Got a pair of LEDs off eBay, one is broken. The only way I can find to request a half refund is to say I didn't get the item? I put in comments I got it but one is broken. Any idea if ebay will side with be or force me to return it for a refund? I saw the problem was a wire broke off the solder so I re soldered it. Still didn't work, took it apart again and saw the circuit on the board had a break when the wire pulled off.

Yeah, probably shouldn't have tried to fix it because they might blame the damage on me(it does look worse, lol), but the thing wasn't working anyway so I figured worth a shot myself rather that do a return and wait for a refund for weeks.

$7 so I'm not fretting over it. Already ordered Zevo bulbs anyway. Just would rather get the refund for a crappy part than not get one.

There should be a drop-down menu of reasons for the return. Alot of the time, the reason isn't listed - can be a little aggravating to figure out where to go from there.

They usually side with buyers heavily. I've bought and sold thousands of items over the past 12 years on there. I've got shafted as a seller, and I've been rewarded as a buyer. Only once did I buy something where there wasn't any way to get the seller to pay for a defective part.

Recently I bought a set of e-code glass headlight assemblies for our '93 Volvo 940. Turned into a total nightmare. Had to return one assembly the day I received it. Looked like a 5 year old kid assembled it on his first run with a glue gun. Also, the entire lens assembly inside wasn't attached to the adjustment mechanism, and was floating around in the glass housing freely. They were either as stupid as a stump, or were stalling .. but they had a hell of a time trying to figure out how to email me a shipping label. Eventually I got one from UPS, and sent that one back. 2 friggin weeks later, I finally get the replacement ...

I install both sides. Had to disassemble one of them to figure out how it was wired, since the description said they had, in not so many words, the best & easiest to understand wiring diagram on the planet ... which was nowhere to be found in either box. Then, I had to use my 4mm female bullet connectors, and crimp them down to fit the 3.6mm pins. One light had a pre-made harness, the other I had to make myself. Then, I realized they had internally wired the driving lamp and fog lamp backwards - one would come on when the other should have. Went inside again and switched 2 wires around in each housing. I finally get everything wired up, and they worked, & looked great. Shined the lights on the garage door - look a little low. Night comes ... yeah, definitely low. So I crank them up as high as they would go. I go for a test drive. Can't see 3' in front of the car! They're aiming straight to the ground, and I'm out of adjustment. Biggest pieces of dung I have ever purchased in my friggin life.

Got a refund the minute they received the tracking info. 100% - didn't pay a dime for shipping either time. Was the only good thing I can say about the seller.

Haven't used fleabay in ages. Amazon has made online shopping so much easier.

I just bought a belt on there ... and just received my refund today, lol.

First the thing shows up here with postage due. Was a "free shipping" item. So they refund me the shipping. Then today, I go out and compare it to the old belt - not even in the same ballpark. Was about 28" too long, lol. Then I look at the number on the belt - not what I ordered. They told me to keep it, and refunded my money. No harm, no foul.

Anyone need a Goodyear Gatorback Matchmaker 15557?

Why would you file a claim with eBay against the seller without contacting the seller first? eBay will side with the seller since you didn't follow the proper steps and selected the wrong reason.

Because they tend to ignore the messages. It worked, send a question and no response for 12 hours(USA seller). Started a claim and got the 50% refund in an hour.

And no, ebay usually sides with buyer. You can find absolutely absurd stories online about it. Basically the only way a buyer can ENSURE there aren't forced to give a refund is if they have signature conformation. Even delivery confirmation isn't a sure thing. Search eBay buyer fraud on ebay.

That has a few happy endings but it's supposed to be a hassle to get it set right.

Quad pays off at the end of the year and Can Am has all their old inventory bikes on sale. I may end up with a Maverick SxS Xxc edition. Still thinking about it but sometimes the gf doesn't want to ride her quad even though she just got it so I figured if I got a SxS which rides much better on rocky trails and such that she has no excuse. Sounds like a valid reason to get a SxS, right?? Lol

Sounds like a good enough reason to me.

eBay sellers 99% of the time are great. I've ran multiple eBay stores and always hated people who filed claims right away. You should always give the seller the opportunity to make it right. When someone filed a claim with eBay they usually got a lesser resolution than if they would have contacted me first. And you're right eBay is idiots and sides with buyers way too much. I had a buyer submit a claim saying we sold her a counterfeit jacket (Canada Goose) and her reasoning was because our price was too cheap. So I responded to the claim with an email from my Canada Goose sales rep and a copy of winter order from them totalling $55k and they sided with the buyer. That's when I learned that if a buyer submits any claim and says the item is fake ebay will always side with the buyer. They even told me that on the phone. Amazon on the other hand actually protects their sellers. Sorry rant over lol.

My wife sells on eBay a lot and has a high ranking, she buys her stuff at garage sales and puts it on eBay. My garage plus two other small buildings in my yard is full of stuff. Most stuff she buys is 5$ or less and we are amazed at what people will pay. When there is a question she refunds no questions ask, but she didn't pay much for it anyway. This funds our vacations. I can't say much about her being a cheapo, I drive for uber just becouse I like to drive and to cheap to do it without getting paid for it.
