'16 Sierra SLE DC 4x4 5.3

MSRP: $45370

Paid: $34000

I see some others got a little better deals but I'm pretty happy. Got a good trade price for my old Ram and don't have to drive a Mopar anymore.

had been looking for a good deal after having my truck totaled after the flooding here in Louisiana last month.

Dealerships around town weren't budging on prices, so to get a better deal I began looking out of state. Found a dealer in nearby Alabama that was willing to deal on a 2016 silverado LTZ double cab. MSRP was listed at $48k and some change. I bought it for $36,639

Worked out the details over the phone and email and then made the drive Saturday morning to pick it up. Local dealer was willing to give me the GM tag discount of 16%, but unwilling to budge off MSRP- they were selling 60+ cars a day and weren't interested in cutting any deals. Needless to say, I will remember that in the future. Also, they both approved me for GM financing... Only the dealer in Alabama was able to give me an interest rate 1.5% lower than local. Hmmm...

Got me thinking these MSRP's are price balloon high so we all feel we got a deal.Sales tactics,it worked on me.

It's looking like they're coming in around 10-13k below MSRP from all the research I've done.

People need to separate out the bonus tag discount from the dealer discount. You might think you are getting a good deal (16%) but the dealer is contributing squat. You want them to have some skin in the game as well.

How about ordering? What are folks getting for dealer discount on a factory order for a 2017? Dealers like to make a big deal about invoice but invoice is a joke. Seems like 90% of MSRP on a factory order should be doable. Then you also get whatever rebates exist when the truck arrives. Anyone?

20% off MSRP to start the negotiating or I walk. I would rather ride a bicycle than overpay for a depreciating asset, but that's just me

Deals on leftovers are one thing but how about ordering in a new 2017? I speced a silverado and was offered 9.75% off MSRP plus whatever rebates are in play when the truck arrives. What is the experience of others in regard to factory orders?

Same here, lost my truck in the flooding. Every place in Louisiana basically told me sticker price and scoffed at the mention of anything lower. I'll be flying to Texas in a week or so to pick up my new truck. They had the 20% deal and made life way easy. Probably could have done a bit better than the 20%, but it was quick, painless, and since everything else has been a nightmare lately, I'm okay with paying more than I could have...just because they were so nice.

...It's as if the dealers in Louisiana didn't even want my business. Zero returned phone calls, tons of generic emails. I harassed one for almost a week to give me the final price so I could get a check to him and get the damn truck. He kept avoiding me.

Where is Texas are you going to get your truck? I'm in the same situation here in Baton Rouge

I took a pass on an offer for a '16 Silverado of $34,500 vs. $45,500 MSRP. I'd rather pay more for a new truck exactly the way I want it. So ----- I'll ask again, what have people been running into in regard to dealer discounts on factory ordering a 2017?

2016 Sierra CC 4x4 demo with 4200 miles on it, MSRP is $54850. They are offering it for $43678. Thoughts? What should I counter with?

Id offer 40k. I mean it already has 4200 miles on it.

    • I have a basic 2026 1500 WT  (2.7L/4WD reg cab shorttbed). Comfy, generally happy with electronics/radio - but is there a way I can add switches to steering wheel right-side position (curr. empty) so I can adjust volume, push phone button to voice dial, etc? Bill W San Jose
    • The curb weight on a 1 ton crew cab long bed is around 7k lbs.  Now, I don't know where you went to school but 9k is not more than 2x 7k lbs. More than 2x 7k lbs would be 14k+.   With that said, obviously yes you're going to feel a 9k lb trailer when slowing down.  I already said, when accelerating.  When changing lanes?  No.  But if you look at the context of what was quoted, the original person said, "after a mile or two..." which means that would be after the accelerating portion and you're driving a generally steady pace.  Please do learn to read and comprehend.
    • So I purchased the Range unit for my 2026 and I am seeing different locations suggested for the ECM . Can anyone confirm wither under hood, left side or right side or behind the wheelwell?
    • Like I've said before. Di and Carbon buildup is not that big of a concern. Engine had minimal buildup, and that engine was obviously not super well maintained. Do regular oil changes, and you're gtg as long as the rest of the truck lasts. Also, the High Pressure FP that people ****** about, but can't tell you why.  Now, I wish they'd trash the variable oil pump. No real world issues with them, but I'll gladly eat whatever miniscule MPG it's saving me in favor of more oil at all RPMs.    Curious to see his assessment of the 7.3 compared to the 6.6. I expect he'll praise the port inj, but from a structural standpoint, the 6.6 is as robust as any engine out there.    Not to take away from the 7.3. I feel it's equally as good as the 6.6.     As to heat on the rear cyls, I'd have to see numerous examples before I'd say it's an issue. Especially not knowing the history of that engine. For all is known, they could have blown a rad hose, and ran it hot, and the 2 rear cyls may be the first to get hot in a low coolant situation, but not be an issue aside from that.
    • "Life is getting back to normal."    I'm driving again and all new joints are operating as expected for this stage of recovery.   My most recent joint replacement still requires a lot of attention but experience has taught me that time will quiet the remaining pain.  I joked with my surgeon that another joint replacement would take my mind off my most recent surgery and he responded by saying the next will be a hip!  There are no plans for another surgery but, unlike me, I don't think he was joking!  I certainly wouldn't refuse further replacement  if required but hope to spend time out of the "post-op"  period.  I can't stress enough that if you have been recommended for total hip, knee or shoulder replacement that you welcome the offer.  Post-op "recovery" may sound daunting and painful, however, this is far better than the insidious erosion of mobility you are currently experiencing.  Imagine what it would feel like to wake up most mornings feeling better and more mobile than you did the previous day!  Prior to my first surgery in June 2025, even getting out of bed was becoming a formidable task.  Since the day after my first surgery, I get out of bed everyday easily and unassisted.  Making the switch to feeling a little better each day rather than a little worse, is hugely motivating!
