I think my truck is on the low end of the spectrum when it comes to the 14s. I'm getting 12-15 in town stock and 18-20 highway at best. It's more like 13 city, 17 highway.

Mine too. Drives me crazy seeing people on here getting 18-24. I have a stock setup and drive mine like an old man, and I'm stll not getting what I expected (or as advertised).

I've driven allot of long distance road trips and have never hit anything near 24mpg. I think most of these high numbers you see are only small portions sample sizes or "best 25/50 miles driven. I only count mpg based on what I drove on that full tank. The highest I've ever averaged for the full tank is 20.5mpg.

I agree, I hit 25.3 on the last 50 reading on a trip a couple weeks back. The 25.3 was in a slower speed zone (60mph) and had a lot of downhill and was flat or very small grades going uphill. I set the cruise at 60 just to see what it would get. Adding in the rest of the highway with long uphill drives and long downhill drives, I'd say it was closer to 19-21ish overall with the cruise set at 73mph. That was all stock with a 5.3 and 20's. I'm at 17 for my lifetime average right now with a whopping 2090 miles lol. The average seems to be getting less the more I get used to driving it like a man and not a gramp as well.

to get the 23.8 on flat ground at 67 miles per hour I fixed the gas pedal flex and am incredible light on the pedal.

it is extremely difficult. The cruse only gets 21. I have to manually control it, letting the truck roll down inclines so it

can get up the next small incline without pressing on the gas more.

 

Its like a game, I watch the mileage the entire time. If I don't, it drops quickly.

My wife thinks I am nuts watching it that closely.

 

She drove the truck less then 5 miles and dropped my average down to 12. Took me two days to get it back up.

These trucks will drink the fuel if you let them.

 

68 it will drop, 64 it will drop. My truck has to be at 67 mph to get it.

at 32 mph I can get 28 on flat level ground.

I just filled up. 11.8 MPG through Fuelly...Worst to date

pure gas always helps get better mileage for me. Most places only sell gas with 10% ethanol and it brings down the mpg.

The highest I have ever got was 15.6. I am about 60/40 city though. I understand that city driving is worse, but to be 3 mpgs worse, at my best, then what city is supposed to be rated at is a joke. My last tank I was at 13.1.

I wont keep doing it, just wanted a good base line to compare each mod.

For those who talk about coasting or downhill. I use a round trip.

 

I get better millage at 67 then 45. I have not found a perfect spot in a 55 mph zone.

Have not driven many of those.

 

For a quick test it is 15 miles one way, I check average there and back.

For long test it is 65 miles one way. I average there and back.

 

I am not picking all down hill.

 

My 2010 got 14 mpg and it drove my nuts. I want to be darn sure I know what causes this truck to get bad millage if it happens.

I think a lot of people are missing that I am a 2 door. I'm sure the lighter weight has some effect.

I'd like to find that magic number for the 55mph highway I travel to and from work on m-f. Problem is it's got about 8 stop lights on it and tons of traffic, so the cruise is usually useless. Basically like city driving but a little faster haha.

cruise lowers my millage slightly. I have decided it is cause it slows the truck down when going down an incline.

If I am driving I let the truck roll and get better numbers.

 

If you not in town, you might not have much traffic.

I have found that if I triple my normal stopping distance when coming up to the light, I can make up any lost fuel millage when taking off.

I let the truck start coasting as soon as the light is in sight, when no one is behind me. This gives me about the same distance at 99 mpg

as I get 6 mpg when taking off. Thus not effecting my average.

 

Yes... this is going to an extreme and I wont do it all the time. But its kinda like a game at the moment.

Remember, I have had my truck about 15 days. But I have 1800 miles on it.

I agree, I feel like I'm playing/trying to win a video game with the DIC while I'm driving still haha.

Read up on 'hypermiling'

 

Hmm... did not know there was a term. I figured all that stuff out on my own.

I was thinking about pulsing yesterday. I kinda figured that you could speed up and cost

and get better millage then just going one speed. Again no idea there were terms.

i have just been playing with my last few cars to get better millage when gas was $4 a gallon.
