What made you choose a 14/15 GM over the competition?

Pretty simple for me, I'm a gm guy, guess I always have been, I also think the new GMC is the best looking truck out, also I think with some of the packages the Chevy isn't far behind previous models were night n day VS the GMC, the ram with the cool hood is cool, but after that blah, new f150 is 100% turn off, at least the prev model looked nice,

I had 2 05 sierras both were bullit proof, also had a 97/00 Tahoe, and a 98 Yukon, I bought all those with about 120 and ran till 160/170k never a issue,

I had a GMT-900 and although I do like the denali I didn't REALLY wanna go that route.

I really liked how the '14s looked. I was also addicted to a digital speedometer coming off my camaro's HUD.

Simply put, I'm not a Ford or Dodge fan. Never have been, never will be. And the new Ford is beautiful. GMC just outclassed ford. Simple as that

Looked at Ford, Toyota, and Chevy. Wouldn't even think about a Dodge.

The Ford was very spartan on the interior, and that was fine - until I drove the Chevy. Toyota was great, but didn't have the front seat config I wanted. So it came down to styling and availability. And the Chevy won.

After my Diablo tuner, I love it!

Always was a GM guy, had a 2007 z71 crew cab silvy, then needed more room for my newborn son and daughter. In 2012 I bought a 2012 loaded ecopoop fx4 Crew cab. Loved a lot about that truck except the engine and piss poor paint. Sold the fx4 after I had enough of the engine issues and I am back in a silverado.

My dad has a 2014 sierra Denali 6.2, my truck in sig, and my brother just bought a 2015 ltz 6.2 crew cab.

Not having owned a pickup since '89 and a Ford which served me well until I sold it in 93 before moving overseas, I decided a new truck was in order before moving from Texas to Alaska so in Dec '13 when I began my selection choices for a new truck I started at Ford as I thought the F150 Platium series was a good looking pickup and a nice platform in the form of a well complimented vehicle.

Unsure of what I wanted other than 4-WHD, I started by driving the F150 with its highly promoted V6 Ecoboost which I found too "whiney" for me. I then test drove a 5.3 which felt "sluggish" and finally the 6.2 Raptor which while powerful, was too much "Baha" off road styling for me with its overly stiff suspension. Still uncertain, I left the lot not wanting to make the wrong choice. An F-150 Platinum with the 6.2 would have done it for me but was not available in that config.

From there, I ended up stopping in at GMC where I found a Red SLT 5.3 L on the showroom and liked the styling but wanted either a black or white truck and since they did not have one, I left to continue shopping around. I had already discounted Rams and Tundras as trucks that did not appeal to me.

Next stop was another GMC dealership the next day where I found a Black 5.3 K1500 SLT parked next to a Summit White K1500 6.2L Denali. I drove both, then left with the 6.2L Denali and never looked back.

The better mpg in the 5.3 vs hemi , the hemi is nice but pop the hoods of a hemi ram and a 5.3 and u can see that hemi will Suck to do diy maintenance when warranty is up , the 5.3 has room around it to wrench like a truck should, plus simple leaf spring rear axle vs coil

I had Fords when I was a kid. I had a lot of little problems, clip falling off and door window falling down. Rod from clutch bellcrank breaking. Things like that annoying but not big dollar problems. Then I bought a Chevy and found a truck could go 100,000 miles without breaking anything. My '98 S-10 went 127,000 miles and I replaced a u joint and the fuel pump at 110,000.

Before I spent the money for my '14 LTZ I looked at Ford and Dodge. The Chevy seemed nicer. I like the GMC but as silly as it might seem I just don't like the red dash lights. Ford has turbos which are notoriously prone to problems and not as nice inside. The Dodge was nice inside and has a great powertrain, but the dealers around here are known to be sleazy. The Chevy dealer I dealt with before is a long time family owned affair, and is proud of their reputation in the community. I know a rare thing in the car dealer industry. So Chevy it was. No problems at all with my LTZ in 18 months now. I know I made the right choice.

To me there wasn't much of a choice.... after a few years with Chrysler products (plus helping my Brother-in-Law with his RAM)... I'd never even consider one, even if it was given to me. I just can't see myself buying a Nissan or Toyota in a full size (call it whatever you want)... So it was really down to Ford vs. GM.

I wanted to like the Ford (I have a few friends with EcoBoosts and love them) but I can't stand the interior on the new trucks. Boxed/squared, looks like the side of my Rubbermaid garbage cans. I get some guys really want to know/feel they're in a "truck" but when not towing the race car, I commute with my truck (plus I had to get the wife to buy-off on it) and want to enjoy my time in it. (Worth noting I looked at the Nissan w/Cummins in it at the Chicago Auto show and felt the plasticky interior looked even worse than the Ford.) GM really stepped up their game with the interior in this current gen of trucks.... the interior in my 15 Sierra is every bit as nice, if not nicer, than my last Audi A6!

From there it just came down to Silverado vs. Sierra. I loved the LED headlights on the Sierra (and the red-toned dash vs. the light blue) so that's the direction I went.

The interior fit and finish on the GMs is much nicer than Ram or F150 IMO. I have to admit that the Ram rides very nice with its suspension setup and the Hemi pulls hard - I was not impressed with the interior design and a really dislike the front end - it's gotten old. The Ford is nice but damn pricey - I don't love the engine choices either. GM seems to have created a nice balance of styling, option packages/choices and practicality. The cabin is insanely quiet - I read somewhere that the decibel level on the highway is on par with luxury car brands. I ended up buying a Silverado 4x4 and felt it was a great value for the price. Very happy with this truck

It was simple choice.............the ecobust from Ford was a no go....and the Ram Hemi with 16 sparkplugs is overkill (I had a 2004 and a 2008 Ram) ....so went with the tried and true GM 5.3 V8 that still get better gas mileage that Ford and Dodge.
