V4 mode 2015 6.2?

Anyone have issues keeping the truck in V4 mode. The only way the truck will stay in it is downhill. Cruising on the hwy it will sometimes just go in for a second and then out. Is this normal? I know my buddies 5.3 is totally different he can accel in V4 mode.

From what I can tell my truck is in v4 mode a lot more than I thought it would be. I have noticed with cruise control on hwy it stays in v8 mode and when I'm cruising the same speed with my foot it will be in v4 mode.

Are you saying yours never goes in v4 unless down hill or is constantly switching back and forth?

Mine stays in V4 mode a lot more than my old 6.0l did whether using cruise or not but it's really flat here. Do you have a lot of hills where you are?

Ya the slightest hell will keep it or put it in V8 mode. My 5.3 rarely goes in V4 on the interstate but on a highway is depends on how hilly it is. On my 5.3 if you're in V4 mode you can give it slight throttle but not much and it will stay in V4, but you have to barely give it throttle. Sometimes doing that helps it stay in V4 mode on a very slight hill where it normally would have kicked back into V8.

My 6.2 really only does V4 on flats with very little throttle and downhill. If you are not using premium fuel it will barely go in at all.

My 6.2 sounds like everyone elses. Only stays in V4 on flats, deceleration or downhill. Just a helpful tip I learned this weekend. Diablosport's fuel economy tune does nothing but hurt MPG on a lifted truck. Around town I have the same MPG and highway I lost 2.

I am sure if we use E85 will present more time in V4. I have 5.3, and I have noticed more V4 if I run fuel with 10% ethanol in it. Usually found in most gas stations in 87, most 91 and above has no ethanol.

Wind also makes a huge difference. Make sure it is not a windy day to do a good comparison.

My 6.2 is not a flex fuel vehicle.

My 5.3 will stay in V4 a lot in town. On the Hwy, it stays in V8 95% of the time unless I have a tail wind.

Ohh!? Is it bad if you had 10% ethanol gas in it then?? I thought the ecotec3 are all E85 capable.... You dont have the yellow gas cap do you?

Nope, no yellow cap and no mapping for the e85 in the ECM so you would destroy the engine by putting e85 in it.

10% ethanol will not harm a non-Flex Fuel vehicle. Many states have had E10 gasoline even before Flex Fuel vehicles were widely available.

My '15 6.2/8-Speed remained in V8 mode 95% of the time. Seemed like the only time it would cruise in V4 would be on a flat or downhill section of highway (foot was barely on the gas). As others have mentioned it would kick in V4 in any downhill stretch or closed throttle/coasting situations. My Hemi Ram likes to stay in V4 mode much more often than my Sierra did. I preferred how the Sierra would stay in V8 mode more often.
