Halogen & LED Headlight Bulb Upgrades

I just got around to getting a picture. Of the Vleds headlights and fogs against a background. They look like they are a little high haven't gotten flashed by anyone but a friend driving his little Audi was in front I me and said they were way too bright. 9yne4a6y.jpg

I will try and get better pics tonight.

Is that of the low beams? THere should be a distinct cutoff line with the low beams or it will look like your highs are on all the time to oncoming traffic.

Yes those are just the low beams on. I'm going to turn the bulbs around and see if that helps. These are not the projectors. They are the regular headlights.

OK that makes a little more sense. I'm betting you won't get very good focus out of them regardless though.

If anyone is interested in the Philips 9011 bulbs - I have a set for sale, They were installed in my 2014 Sierra for about 30 min. The tabs have already been cut down, so you don't need to do anything but install. They costs about $40 for a set. I will sell for $25.00 shipping included. Paypal only. PM me if interested...

Looking on DDM's website, are any of the Error Elliminator kits or Adaptors needed for a 15 LTZ?

I have a LTZ and was wondering what the best combo would be for matching headlight/foglights that are better than stock? Photos would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone put H9 bulbs in their 2014 Silverado instead of the H11's. I have read that the connector only needs to be modified slightly in order to make the fit. Looks like H9's are 65w and 2100 lumens.

On my 08 Silverado I ran the H9 in my low beams. You need to grind one of the the three tabs down to a narrow tab. The connector I used was a short jumper from Bulbzilla.

They have very good output. The only downside is the short life. I was changing bulbs about once a year per side. I was using H9 Sylvania bulbs from Kragen/O'REILLY for $14 .

For the 9005 high beams, you might look into using a 9011 HIR bulb

Sierra 2014 All Terrain with DRL led and add a led bar 6000k. If I want to match the color, I want to put PUTCO 9012 bulb. Mirror white 4000K or Nitro blue 4400K? Do you have pictures?

This is my setup: led bar + DDM 6000k hid for my fog. I check for the headlights swamp.

If I understand, 4000k is like the DRL led, and 4400k is like my fog and 19'' led bar?

Thanks!

Hello all-- First post on the forum.

I just read this entire thread from start to finish and wow am I up in arms about the lack of options for the new(er) trucks. I picked up a 2014 1500 All Terrain the other night and want to bump up the lighting.

Motomedic, would you mind elaborating a little more on the issue of running LED bulbs with the projectors? My 2015 WRX has this setup and the light is excellent. My 2013 HD FLTRX also had this same setup and the light was outstanding (JL Speaker Lights).

I might have found an option for those wanting to go the LED route in something over the 2200lm range but am working on the research now..

Also.. has anyone considered getting OE replacement units from a Denali and testing compatibility?

Hey man, not sure when Moto will respond to your question, he hasn't posted in quite some time. He got promoted at work and has been cleanin up the mess left by the previous guy and hasn't had much time to get on.

Just wanted to give you a headsup Incase it might be a while before he responds!

But the LED bulb replacements just aren't designed for use in projectors. I don't know much more past that. I'm sure YouTube has a video explaining why or if you google it someone has likely conducted an experiment and can show exactly why they don't play nice together.

Thanks. I was researching for like 3 days non-stop and pretty much gave up. Ordered a HID retrofit kit from TRS and will see how it works with the OE projectors. Maybe do different projectors if unhappy...
