E85 fuel economy

I have used E85 exclusively since the truck was new. It usually cost about 75 cents a gallon less. It's 1.56 a gallon here. This is a 50 mile screen shot, all highway, cruise set at 68 with the air running. The only issue I can see is the motor spins a little more before it starts.

I really wish I could run e85.

I saw on average 2 at most 3 MPG less on E85 compared to 89 octane gas. It was really nice when I could get E85 for $1.00 less a gallon then gas (bought it for $0.89 a gallon at one point). I quit running it once winter approached because of the longer start time. I think I'm gonna go back to it now that it's warm out.

I know when I'm in TN where I can get real gas my mpg's are way higher than e85.

I hope the cynics don't pipe in that you lose 25% of you fuel mileage, and how it just isn't worth it, after your post, but I'll bet they do. Enjoy that extra spunk E-85 gives your truck. Free horsepower! Gotta love it.

Recently I was in Madison, Wisconsin and the price of E85 was the same as that of regular 87 octane gas. Not a very attractive option at that price. I think if you can find it priced $ 0.75 to
$1 below the cost of regular gas it is a good option.

That's an impressive fuel mileage. Mine is in the low to mid-teens with E85. Very small percentage of highway driving and I have a lead foot.

E85 price could be more expensive than diesel and I'd still use it.

Just ran a tank of E85 got about 14.5 mpgs almost all city driving. I normally get between 16 and 17 running regular 87, but for 80 cents less a gallon, its well worth the mpg loss

The general rule of thumb is running ethanol (E100, though) is worth it as long as the liter (attention here, not the gallon) is anywhere up to 60% the cost of the same volume of gasoline. Anything over that and you're not saving any money.

To be honest, I would probably run E85 if it were sold more down here in South Florida. There's only one station in my city that sells it, and at roughly 50 cents a gallon less than 87, it's not really worth it.

To my knowledge, E85 is not available anywhere in Florida. Certainly not in central Florida. I have driven all over the state and have not seen a single E85 pump to date.

The UGas Station in Boca Raton has it, and all the Turnpike Service stations (at least from West Palm Beach and South) have it too. But I do vouch for what you said, when I drove up north I didn't see it anywhere.

Shoot thats better than when I use regular gas. lol

I had a 2013 Silverado that didn't do nearly as good with E85 as the 2014. You wouldn't believe what I get when I run 55.

What's your thoughts on running pure gas? (Non oxy)
