Has anybody tried the Nitro Blue Putcos yet? I see a few people who have tried the mirror white. From what I have read on other site reviews the Nitro Blue is mostly white. The Nitro Blue is 4400k, whereas the Mirror White is 4000k.

 

As Motomedic said before though, the glass is just tinted a different color, but same light output. Just wondering the different results or if the Nitro Blue actually "appeared" brighter.

Even though the brightness gains are not large, there is some gain (1875 lumens to 2350) in going from 9012 55w stock bulbs to 9011 65w bulbs. So, I thought I'd show what's needed to do the swap.

 

First, one outside tab needs trimming. Fortunately, it's a plastic base. I used a small end nipper and then an exacto knife to clean it up.

 

 

 

Next, the inside ribs need to be removed.

 

I placed it in a vice and very lightly tightened it as shown.

 

 

Then I used a narrow, very sharp wood chisel and a very small hammer to lightly tap and cut the ribs out.

 

 

Plug and play!

Well done sir. I've ordered 9012 replacement bulbs, but if I don't think they cut the mustard, I'd definitely like to try to 65 watt 9011's. (So long as they don't burn the housing)

I drove the truck tonight. Definitely an improvement. I would guess most people would say they are what you'd expect for decent stock lights, now that I put the 65w 9011 bulbs in.

I dont know if it's whiter. Its brighter. There seems to be more light to the side as well.

It's still a standard 9011 HIR so it won't be whiter, just brighter than 9012.

The cheapest place I found the 9011 bulbs was with Home Depot online (only). $18 ea.

Finally had time this weekend to install the Vled H11 lowbeam bulbs with the Morimoto relay harness and capacitor. Also put in the 2nd set of Vled ps24w fogs. The first set one of the bulbs had 2 pods out.

Since I'm *slightly* ocd about wanting things to look clean I cut and extended the Morimoto harness so it was long enough to put everything on the drivers side where there is actually room to work. I extended the grounds for both sides back to the ground on the firewall and ended up putting everything in the plastic wire wrap to make it look more stock.

Yes, driver side is led and passenger is stock. The pic facing the garage from the outside is with both led bulbs installed.

I've only had them in since Saturday night but haven't noticed any flickering and yes they now function as drl's as well. One thing I did notice is the passenger side shuts off a split second after the driver side. They do both come on at the same exact time. I assume its from the hd harness being a single input and its just the left over voltage going to the passenger side. Its not an issue, just an observation. Also, its hard to tell but it seems like when they are on as drl's its at full power instead of being dimmer.
