RANT: GM dash clips

Ok, anyone who has had to pull apart their dash knows what I'm talking about, some are tougher than others, especially the first time you pull them.

 

I've had just about every piece off on my truck almost except the bottom parts, today I wanted to take the driverside knee bolster off, I got the 2 screws and the parkbrake off, but damn the clips are in their so tight. This time I really thought it was going to break, I had to stop. I heard cracking.

 

I know plastic tools help, not on this piece though.

 

 

I just want the damn thing off so I can have an easier time bolting my trailer brake controller on as the 3m doublesided tape I used gave away after a year. I'm not a fatass I just want room to make it dead straight.

 

I know the techs break the plastic the actually holds the damn things, I found my door had broken ones after body repair from a break in, I even called them on it, I told them I knew where to look, having my door off before. Of course it was an arguement to get them to order the piece.

 

 

WHY U MAKE CLIPS SO HARD TO PULL OUT GM?

They're tough to pull off so they don't squeak and rattle. I've had the interiors apart in just about every brand out there and GM is no worse than anyone else- Ford, Chrysler, the Euro and Asian stuff, all tight as hell.

Ill take the pain in the ass with having to spend twice as long taking them off over a constant sqeek any day. My truck dash has a nasty sqeek when it gets cold out. Couldnt imagine the headache I would have if all the clips holding the dash together made a noise.

I never thought of that, makes sense, my truck doesn't squeak and I've never heard one squeak at work, hence not thinking of it.
