Called camera in motion you have them unlock your hmi and it also requires a harness from @pgamboa

U can have your hmi unlocked, u get to watch videos in motion, camera in motion (Requires harness) and navigation in motion too... really nice if u have kids my 3 year old son loves watching toy story4 every time he’s in my truck ?

Ok.  Here is the explanation of this.

 

The mod here is accessing your reverse camera.  The factory method is that it only comes on in Reverse.  The mod is performed by having your HMI "Unlocked".  This is done by WAMS - www.whiteautoandmedia.com

 

Once the HMI is "Unlocked", one of the features you gain is a "Camera" icon on your 8" Screen.  What this does is give you the ability the call up the reverse camera at any time.  It will function as normal where it comes on automatically when in Reverse.  What is neat about this mod, is the ability to call it up while in Drive.  Neat for when towing and you want a quick look on the trailer.  

 

Now - With all that said, there are some prerequisites here.  

 

1.  You need a 2.5 HMI and 8" screen.  This means for you 2014-2015 Trucks (and some 2016 Trucks that got the leftover 2.0 HMI hardware), you must upgrade to 2016 - 2.5 HMI Hardware.  This is known as the "CarPlay/Android Auto Upgrade".  This service is provided by WAMS - https://www.whiteautoandmedia.com/product/2014-2015-5-c-k-platform-car-play-upgrade-retrofit-programming/.  They can also supply the hardware if needed.  There is a SPECIFIC upgrade path with compatible part #s that makes this truly PnP and fully operational.  While you have them perform the CP/AA upgrade, you can (at the same time), request to have the full UNLOCK done - https://www.whiteautoandmedia.com/product/2013-hmi-based-radio-iwm-unlock/.  These are separate services that need to be combined IF you want to gain the full HMI Unlock features.  I made a video of those features here - 

 

2.  For those of you that have a 2016+ Truck WITH the 2.5 HMI, you can remove the HMI and send it off to WAMS to get UNLOCKED.  If you have 2016 truck and you remove your HMI, it is likely that your truck will not start.  I made a video and have a bypass to start your truck while your HMI is out (this does NOT affect 2017-2018 trucks - you should be able to start your truck without your HMI).  Once the HMI is sent off, WAMS does their magic and send it back to you.  

 

3.  In both instances, you will need a Reverse Camera Adapter Harness that I build.  They can be purchased below:

I have a 2017, sent my controller to wams twice, they never got it right. When I asked what they could do about a refund, I never heard back from them... Still not working right, the option is there, when you click on the icon the screen goes blue, and a message comes up saying to get my system fixed. I would like to get it working, don't think I owe wams anymore money than what they got the first two times... So, I paid for something I never got, and never got a refund.....

Did u get Phil’s reverse camera harness? Otherwise it won’t work

order that harness should fix u up, ? I wondered the same shit when I got mine back but it requires a harness ? easy to install right under the bed by the spare tire

Now, I would like to get all the information needed to convert my truck to play movies. I have a 2017, 8 inch screen, CD player only...

Lol I use a 32gb usb stick, not sure i have my home put movies from his android phone to the usb stick 720p it plays most movies, haven’t really talked to my parts guy not sure what’s going on with him think he in hospital again. I have 2014 Silverado but it’s has the upgrade hmi2.5 unlocked but mine has the CD player too so I use the usb in the jumpseat to play movies

WAMS got the HMI unlocked and made that icon and feature available. PGamboa makes the harness that makes it work. I didn’t see it on mine at first and had to get the harness. It took me more time rolling up my sleeves and trying to not get oil all over my clothes. Lol. The truck has been oil sprayed.

he talks about it a little bit around 4:12. You should be able to have a movie on a flash drive and be able to watch it if you have had your HMI unlocked already by WAMS.

Thanks for your order. Sorry to hear you had some issues with WAMS. One of the reasons why I offer this harness now is to help WAMS and their customers with this part of the unlock.

There are no instructions with this. But it is really simple. Under your bed, there is a junction where your tail lights, cargo light, and tail gate harnesses plug into. Find the tail gate one (it’s have different braiding on it). Unplug it and plug mine in between.
