Draft coming from console

Hi everyone,

Just recently took my 2014 Sierra SLT for a long drive in the cold weather 21F. As I was driving with the heat set on 72F Auto, I noticed that I seemed to feel a chill, so I turned the heat up to 75. Still felt some cold air so I started to see if perhaps the defroster or dash vent were leaking any cold air - nope. Then I put my hand down next to my right leg and noticed an ice cold draft coming from all the seams of my console. Just putting my hand down into the deep well in the front of the console revealed that the thing is freezing! Cold air leaking from every crack, all the storage spaces are cold also.

Make me wonder if anything under the console is open to the elements somehow, there seemed to be enough pressure to make the cold air escape out all the cracks.

Thoughts? Anyone else notice this?

Thanks,

Dave

Sorry you're getting cold. But I'd be interested to know if there is room to get any beer in there. Sounds like it might come in handy!

I'm sure others here will be able to help with ideas. I'd be glad to but they haven't bother to build my truck yet.

Noticed the same thing today. 2014 silverado cc. Seemed to go away when I turned heat up. Will definitely mention to dealer at service time.

That's a great idea! Now only if it would stay that cold in the summertime.

I felt cold air mixing with the heat in my truck tonight (6F outside). Wasn't the first time i've felt it either. i turned on the HVAC recirculate button to shut off the flow of outside air, and it went away. I didn't notice it coming from the center console specifically, but i'll check next time I drive in the cold.

Does the '14 still use a cable-actuated shifter? Under the console is generally where the trans shift cable runs to the bottom of the truck then out to the trans. The seam where it passes through the body might be leaking air. If the shifter is electronic, then disregard.

Hmmm geektoad, that's a great suggestion. Could be that the recirc vent is in a position where it appears to come from the console. Going to try closing off the outside air on the drive home since it's still only 8F outside.

I've felt cold air around me head like I have a leak near the window or the spot between the doors on the crew cab I've been driving...

Same issue with me,,,6 degrees here in NH the past two days and probably 9 degrees in my center console. Weird.
