BringTheRain403 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 As the title states where's everyone putting the holster you keep in your truck? I don't like the ones out there that go under the steering column. Just looking for a few ideas. Thanks!
MikeNH Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I forget who makes it but there is a holster that will mount to the front of the seat cushion. No matter what I drive I keep the pistol on me. I carry OWB and will just slide the holster on my belt until it fits itself into the corner of the seat comfortably.
BlaznSaddles Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 When carrying a bullet launcher, it is always holstered on my hip.
hzhardy Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I have a SW 329 44 mag stuck between my seat and jump seat so when I release my seatbelt, SUPRISE!!!
BringTheRain403 Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 I was thinking the map pockets along the bottom of the center console would make a nice hiding spot that's easily accessible but I don't know of any holster that would fit there...
TJay74 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 On my person, as said I carry at the 3 o'clock position so it is right there.
hzhardy Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I typically always have my 357 snubbi appendix iwb, but I alway have a truck cannon I mean gun
thewhitestallion Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 on my right hip. if it's not in arms reach then it's too far and almost pointless to carry. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR GUNS IN YOUR CARS! I see people do this all the time and then their car gets stolen and they basically gave the criminal a firearm!
BringTheRain403 Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 I"m not saying I want to leave it there but I don't want to sit on it either.
klrrdr Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Took out the heat/AC vent on the dash by the radio. Keep it there. not only is it handy it keeps at truck temp. Nothing worse than grabbing a gun that's too cold or too hot, this way it's juuuust right.
crushNchowda Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 i just throw it in the center console, I don't carry a big gun on my person, I like a true CCW, so I can put the thing just about anywhere, including the thin "map" pocket next to your knee or whatever you want to call it. S&W bodyguard 380 w/ hollow pts FTW!!
KUUG Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 For anyone that carries check this console safe out http://www.mobilesecurityplusstore.com/Console_Safe_2014_Chevrolet_Silverado_GMC_Sierra_p/ld2040.htm It fits like a dream and is extremely easy to install. Much better than using the glove box, which isn't big enough for some guns.

I really like this not just for gun but for whatever else you may have laying around you don't want seen/stolen from your car: laptop, tablet, passport, cash, smart phone, or ahh, other "stuff" I wouldn't leave my piece in the glovebox ever you could pry that open w/ a damn ball point pen lol! I have a sentry fireproof safe that I'll throw under the rear seat and also loop a cable lock around the handle and then around one of the metal frames for the seat when I end up leaving guns in there over night.
MotoMedic Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I had mounted a slick Level 2 holster in my GMT-900 but this time around the K2's map pocket worked perfectly. It's not in a holster this time (pocket too narrow). Instead I just used a black rag at the bottom to keep it from scratching or sliding. The pistol rests barrel forward, slide down, mag up, which actually sets up a pretty smooth draw (hand/wrist motion similar to a football throw, but in reverse).
klrrdr Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Uncle mikes makes something called a sidekick holster. Made to use in pocket for carry. for small frame 38's etc. It is very narrow and in an emergency you can shoot right through it.
