The RX350 is well respected for its beam pattern on the HID Planet forum. It has a very wide beam as you can see part of on the left. That pic doesn't do the projector justice (or any others for evaluating the width and outer beam performance. There's a poll over on HID Planet on this projector.

SJ,

None of the holes line up. My retrofit will not drill holes thru the housing or at angles. It'll be simple adapter plate and a reducing ring for the lens snout.

No I definitely agree the 350 is a very solid projector. I've run the FX-R and the EVOX-R in my F150 and I am more of a fan of the EVOX-R myself. Everyone loves the FX-R, and it is good - but there are other alternatives that definitely dont get enough credit.

Frankly, I would be happy with the FX-R performance, but 2 things moved me toward the RX350 BiX, non-AFS:

First the mounting I saw was not what I wanted to do. I found the specs on the RX projector and took a chance and bought them. Bass Mechanic had his removed OEM projectors around and he was kind enough to loan me one. I've come up with a simple layout for an adapter plate to mount the RX. It will also require a reducing/centering ring for the lens snout.

Second, the RX350 BiX had a lot of good comments on the HID Planet forum regarding its wide beam. Since my peeve about the factory projector is its narrow beam, I'm over-compensating. :D If I thought I could have shoehorned in the Acura TL projector, I would have gone with those. But, there's an old comparison of the RX vs the TL and it doesn't look to be worth it for me to change horses at this point. http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?39272-Bi-Xenon-RX350-and-TL-Comparison&highlight=RX-350

The FX-R has a perfectly straight cutoff going for it that the RX really doesn't have. The RX is actually designed to have a drop of the cutoff on the oncoming traffic side and a little rise in the cutoff on the ditch side which can be seen on the shape of the cutoff shield/shutter.

The hump in the center is also to eliminate the light directly in front of you to preserve night vision. Some will even advance that limiter up further to really eliminate the foreground but I've never seen the point.

Like I said, when you get those brackets cut, I would definitely pay a premium for a set :)

90% of you guys will be more than happy with just the Moto HID kit. Spend the $170.. and call it the day. Your lights will be at least 2x better than stock.

True, but the factory bleed light up so if you go 50 watt like I did you have to chenge the projector. I was just going to throw them in but talked with TRS and since I would blind people and need a new kit again to change later, the talked me into doing it right the first time. I'm very happy I did. The only time my lights hit others is over crests. I know now the factory would have required me to lower the lights so far it would have been almost pointless. I will be aiming then ourwards just a little next time I have the lights off. They are straightforward but I could get more coverage and reduce the center hotspot some.

Will the adapter plate be Sierra or silverado specific?

I plan to run the silverado kit so Xb35 bulbs. Now today I feel lazy and think just the kit and call it a day. Nothing ordered yet so I'll probably change my mind. I'm ocd and overkill by nature.

SJ,

I am making the plates for the Sierra. I don't know if the Silverado projector has the same pattern or not. Maybe. Someone has already removed their projectors from a Silverado. Some straight on pics would help.

I bought The sierra spec hid kit, and have been running them for about a month now. Well, I want to upgrade to do a full projector setup from Morimoto. Will my sierra spec his system now be useless?

No. You can use the Morimoto ballast and harness. The bulbs will have to change to whatever the projector bulb size is. Often, that's the D2S bulb size. You'll also need the ballast to bulb harness. That part is pretty reasonable.

Thanks for the info....

    • I think users are going to want to pick their monitored parameters, which parameters they want to see first.    It should probably start with baseline at a minimum and adjust to learned, but be able to overlay baseline for comparison.   A simple severity level would be able to determine what type of alerting is appropriate or user selectable.    Why not use the OBD port though?   I think a phone connection would be a good idea, push notifications type deal.   Number 1 issue is having data is useless if you don’t know what the data should be under normal conditions.
    • I thought I would use your thread and add to it as I just did my first longer drive with my truck in the last couple of days. I drove from the Grande Prairie area of Alberta down to Edmonton and most of where I drove in the city was the ring road so fairly free flowing but a bit of stop and go as well in the city. Stayed the night and returned home and not too many stops along the way each way but every restart and certainly every cold start sets it back for fuel mileage. Why I say that is I see some people will cherry pick a fuel mileage leg after the vehicle had been warmed up driveline wise before hand and its a forgiving ( easy rolling drive leg for example ) and call that their fuel mileage which can give a false perception of reality. I was not heavily loaded at all but never the less the flip bak cover, rubber bed mat, various tools etc and extra jerry cans of fuel all way up to a few hundred pounds of dead weight so its not an empty truck. The cold inflation tire pressures are set more near the freezing point so once they are warmed up driving I was showing 45 front and over 40 rear and realize high inflation pressures would help a little in fuel mileage but certainly not the ride on our crap sections of highway. The weather was good so was not raining as that can really drag mileage down, in fact I had a bit of a tail wind on average driving home. Most people on here would never have driven on that freeway to visualize it but its got a fair bit of rolling type of landscape with numerous river valleys. For the most part I had it on cruise set to 62 although kicking it off if I caught it in time before it started down shifting and self braking going down the grades. Most of the more substantial grades its shifting into 7th I believe as 8th just doesn't have it. Total distance round trip was 643 miles and my overall average and I did refuel three times in all, figured out to 17.65 miles per US gallon. My best fuel mileage section refuel within all of this figured out to 18.46 and these are all hand calculated figures. I find if anything that the trucks computer can be over optimistic, sometimes its pretty close but other times its stretching it. On paper persay in theory the truck would have just about made it on fumes for that whole drive without refueling once.    Which made me think of the topic thread of the wonder if these trucks could do 20 mpg and that is a good question, certainly would have to be on an easy going flat highway, no head wind, the right temperature, not packing around a bunch of dead weight and puttering along even slower than I was I would suspect and going steady and not stopping to smell the flowers or take a piss !. It probably is possible but not without effort to attain that with the wind resistance and weight of these trucks. Of course on my drive most people are passing me if they have the power as per loaded highway tractors, never mind a lot of speedy vehicles but the speed limit is 68 and most are at or well over that.
