involved. If I do get money back, I will most likely get a new tundra...those things are hard to break! I tried for years (looking for a reason to get a new truck) without success and finally gave up and just traded it in! Those things are solid as a rock.1 point

i've noticed this on all German cars, the rubber and plastics are all eco-friendly , so after 8 years the cars begin to crumble into dust, haha oh but the machining on the crankshaft is a work of engineering art!1 point

I have found the thread that explains the problem I was wanting to describe. I will wait now to see if GM can really come up with a real fix. Good to know now its coming from the plastic spoiler. No sunroof here1 point

Line-X Premium that covers the body to wheel well seam and plastic attachments. What dirt you see hoses out and looks like new. Very easy to maintain. There are a couple of plugs in the bed above the wheel wells that allow hosing with a wand with out removing the tail lamps. Good place to add oil to the seem for those so inclined.1 point

MSRP: 61k my price: 48k Here is what i did recently to get 20% off of my truck. On the last week of August i stopped by every dealership in my local area (6). For the first 4 dealerships, i told them which truck i wanted and the price i wanted it for. After being denied by all, i left each time and told them thank you, ill need some time to consider. For the 5th dealership, i gave them a call before arriving, and told them, i have stopped by 4 other dealerships, and this is the price I'm looking for. The sales rep obviously told me to come in, and they will do everything they can to get me my price. When i arrived, after negotiating, the best price they gave me was 53k. I told them thank you, i have one more dealership to stop by. As i was leaving he stopped me and said they can do 51k. I then called the final dealership and said, " Look, I've been to every dealership in this area, the dealership I'm at has offered me 51k and i am about to sign the deal, can you guys beat it? He replied, "Yes sir, come down here right now and we will beat there price." I snapped a photo of the price sheet and told the manager i appreciuate the offer but i have to due my due diligence and stop by the last dealership. He said he understands and says his deal is locked untill the end of the day. i arrived at the last dealership and at first they tried to sweet talk me and get me to actually buy the car for 54k. but once i told them I'm not here to play games and showed them the price sheet from the last dealership(51k) they came back and said they could only do 53k while ensuring me that their identical truck was "better" then the last dealerships(lol). I got up out of my seat and started walking to the door, the manager comes out and says, "sir congratulations, you have a deal. 50k" I then texted the other sales rep at the last dealership and let him know this dealership js offered 50k. he replied back in 2 min and says "we'll do 49k". I showed the text to the sales rep and he went back to his manager for 5 min, this time the manager came out to talk to me and you could tell he was irritated. He said "Sir, you are getting a good deal, this truck is better then their truck, you need to stop trying to negotiate and take the offer." I replied, no thank you, I'm going to get the truck for the best price. He then walked back into his office and sent his sales rep back out 5 min later and gave me what i wanted at 48k. First time I've done it this way and ill have to say it was the best car buying experience I've ever had.1 point

You know you have your truck pretty much how you like it when all that’s left is silly little things to improve like adding these XPEL door sill guards. ? Comes in a roll, I cut it at 16” for the front doors, rounded off the corners, and stuck it on in a manner that covers the two edges of the door sill that were taking some small shoe scratches and scuffs.1 point

I would think that if it works on one of your 3 trailers it's probably not the truck. I would double check all the connections and lights on the affected trailers just to make sure everything is good there. I would second guess most of the info I get from the tech's, they have led me astray before, just saying. Maybe you could hook one of your other trailers up to a friend's truck to see if the lights work, just a few suggestions.1 point

All this change and refreshing comes at a price. Trucks are already pricey enough. If the 2020 or 2021 GM truck receive a RAM like interior..... you might as well prepare for a second mortgage. Because this will likely boost the price up over 70K. Escalades have exceeded 100K. 2020 Tahoe, Yukon and Suburban will likely be in the 80's When is enough enough?1 point

It’s Sunday so yesterday still counts. Baby has new shoes. BFG KO2’s. Run them on my Jeep and swear by them. So far she’s de-badged and tinted. Next up is either a level or 2” lift. Haven’t decided yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Fuss comment wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, just at the overall def gauge 'chatter', here and every other forum discussing GM diesels. GM doesn't say use GM only. Certainly not in print in the owners manuals.. They say "can " be purchased at a dealer and then go on to suggest other locations. The manuals also say: "Use only DEF that is GM approved, or fluid containing the API certified or ISO 22241 label. The use of other fluids could damage the system, requiring costly repairs that will not be covered by the vehicle warranty." Pretty much like every other fluid. Use our brand or any other that meets the spec. I've never yet seen or heard of any DEF that is not ISO 22241 certified. If anyone is aware of any, please post the info.1 point
