Took mine into day, they called and told me their internet went down in the middle of the download, and they couldn't get it done. So they got me a loaner.

Actually, the peek-in odometer update can take anywhere from an hour to three and a half. I know this first hand as I've done 6-8 of these updates already.

This man is correct. All of ours have taken over an hr to do the instrument cluster reprogram. Usually about an hour and 15 min.

This is what most likely happened. The dealership had your truck scheduled for an oil change & tire rotation (done by a service tech - not a master tech) Someone else had to do the reprograms, and that person was most likely booked up, and they are trying to work yours back in around his already scheduled day.

Something you guys need to understand is your vehicle isn't the only one being worked on. Schedules are usually done days if not a week in advance. Now, if the advisor you spoke to when making the appointment was good at his job, he would have know that it being a 14 silverado had those recalls, and would have told you on the phone about 4 hrs if you wanted everything done at once. 1 for service, rotation, inspection and car wash, 1 for cluster reprogram, half hour for transfer case reprogram & 1.5 for SIAB connector elimination.

If you didn't have that time, I would have talked you into an hr and a half to do the service and transfer case reprogram, and do the other reprogram and siab connectors at a later time.

I dunno what it's like around you, but in these neck of the woods, money walks and &$#@ talks. If you've traded for a new 'vette every year for the past 20 years, you get your recalls done in 10 mins. If you're some poor slob who's worked hard all his life, saved up, and finally bought a truck that he is willing to show to his friends...yeah 6 hours for an ECM flash.

Sorry. Life...

Took my 2014 in this morning to have an oil change done. Service advisor calls me back and says there is two recalls to be done on my truck and they take 6 hours to perform them. Anyone have any idea which these are? Most recent recall I had done was the loose oil cooler/transmission line deal.

Took my truck in for 4 recalls and 21 days later it's still in the shop. How long does it take to grow a lemon?

It takes 30 days in the shop to grow a lemon. Sounds like you are almost there...

I am going to get the oil changed soon and know I still have trans cooler recall and probably the other three like this guy. Have any of your dealers given you a loaner?

I actually had 3 things done that apparently took a total of 9 hours because they had to do something twice. And I had to call GM just to get a loaner vehicle instead of spending >$80 on taxis or getting a rental... annoying but I got to drive the V6 2014 which wasn't that bad.

What number and who do I call. The chevy dealers are jerks to me because I bought a gmc 3 hours away.

Well mine took 3 hrs. And they waited a hour to start working on her. Why I was there i said let them do one of the free oil/ tire (4) I'm at 10,000 mil and I've my self change my oil at 900 and 5000 miles so it was time to get it done again. So had the two recalls fixed I guess .. Half of a oil change. I had to add 3qts ... Thank god the truck is smarter than the people in the shop this warning came on 30 miles into my trip back home. image_zps2c44bb88.jpg

I even ask the cashier how much oil they put in the truck because it did not say on the paperwork. Long store check your dip stick before you leave the dealer. My dealership told me this don't count as a free 1.... There dumb ass even put a sticker for me to come back in 3,000 miles to have them change it again. Sry for rating on .... TGIF

Good to know, I may requesting.... Truck is currently at Quirk GMC in Manchester, NH getting those software recalls done. They gave me a "eh" GMC terrain loaner but at least it's done now. Can't wait to get her back tomorrow. Hope my vibration issue is done.

Seeing all these posts on the recalls makes you never wanna get them done. Well anyway today went to the dealer at 12pm dropped off the truck sat there for a an hour and half, I know this due to the fact I work across the street at a dealership, so i could see it the whole time. ASM says be done by 5 ... 4pm rolls around they call me and say they only got the free service and 1/2 of a recall done its the airbag connectors for the front seats only passanger side got done. So they tell me to bring it back to tomorrow and finish the airbag recall w/ programing and then the peek in odometer recall, also said they will need the truck all day. But the worst part is I'd have to go back anyway when they did the service they got oil all over the motor and I mean all over, smelled burning oil all the way home 17miles. I was dumb thinking other mechanics actually work professional and clean up spilled oil. Ill be complaining first thing in the am.
