Honestly, this is my last question about lowering (haha), and thanks to all who have replied and helped narrow my options.

2014 Sierra RCSB

Rear Bump Stops..........can they not be removed without removing the bump stop bracket? I've peeked under a few Sierra/Silverados, and I can't see how they are mounted.

Yes they can be removed, inside the hole on the bottom of the rubber bumper there is a bolt that you will remove.

Which Belltech kit?

Pretty excited about writing this post. My 4 month quest for a pickup was finally realized a couple of weeks ago. After considering all the import and domestic brands, GMC came out on top for me, especially from an aesthetics stand point. Now, I may be different than many of you truck enthusiasts..........I've been driving BMW's and Audi's for the past 15 years, with my most recent being a 2014 Audi RS5. Wicked car, amazing power, fit and finish etc, but it just didn't offer the utility I wanted for pulling a trailer with sport bikes on, shuttling mountain bikes up the north shore mountains here in Vancouver, etc......

So my search for a 2014 Sierra RCSB SLE spanned across Canada and in to WA and OR. Hard to find to say the least. I looked at the 2016's but I wasn't sold on the new grill design, and the prices for a 2015/14 were just too attractive. I ended up finding a 2015 on a dealers lot, with the right wheels, right color, Navigation, etc etc.

First order of business was to decide on a tonneau. Holy crap was that ever a big research project. I wanted a really good design that allowed me some kind of trunk. I landed on the Fold-a-Cover with the caddy. Super sweet design.

Next up was leather. I haven't driven a vehicle without leather for 20 years, and I was impressed with some of the Katskin interiors I had seen. Ordered up black, perforated leather, with silver stitching, and had the local installer add heated seats with a Hi-Lo-Off switch. We had a cold rainy day here in Vancouver today, and I'll tell ya, on hi...........you will be sweating after 20mins. Love it

Suspension was next, and after agonizing over lowering options, and reading everything I could for about an hour a day over 4 months, I decided to "lame out" and go with a non-invasive 2/4 drop. I just couldn't bring myself to cutting the bump stop brackets off a brand new truck with zero miles on it. In the end, it measured 1.75" in the front, and 3.25" in the rear.

I am a bit of a suspension junkie, at least with all my sport bikes, so handling was more important to me than ride height. I chose to spend the money on a Helwig sway bar, and I gotta tell ya.............it transforms the truck. Sure, it sits flat railing around a cloverleaf on the freeway, but you can really feel the difference all the time, even just pulling away from a light and turning left or right, it feels way tighter/flatter. There are three stiffness settings for the sway bar, and they set me up at the least stiffest of the three to start. I'll have them adjust it to the stiffest and let you folks know how it feels.

Here is a before pic measuring (from ground to wheel arch) 36.25" front and 40" rear:

After pic measuring 34.5" front and 36.75" rear. My air dam was 9" off the ground, and now its 7.5":

Another pic for good measure:

Components:

Helwig Sway Bar

Belltech front adjustable struts

Belltech rear shocks

Belltech rear lowering kit (shackles, U-bolts, plates etc)

Consistent with many other owner's feedback, the Belltech's are a huge improvement in ride quality over the very harsh Ranchos that come on a Z71.

Here's a shot of the Katskinz perforated interior:

I'm picking up my new truck on tuesday, and when i go to belltech's website, they only list the front adjustable struts for rwd which I'm guessing means 2wd? Beautiful truck btw!

The Belltech struts they put on mine are the BEL25004, and the shocks were the BEL8504 Nitro Drop 2.

RWD = 2WD

Please let us know how the 8504's ride. I'm dropped 2" in the back, still running the stock shocks.

    • Hello All!   My 2019 Colorado 3.6 LT, 4WD Crew Cab has approximately 77,500 miles and I recently began experiencing the well-known transmission shudder between about 30 and 65 mph. The problem had worsened to the point that I could no longer attribute it to road conditions - and I had decided to bring the truck to the dealer - when recently, I experienced a sudden loss of power while driving at maybe 40 MPH. Several warning lights flashed, the “Check Stabilitrack” message appeared, and the Check Engine, Stabilitrack, and Traction Control icons remained illuminated. The truck regained driving power, but it stayed in a low gear with unusually high RPMs for the speed. (limp mode?) Because I was only about two miles from home, driving slowly, I was able to make it back and run an OBD-II scan, which showed fault codes U0101, P0700, and U0100. My next trip in the truck was to drive it to the dealer the following day. That trip began normally, but after about a mile I experienced another loss of power, along with the same warning lights and the same “Check Stabilitrack” message. As before the truck remained driveable, but again operated at an abnormally high RPM-to-speed ratio and seemed stuck in a single gear. About a mile later, the dashboard lit up once more, this time displaying “Check 4WD.” Soon after that, I arrived at the dealer. I have verified that the truck still has its original factory transmission fluid, which means it has never received the corrective fluid exchange outlined in GM Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355.  That was Thursday of last week and I've heard nothing yet from the dealer.    According to Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355 and the build date of my truck, my truck should have the newer LV fluid. I've done a little research and read something about a problem with the wiring harness as well.   Anyone have an insights into this situation?  Thank you!!

    • Did you even read this article?   Even the title of the article says "U.S.-Iran Deal Doesn’t Mean a Swift Return of Oil and Gas Flows"   Remember, crude oil prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the oil companies.  Gas prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the station.  This article stated that many of the oil producing nations have to restart their processes to get the oil produced.  Then the oil has to be shipped to wherever.  And it doesn't get there overnight.  And most of that oil is not coming here. Check out this site:  https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10621   A graph will pop up to show where the US imports their oil from.  Notice that there isn't a lot of import from OPEC and Iraq.  Most of the US import comes from Canada. The US oil produces are selling their oil on the open market, which is why the US fuel costs went up.  So you're correct, the US oil companies are going to slow walk the price downward.
