Did the rear seat fold down mod. I only did the long side. May do the other side later. I have been wanting to this mod since I got the truck.

That seems much less secure. What happens when your rear ended with passengers?

It still locks it in place just makes it to where when you lift the bottom of the seat the back will fold down with it.

Should not be an issue at all.

1. in a rear end collision the force would push the passenger further into the seat.

2. The bracket is fully engaged when the seat is down. So the same amount of metal to metal contact.

3. The seatbelts are mounted to the truck not the seat so no effect on them at all.

4. If rear seat passengers are belted this mod would have zero effect. If not belted the seat is still not going to move but they are going to be slamming the rear of the front seat.

These pics were a pain to get but wanted to show that this mod is in my opinion not a safety issue. Of course everyone needs to make their own decision on something like this. But for those that are wondering here are the pics.

I wasn't being critical, merely opening up further discussion. Good write up.

No problem at all. Was not sure how secure it would be till I took the seat out and saw how everything connected. I am not the least bit concerned now. I used to work crashes for a living and nothing about this upgrade is a safety issue in my opinion.

This is what the forum is for to me. Learning new things about the trucks and the back and forth discussion.

Agreed, I have years of research and development, along with prototype, there is nothing that shows strength/durability loss. The seat would have to fold up in such a fashion, I don't believe that it could happen with a human in the seat.

So I'm an idiot: What exactly is this mod? I've been staring at the pictures trying to figure out what this "rear seat fold down" mod is lol.
