As of now, it should accommodate either. The 42-Way Connector that is in the front of the full console is what my harness will plug into. This essentially feeds the USB Hub in the storage compartment. I plan to pig tail of that same 42-way connection and make up a 6-pin connector at the front where this will plug to either a Dual or Triple USB Hub at the front of the console.

What will Be will be required from the owner, is to land the USB cables to both hubs. This will require color coded USB cables that come from the HMI Module and/or the USB from under the passenger seat.

As it stands, there is (1) USB cable from the jump seat harness that should be used to drive (1) of the hubs.

Then we need to factor how you want to drive the 2nd hub. Since jump seats **should** have a Glove Box USB, we need to decide if we want to have all (5) USBs working. In my truck, that’ll mean - 2, 2 and 1. 2 in the storage compartment, 2 up front, and 1 in the Glove.

There are several configurations to this based on the options, years, etc.

My presumption... is that for 2014/2015, the USB connection will provide power and a “source input” for these years. For mid 2016+, you’ll get power + Car Play (if your Vehicle is equipped).

For 2014/2015, you’ll have 2 and 3 (+SD Card and Aux). 2 USBs in the storage compartment/SD Card) and 3 USBs up front.

Hope this make sense... the idea here, is to make it “easy” and as “PnP” as possible. What would be on the owner to do is land some USB cables.

Wow, I'll definitely interested when you get this together. I'm not electrical savvy by no means but I can land some USB cables if I have a part number or link to order from LOL

I am a few days away from fully testing this. I personally have a jump seat in mine. I spent today getting the circuits wired up for:

Charging Lid
Compartment Lamp
4th - 12V Cig lighter

Tomorrow - I should have terminals coming for the BCM. The last circuit to run is the Wireless Charging Indicator. This is the icon the shows up when your phone is charging.

Phil,

First, thank you very much for sharing this information and doing this for us.  I hate to be the one to throw a monkey wrench into the mix, but my truck seems a bit different.  It is a 2014 Silverado LT 4x4 with the jump seat from factory.  It has an audio port, two USBs, SD Card slot, and one 12v cig inside the jump seat console.  The rear of the jump seat console has another 12v cig outlet facing the rear seats.  The dash, next to the ash tray, has another 12v cig outlet and a 110 three hole plug.  There is NOT a USB port anywhere in the glove box upper or lower sections.

The new console i have sitting in my dining room does not have the SD Card slot - not that I have ever used this anyways.  If you are located in Dallas, I would love to come up there from Waco and let you supervise my console install.  If this isn't possible then I will give it a try solo this weekend using the splice method.

Thanks,

Thanks,

These are the differences between the 14/15 and 16/17 options.

2014 / 2015 Trucks:

Up front -
(3) - USB ports up front (This is a Hub)
(2) - 12V Cig Lighter
(1) - 110V Outlet Plug

Inside Compartment -
(1) - 12V Cig Lighter
(2) USB / (1) SD Card / (1) 3.5” Aux (This is a Hub)

Rear -
(1) - 12V Cig lighter

2016 / 2017 Trucks:

Up front -
(2) - USB Ports (This is a Hub)
(2) - 12V Cig Lighter
(1) - 110 Outlet Plug

Inside Compartment -
(1) - 12V Cig Lighter
(2) USB / (1) 3.5” Aux (This is a Hub)

Rear -
(1) - 12V Cig Lighter

The install will be almost identical in terms of how the USB Hubs are driven. The two Hubs will get their USB Cable feed from the HMI. The HMI is behind the upper Glove Box and will have a Green USB Port and a Black USB Port.

Each Hub needs a Gray USB Cable for the input. So, you’ll need to get a Green to Gray USB Cable, and a Black to Grey USB cable. This will go from the HMI to each Hub Receptacle. In addition, each Hub needs a 6-Pin connection. You’ll already one of these 6-Pin connectors present in the jump seat harness. You’ll need to splice a 2nd one in.

If you’ve taken the Full Console Harness Out, you can harvest another 6-Pin Connector.

What I’m working on - is a PnP harness to eliminate the need to remove the Full console harness and simply plug in my harness to the front of the Full Console :).

I would glad host you at my house with this :). PM for timing.

**Update** - Got some correct color coded USB cables and able to have all (5) USB ports working!

(1) - Glove Box
(2) - Front of the console
(2) - Inside Compartment of Console

Getting close to being 100% fully functional.

Wireless Charging only needs power and ground to work. Can be tapped by existing power and ground

Look at pages 74-76. I have a picture of them labeled.

We sat in that Home Depot parking lot for all that time and neither of us thought to just go inside for some connectors to hook those wires up!
