Silveradoh, just the pics ive been looking for. So you're running a 20x 9....tires look to be Terra grappler g2s from the pics. How have you liked the g2 so far. I'm gonna be 99 % pavement so curious how they feel in cornering, ride quality on nice and crappy roads. They def do have a nice look to them

Yep, running 20x9 on 305/50/20 terra grap g2. I've loved them so far, cornering and ride quality are good. I mostly drive on pavement with the occasional drive on sandy/beachy roads. I live in Florida so I've driven them through some torrential downpours and they've handled really well on the slick roads. No hydroplaning or anything, I've only had them for a couple months so I can't comment on how they wear, but so far so good.

All theses "off road" set ups does anyone actually off road? I have to ask why huge tires and a lift for 2wd as well. I live in SoCal and everywhere are street queens all pumped up but never dirty. Always complaining about gas mileage, squeaks and moans...inquiring minds wanna know fellas...

I've got Nitto G2s and I won't buy them again (35K miles so far). Horrible wet pavement traction -- I'm white knuckle driving them in stop and go traffic. I can break them loose at 35-40mph just down shifting to pass on a wet road. Horrible mud performance -- they gum up so quick making them useless slicks in a minute.

They are quiet though and they have a nice AT look to them without looking too aggressive. Much better looking tread than a Michelin or Toyo AT.

I have the XLs, so I have the 60K warranty, and the center tread may make it to 60k, but the outer lugs wore off quickly and gave the tire a rounded look (and yes, my front end alignment is perfect). The LTs may wear differently, but my assumption is the rubber compound is the same.

I'm looking at KO2s or Falken AT3s for my next set. The Nitto Ridge Grappler might also be an option, but I don't need anything that aggressive, so if I get them, it will be for looks only.

This is my set up. 285/55/22 Terra Grappler G2s on factory 22" wheels on a Fabtech 4" lift. They measure at 34.4, which is roughly .2" smaller than a 35". I can't tell a difference in height when I park next to a 35". It it, however, not as wide. But they don't rub very much at all and they are very quiet and they balanced out very well. As was mentioned above, I also think the G2s aren't much good in mud. They slick up fast and loose traction. I have about 1200 miles on them and wet traction is okay, or so I believe. I traded a 2015 Audi S4 for this truck so I'm used to something different when it comes to wet traction.

Hope this helps anyone that wants to run factory wheels.

They spend thousands of dollars for heavy duty off road lift kits, tires, shocks, roll bars, bull bars and wheels but they never post an photos of their rigs off-road.

How about some valid off-road photos of these lifted queens? Start a new thread for off-road photos!.

Planning on trashing mine next week. It's already fully sand. So far this one does better in the sand than my modded GMC I traded in.

when I bought my Nitto Ridge Grapplers the shop had a waiver to sign if I wanted to use the tires for street use only........ and for having a 6.2L 420hp motor I'm thrilled with my mpg's.

I know a lot of guys with sports cars that don't drag, drift, auto x and so on so why own a sports car if you're not doing anything "sporting" in it.

I had Nitto Terra Grappler G2's on my 2009 silverado for awhile. I will never use them again. Piss poor wet traction, horrible in ice/snow, and they looked crappy after the outsides wore away a little bit (despite proper inflation/balance/alignment.

I was going to say my sister owns a old school z28 Camaro that's made for drag racing and she Doesn't race. She uses it to pick up groceries lol.

But does she put on racing slicks and upgrade the suspension....?

That's the difference.

if she did who cares? People spend thousands of dollars on things and don't use them to their full capacity, but it's their money and their shit. I'm quite sure everyone here has at some point.

Obviously a nerve was hit. Chill man, I wasn't giving you a hard time. I'm just saying that a buying a z28 Camaro doesn't mean you're drag racing any more than buying a z71 silverado means you're rock crawling.

I used to live in a city and my truck went off-road maybe 10 times a year. I still put on a leveling kit and larger AT's because I liked the look. But I wasn't that worried about quality of the kit relating to off-road performance because it was 95% for looks. Now I'm on horrible dirt/gravel roads every weekend, so my viewpoint is a bit different and I'm more concerned with some performance there.

I do get what Surfarado means though. It is interesting that the big lift and off-road look is a big thing in cities, especially with trucks that may never touch non-pavement. I'm not saying it's wrong - do whatever the hell you want to with your money. Just interesting. It makes me think of the lifted Jeeps in Houston that were decked out in recovery gear, but were probably never going to go off the freeway.

if you think hitting a nerve entails pointing out an ignorant way of thinking then I guess that's what it is. I don't have a crazy setup so it's not personal towards me, but to the guys who do I can understand not wanting to chance bashing their stuff off-road, at the track or wherever. Some people like the look but don't want the risk. ‍
