It's in my driveway that means it's mine right? So meet my first car! I have awesome friends. Why tow the car 45 minutes away when it's only a couple miles from my house, we'll just rebuild it there. Probably also doesn't help he already has 4 cars at his parent house and another 2 vehicles at his old roommates place. I'm thinking there's no way this thing is only going to be sitting here for a couple months.

Got my new 43 on Saturday, got my alien gear holster and two pearce grip extensions in today. Loaded with Hornady self defense for EDC

Drove to lunch and passed a stopped Ford Escape, normally front wheels look like (I I), but this one kind of looked out of norm...(I /)...I could see the CV axle shaft hanging in two pieces as I drove by. Fortunately it didn't look like anyone was hurt, speed limit is 25mph and it was on a curve so probably was only going about 10mph when it happened. I'd assume a tie rod must have busted and not caused by a rear ending as there was no apparent damage to the front of the vehicle. Occupants looked a little "tense" but the cops were already on the scene so I continued on.

PlayStation Vue is a load of crap. They lock the service to the IP address you sign up on. Since most cable providers give residential service dynamic IPs, after a week, a month or maybe a night you lose power, your service is inaccessible.

 

 

I just experienced it, for some reason Vue read a different location at ONE sign on, and I'm locked out now, it thinks I moved 75 miles within a matter of minutes. I went through two reps, both said the same thing " there is no way to unlock an account, we have to cancel your service "

Would a 265/65/17 be a good alternative to a 265/70/17? Negligible differences in size, appearance, steering feel, etc? I know that the sidewall would be shorter but the .5 doesn't seem like much on paper.

 

I'm looking at the Defender LTX MS and the larger of the two is out of stock for who knows how long and is close to $10 more expensive per tire.

Dont do it. An inch shorter total. It will stick out to you when you look at it and the speedometer will be off

I guess I'd never be able to use that, with my VPN I'm all over the US or the world depending on what I'm trying to get around or hide. What is odd though is one of their servers is in Tampa but sites say my location is in GA.

I tried I, I liked it except for the hamstrung DVR features. Vue was a great fit, had almost every cable channel I wanted, expect for the fact it was poorly implemented (the menus are trasdh, and the IP issue)

Actually, I just ordered cable again after 5-6 years. Only $34 more a month for first year, $49 second year, using my own TiVos. The guy told me after the first year I can just keep renewing at a lower price. I always thought I had to wait after the agreement was up.

 

And Vue will surely go back up. It wasn't getting much fanfare sobthey dropped the price a lot. But, Sony is REALLY slow to fix software problems, so the menus will probably never get better, and the dynamic IP issue probably won't get fixed until it's too late.

 

I still can't get over the fact that the "license" protection they implement basically restricts the service to businesses. Sony makes a lot of bad business decisions, but seriously!

This happened to my buddy's truck. Needed his tires rebalanced so went to a shop that we all use and recommend (owned by our other buddy's family, they are soon to be my family through marriage). Guy forgot to tighten the lug nuts. My buddy said he heard a metallic clinging sound, thought the guy forgot a tool under the truck, then he heard it again and realized it was the lug nuts flinging off. Luckily he was only going about 25 and no one got injured. Made it about a quarter mile from the shop. Shop is paying for the damage, tow bill and car rental.

 

 

 

 

Now whenever I have a shop work on my vehicle (which is almost never, besides balancing and installing tires for the most part) I'm gonna be checking my lug nuts.

A similar thing happened to a friend of mine, he was going a bit faster, though, so no real damage occurred. The wheel just flew off. Fortunately it happened on a dirt road rather than the highway he just left. We've had duals come loose before as well, but caught it in time. The guys like to trust their torque tip on the impact. Good for them. I'll stick to an actual torque wrench.

HO ... LEEE ... CRAPPER!! A product of the flat-rate system, unfortunately. Hurry, hurry, hurry, just to make a buck. Here's a classic example of the end result of that ...

 

I used to rely on my impact gun - straight, no torque stix. Never had a problem ... but one time my impact failed to tighten a harmonic balancer nut on my buddy's Volvo 940. Though the engine grenaded! Luckily it jumped time as he pulled into the carport - perfect timing .. no pun intended, lol. Was due to a worn out 1/2" impact swivel / u-joint. After that I decided to use a torque wrench to check lugs I had just tightened - was alot looser than I expected! Ever since then I run them on with the gun, then torque them down afterward. Good habit to get into, for sure!

 

Look at the tin can sheet metal - totally wiped it out!!

I have had tire shops tell me retorque in 10 miles and check again in 100.
