In winter, we have to drive over 10 miles to have those same conditions, under the hood at least. Won't be anywhere near 75° though - we'll be 40° under that for 5 months straight. :nonod:

Got up to a whopping 52° out there today. Haven't seen the sun in 3 days. Feels like winter already .. although in 2 months we'll be begging for a 40° day ... never mind 50°!

I usually have 2 chilly months and my oil changes are usually done in October and April while I still have some decent temps. If for some reason I have to do maintenance in December or January I will heat the garage

When I was in Livermore I remember having a couple 30° mornings.

For some reason, 30° out there felt 10x colder than 30° out here. Probably the lack of humidity.

When I had to shoot for my concealed carry class it was 24 degrees. I was not happy about that.

That's no fun! At least it warms up there during the day.

Last February I woke up to boiler problems - was -14°F outside ... with wind! Wind chill was -30° or so. Had to jump out of my warm bed and deal with that. Vacuum cleaner was full to the brim - had to take it outside in that and blow the damn thing out so I could vacuum out the crust that had formed in the boiler, from wet coal fines in some of the bags. It hardened to concrete, and blocked the coal from feeding. Talk about a sucky time! That's the coldest I've seen up here, or anywhere, since I've been alive.

By the time I got the boiler running again, the house had dropped to 61° and didn't recover for 3 days. The high for that day was 8°. Fun fun!

In 3-4 months we'll be doing it again up here ...

The waiting room at the dealer is always at a pleasant temperature. haha

I change every month sometimes twice a month.

The reason I asked is because I almost changed it one morning but didn't want to run the engine just for the sake of getting it warm.

And intervals obviously depend on other totally different things. I'm almost at 4k miles since march...

I go OLM or 6 months, whichever is first. I just changed it this morning. I like letting it sit so oil drains back to the pan. I let it sit for about an hour and a half before I changed it. Exhaust was cool to the touch but the oil was over 100 degrees

That's usually how I do it, only it sits about a half hour. As long as it hasn't sat overnight, IMO, it gets all the crap out of the pan and mixed in the oil.

I just picked my last power-plant pear of the season. Looks like it grew in the heavy water next to the nuke plant ... :D

I like to do mine as quick as I can get under the pickup. I try to keep it consistent for oil analysis. On my 1990, I'd park it and let it cool off. The filter was a real pain to get to.

I've been thinking for a while and I may trade up to a 2500HD, gasser of course. Current truck tows what I need it to no problem, but for as often as I tow and the weight I sometimes load in the truck bed a 2500HD would make me feel a lot better. Diesel would just be a cool factor, don't need the added cost and maintenence that associates itself with diesels. Have found a few ones I like locally, mainly used but that doesn't mean anything to me. Of course if I went with a gasser HD it would be a GM truck since I've driven a F250 with a 6.2 and that thing was a slug and I've watched the video reviews on YouTube saying the Hemi 5.7 and 6.4 aren't that great

Whelp - state just failed my dad's truck due to the DPF delete.

If anyone wants a '09 2500 HD that just turned 100k, make an offer via PM. I'll try and get some pics by Monday. 1 owner - my dad is in his mid 70's. It'll be back to stock more than likely.

Dealer called yesterday to tell me they wouldn't pass my Cruze through state inspection because the tint strip was below the as1 line. I said okay, but you guys passed it last year so what gives? They proceed to blame the mechanic. So I said whatever rip it off and put the sticker on. Called the tint guy and he's installing a new strip on Sunday. New strip is $25, inspection somewhere else is $35. I wanted the strip darker anyway so whatever.

NSA Worker arrested for storing classified info at his home(summary, not the "whole story", sounds like he just took work home). Oh the irony.

    • I went through again with a test light and everything checked out.    I suppose it could be the MAF itself but I've tried 3 different sensors, 2 of which were in running vehicles previously (the one in this truck, and the one in the donor truck), as well as a new one I picked up from NAPA. I would just be surprised if all 3 were bad.   EDIT/UPDATE: I swapped in the MAP sensor that was originally with the 2010 PCM, that made the code for map sensor voltage high Go away, and the map sensor seems to read normal with key on engine off (14psi or so), but it still doesn't run and does the same thing as before.
    • In addition to a cell or wifi connection, the infotainment needs to be enabled to download software updates. That's a toggle within the system settings.   But...if the truck was prevented from receiving updates in a past life, missing a bunch of updates may mean it won't go back and download all of those because they're not available or the system is too far out of date.   If a formal recall depends on a software update, the recall for that truck remains in an open status until it's applied. The dealer would need to apply the software update in that instance.   Most updates downloaded and applied via the infotainment aren't recalls/safety recalls, they're enhancements and usability fixes which aren't critical.
    • Recently I've been getting a message, "New Brake Pads Detected. Reset Brake Pad Life?", But I haven't had the pads replaced and the truck only has 28,000 miles. The Brake Pad Life shows Front 64% and Rear 79%. I select NO to resetting the brake pad life and the message goes away but comes back at the nest restart.   I stopped by the dealer and was told that it sounds like a software glitch that would require reprogramming. Even though I have the extended warranty, they tell me that reprogramming is not covered unless a module was actually bad and needed to be replaced. Simply reprogramming is not covered. So, they want $200.00 just to diagnose the problem. If it turns out no bad module, another charge on top of that to do the reprogramming. If the cause was an actual bad module, everything would be covered under the warranty.   Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Should this issue be covered under the warranty?   Thanks
    • NHT is diesel only, correct.     The GVWRs for NHT on 3/4 ton bring them to the same numbers as many of the 2WD 1 tons.  A crew 4x4 standard 3/4 with NHT is 11,750lbs, a 1 ton same cab/box/4x4 is 12,100lbs.     Hubs and hub bearings are the same for 11.5" and 12" axles.  Housing, diff carrier and ring/pinion are larger for the 12".   All gas use the 11.5" axle, 3/4, 1 ton and 1 ton DRW.
