bndawgs Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 It was already there. Like my optioned truck maybe had the ability to add a heated steering wheel. When I installed the new clock spring, I noticed the extra wire loom that needed to go somewhere. Figured it had to go down into the steering column area behind the pedals. When I ran out of slack, I came across the male end of the similar connector that was peeking out of a larger harness. That's where I connected it thinking "it has to go there". I have adj pedals and steering wheel as well, so it'll be interesting to see if i have that plug already there. 1

pgamboa Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 (edited) I have a 2016 Silverado LTZ with heated heats but no power adjusting pedals and I found the connector for the heated steering wheel under the dash but it doesnt work That's a bummer. I thought all LTZs came with a heated steering wheel as standard option. Guess not? So I presume you tried this then? Where did you get your wheel and clock spring from? If you got the wheel used, I wonder if it's possible that the heat switch or heat element is not working? You also changed the clock spring? The steering wheel is new. 1

I looked up the Upfitter manual and cross referenced that 2-pin connector (Violet/White Stripe) and it looks like it goes to the fuse panel for the heat. Sorry this didn't work for you. Techboy2010 Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 I diid look up the wiring schematics and it should work. So I am gonna do some wire tracing today for the factory connector to see if there is by chance any loose wires 1

skully85 Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 My 17 GMC Sirrra SLT doesn't have a heated steering either, "just couldn't pass up the deal I got on this one". That being said, is there an option to add it?

That being said, is there an option to add it? Not an option as per GM, but it can easily be added. Just find a steering wheel with the option and buy the correct clock spring. If you are lucky it will be plug and play, if not it is only a ground and run hot wire to the correct fuse.

Chev-mekanik Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 I found mine on eBay, took a while as I wasn't fast enough for the purchase. I ordered my clock spring through the dealer as I don't believe in used ones. I also only pay trade prices.
pgamboa Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Got my wheel on ebay and clock spring from cheapestgmparts .com Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Arth Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Call me curious. I am seeing lots of wheels on ebay... most with the forward warning collision button. Obviously I am after the heated portion which they all have. If I get one with the button, even though my truck doesn't have the system, will it still plug in? I understand I will have a dead button. Thanks 1
