I've spent the last month looking at this forum and everything else online so I could to try to get the best information on what to do to my 2014 Silverado to level it. After all the research I went with the Bilstein adjustables and Hankook Dynapro 275/70/18. This is my first post so I'll do my best on the before and after pics. The ride is great and better than factory. It's winter and truck is dirty but I couldn't be happier with this set up.

 

What setting do you have the bilsteins set on?

I have them set on the top (highest) setting. It's supposed to be 1.8" on the 2014 model. The rear have no lift and are stock height.

I have had my RC 2.5" level on now for 8,000 miles and have had no issues. I love the way my truck sits. And it was extremely easy to install.

I'm thinking about getting the same on my 14' all-terrain, how long did it take you and did you need any speciality tools to help the process?

Thanks for posting there are very few pics of the bilsteins on the new models. I'm waiting for my rears then going to get them installed. Did it raise the front up exactly 1.8" Hell it almost looks like it's sitting nose high.

I have a 2015 Sierra Denali and I just put the 2.5" RC level kit on the front. I didn't add the rear block because it sits almost perfectly level now. The problem I have is that it rides like a dump truck now. The front is really tight and bouncy. It has been aligned professionally and everything but the ride is definitely worse than I had anticipated. Anyone else have this problem? The truck does have the factory 22" wheels and the side wall of the tire is pretty low profile but this has me thinking of taking it off completely. Any suggestions because Rough Country said they had never heard of this before?!

My husband and I just bought a 2015 Sierra Denali 2500 brand new a week ago. We previously had a 2012 Ford Lariat F-350. The Ford always had a rough ride and I hated it. We test drove the Denali and absolutely fell in love with the ride. My husband wanted the leveling kit put on it just because he didn't like the slight slant. We had it done and picked it up yesterday. The ride is now horrible (worse than the Ford was). Every little bump makes the front end bouncy. I have an appointment to have the leveling kit removed on Monday. Lesson learned. Read before I buy.

I haven't measured it yet, it may look nose high in the pic because of my driveway slant, it appears level on level ground, I wouldn't want the front any higher, depending on how it looks when I tow or have a load, I may add a small block in the rear to give it some rake. I have the long box crew cab. Not sure if that makes a diff but it would be nose high if the front came up any more. The Bilsteins gave the front all the lift it would take.

I too would like to change out the stock ranchos with the bilteins. I really dislike the ride after the 2inch RC spacer. I really need to get to around a 2.5 up front. Has anyone left the 2inch spacer on and mounted the bileins on the lowest or 1rst setting?

It took me about 3.5 hours to do it by myself. No specialty tools needed, just some wrenches and sockets. If I had an extra set of hands it probably would have shaved off 45 min. or so.

Sounds good, have any of yall tried the rancho quicklift leveling shocks, similar to the bilsteins but it comes fully assembled with coil springs and everything. Bad part is its pretty pricey at $400

Take a side pic of your truck with that setup. Are they flush with the wheel well ? Did ya have to do any trimming for the 33x12.50-20 with 18 mm offset?

wow... long thread and now I am more confused than ever. I am looking for pics that are running stock 18's. I am looking at either a 2 or 2.25 in level with either 275 70 18 or 285 75 18 ...I only have a 4.3 so really don't want to go much bigger, just looking to level and get a little more clearance for hunting some back woods places. thanks

    • I find it amusing the OP doesn’t realize this threads heading includes several engines. He should have posted in the off topic section if he wanted a more narrow focus. I really appreciate and find amusing that he actually pointed out one of my many vehicles. The Odyssey. That happens to use 0-20 oil. I love pushing his buttons. 
    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.

    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks, 
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
